  1. Didn't take the time to read the whole epic thread, but I have had mine mounted on the stock rack. I didn't feel comfortable drilling into my Pathy's skull just yet, so i tie-wrapped the wires into a neat little bundle and then ran them through the right tear passenger door. I just have everyone pile in from the left. Hey it works. Oh and as for concealing the wires I took out the good ole dremel and punched some neat little holes in the middle pillar deal in between the front and rear doors, ran it down under the trim, under the carpet, through the firewall and finally to the switches and power. Don't know if it is the safest setup, but I am not dead yet.
  2. I'm from Minneapolis, and currently in college in NW MN right now. I am really close to the MN/ND border.
  3. I was looking at cold air intakes at one time also, and I found this: http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/partdetail...op_Charger/2494 It seems kind of pricey though, but I remember it was hard to find them. I think if you searched around on the site there is probably even a post on how to make one. Don't quote me on that though. I don't know much about the headers sorry. Good Luck!
  4. My truck did the EXACT same thing. It ended up being fixed with an intake/induction cleaning. Check out this post fer more info: http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...mp;#entry327716 Hope this helps! I also have a video of my truck doing this on Youtube. Search "1994 Nissan Pathfinder Problem" Ha ha I guess you actually commented on that old topic too! The video may or may not help, but good luck!
  5. Sorry about making this a whole new topic, but here is a link to a video of my pathfinder's idling troubles that I had been troubleshooting a while ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWvZKfV1I7k Be sure to watch the tach! Enjoy! My original post is here: http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...mp;#entry327716 so if you have similar problems, check out some of the info in this post!
  6. SO SORRY! for the huge delay, but it is fixed! Here is what I had done. Water Pump replacement= $500 Induction/ intake cleaning= $100 + Labor Total = $700 My pathfinder is up and running again, but I did not have any sensors or valves or anything major replaced!? Anyways just wanted to bring closure to the problem. Once again thank you all you have all been very helpful!
  7. Finally got it back to the cities, hauled it on a flatbed trailer, so I wouldn't have to disconnect anything. It is being looked at by a very good and very reasonable mechanic. So far, I know my water pump is out, the shroud is what made it so hard to find my leak. The bad news is that it will cost $500 just for the water pump. Nissan dealer wanted $490 just for labor. The guy has no idea what is causing the erratic idle problems, as of course, the problem does not occur around any other person in the world!? I have mentioned the IAVC and EGR valves, but he says they are hard to check. He has compression tested it and said it is fine, and I know I do not have a cracked block or blown head gasket. I will get back asap to everyone as soon as I find out more. Thanks!
  8. Hot Damn! I will print this out and read it tonight, and see if I can find out more about it. I will make another post as soon as I know what is going on With the rings around the exhaust and sooty plugs, I gather I am running rich as well... I think this may be just a bunch of little problems that all hit at once, but I am still troubleshooting and will get back asap! Thanks!
  9. Please read the captions on the pics too!
  10. 400-500 for me I spose I should bring it up a little?
  11. What exactly is an IVAC-ACC Valve/ regulator and what does it do? I googled it and I could not figure out what it is. That could very well be what is causing my problems, but I have no idea what this valve or regulator would look like or even where it is at. I left my Haynes Auto Repair Manual down home, 5 hrs away! Thanks!
  12. I will find the code thread and print it out, I had it at one point, so I should be able to find it again. I will pull codes tomorrow and try to get pics of the spark plugs up. My problem seems to be associated with hot humid days, on cooler days it seems to run much better. I will check at checker auto the next time I am in Grand Forks and see if I can loan a tester out, because I really need to know if it is a head gasket or anything major. I will try to make a more informative post tomorrow or friday, with pictures and everything because I have got to get this figured out. I am really leery about taking it to a garage though because I think I will get screwed. Thanks Again!
  13. Okay, I pulled the plugs today and they were all covered in a black soot. The tip and the electrodes were a gray-brown, and had nothing on them. One was wet on the threads, but nowhere near the tip. Going to sit under the truck for a good while and try and find the dang leak. I will try and add pictures a little later tonight. Check Engine Light is not on, can I still pull codes if it idles rough, but the light isn't on?
  14. To clarify a bit, it is a 1994 Pathfinder WD21 V6 4wd Auto Trans SE I will be pulling the plugs tomorrow, so I have my fingers crossed that it is nothing major , and just something I overlooked. It may be as simple as a sensor and a coolant leak, so I will bust my buns tommorrow on my day off, and will update ASAP!
  15. For now, I will have to tow it back from North Dakota to Minneapolis. I will be renting a dolly (tow w/ 2 wheels off ground) So I will disconnect the driveshaft and put the two front wheels in the dolly. I assume this is correct?? I will be pulling the plugs on Tuesday though to check for white tips or wet plugs, and I will post what I find in this thread. If I could explain anything any clearer, let me know!
  16. As of now, the oil looks perfect, as does the inside of the radiator and the overflow reservoir, and the tranny fluid is a lovely shade of manly salmon, and smells fine. My dad told me to run it for about 15 mins and then check to see if any of my plugs are wet, so I will start there. It is really undriveable right now, and I don't want to do any further damage, so sadly she will have to sit for a little while. I will keep you all posted, thanks for all the help so far!
  17. I did have to replace that hose once before, it was a PITA, and I have just replaced my whole exhaust and cat, and it doesn't stink, but I spose it would be worthwhile to check that for coolant loss. I will check tomm and get back, thnx.
  18. I am having trouble with my pathfinder What's wrong: Carbon buildup around my exhaust Occasionnaly: Idles like a 2 cycle and puffs black smoke I am losing coolant very quickly, cannot find a leak (Drains in ~ a day) Kills sometimes when put in reverse RPMs drop and raise back up Kills occasionaly while I am driving Has difficulty (struggles) to shift at times I have been told this could be: Blown head gasket Vacuum leak and the EGR Valve Transmission modulator Since it does it so seldomly, when I have taken it in people think I am nuts, because it does not do these things constantly. Oil and Tranny fluid look fine. Please give me your 2 cents Much appreciated!
  19. Now I drove the truck again today and it was fine?! I don't understand why it is so inconsistent? What do you guys suggest I do to see if its a vacuum leak or something else?
  20. I see, that's the only thing i figgered it could be, I think I'll play around with it to be sure, I must have a leak eh?
  21. I think I will try and get a video up somewhere of it doing it, revs drop from about 1200 to about 200, then shoot back up and down constantly...
  22. I'm not sure if they are to be completely honest, but I believe they are water and spill resistant but not waterproof, water and liquid bead up on them, and you can wipe them off if you are quick enough, but stuff will soak through if you let it sit.
  23. So I was driving down the road the other day, and at a stoplight the Pathfinder started acting funny. The idle drops from normal operation, to where it almost kills, and I have to keep giving it gas to keep her from dying. This has happened before, but not to where it actually killed the truck while I was driving. The exhaust was sputtering and it kept getting little surges of power, then I did not even notice that the truck shut off, until I couldn't steer. Once I restarted her she ran fine!? She did the same thing again yesterday too... Please help I am confused. I was thinking of checking codes when I can find what board it is in... Thanks! My dad thinks it may be the egr valve??
  24. I actually painted almost my entire dash, but I will get pics up later...
