  1. Hey Mudfinder,

How do you like your Lock-rite? I'm thinking about getting one soon, but not too sure. I've read many write ups on it and the pro's and con's, but from someone with firsthand impressions and use....

    Thanks!

the lock rite is insane, i really like it. a lot better than i thought it would. my friend who helped me install it was very impressed of the performance, he deiceded to get one for his samuari. when i have one wheel in the air, the one tire that's one the ground pushes forward or reverse no problem. remember i'm also 2wd. i'm able to go much futher than this guys 4x4 4runner. whole different rig. i give it two thumbs, :aok::aok:

  2. check out this path. i'm sure some of us have seen this rig. i remember posting pictures of this rig while it was being built. check out what its become. it's INSANE. i would love for my path to turn out like that. but i don't consider it a Pathfinder. chevy engine, drivetrain. only thing Nissan is the body. check out the flex on this monster. oh yeah, i think he should of left the factory headlights on. here's a link:

  3. Since we continue getting more and more members, i was wondering if we have new members from so cal. there is only a few here, no more than 5 i think. but still, we're all spread apart. i'm from LA, others are from Santa Barbra area, San deigo, and etc. if you are from so cal, speak out.

  4. after 4wheeling, i always reconnect the rear sway. i leave the front off, i don't feel any differences. but the other day, i went again, but this time, i was too lazy to put the rear sway back on. i was on a pretty curvy cayon on the way down, i was taking it easy and was not a problem. did NOT feel any body roll or anything. i took the streets home with an average of 25-30mph. freeway wise, i'm not going on the freeway w/out them.

So if she rolls over, please don't blame Nissan! They kept them relatively low and installed sway bars to reduce the chances of rollover in normal day to day use. Don't tamper if you're not ready to accept responsibility for the results.

if i did roll, why would i blame Nissan? i'll just flip it back and continue on my way.

  5. umm let's see. you can get HD steering components from calmini. bit pricey, but worth it. if you're on a budget check out 4x4parts.com. i'd get all of the steering components, control arms from calmini, but too expensive. here's a link.calmini

there is so much you can do. a lot of different options. check out 4x4parts.com and purenissan.com. all my parts expect for the locker, shocks and prerunner bar are from 4x4parts.com. i think they're pretty good. but 88pathoffroad will give you a different opinion on them.

  6. i'm in the los angeles area, i'm in the san fernando valley. we got shook up pretty good here. sunday morning, i was in bed, yesterday, i was at my g/f's house when it started shaking. i think their kinda fun, but not when you're 25ft up in the air on a sissor lift.

as far as you being on a sissor lift while it shook, it'll take me a long time to get back up on one of those, i'd $hit bricks!!!

  7. this last few weeks, there have been a lot of earthquakes. one massive quake in chile, i think, somewhere in south america. the massive quake off the coast of northern cali, and a few shakes rattle and rolls here in so. cal. it's kinda freaky about all these quakes happening all of a sudden. i know that us, so cal residents are way over due for the big one i guess. everyone around here is saying that the big one is comming soon. all i know is that if we do have one, i hope it's during the night, when it usual is because i'm at work(graveyard shift) and at the airport. so once it starts shaking, i'm headed towards the middle of the runway.

  8. here's a picture of my path at the same location but at different times. the one on the left was couple days ago w/out the sway bar, and the one to the right is from almost a year ago, right after i got it lifted, with sway bar. huge differnece i think.

  9. i went wheelin the other day, here are some pictures. check out how the front tire is stuff. it didn't do that before. :D and with the rear sway off, flexed pretty good.

also another i think i noticed w/ out the front sway is the ride is alittle nicer. i did drive on the freeway, no sway at all. the ride on the trail was alot smoother.

  10. not sure if 5.13 but the ring/pinion my dealership lists are 600 bucks. My cost would be 450.22 and it'd be about 8 bucks to ship. You can always call them (1-800-220-1502) or give me a part number and I can get a definate price.

can you find out, or can i find out what gear ratio it is if i call the number? thanx man.

  11. hey guys, i was wondering if anyone here knows of a place that sells 5.13 ring and pinion. i know 4x4parts.com has em, but it's way too expensive.

anyone here have 5.13 in their h233b? i went wheelin' yesterday and on steep climbs, my truck wouldn't move, just the engine reving, but now wheel spin. gotta change em gears.

  12. SUCCESS!!!! i finally fixed my path. picked up the bolts from the dealer yesterday and put everything back together. i really missed driving my path. i could go and play now.

i was able get a 10 gauge bolt from the dealer. the only website i was able to fine the UCA bolt was at bolt depot.

i want to thank you guys for helping me out. i know i could count on everyone here. my knowledge on repairing trucks, such as this issue, my lockrite locker, i didn't have, now i do which hopefully i'll be able to pass on to other people. thanks guy!!

  13. hey, guys, a buddy of mine has a 03 frontier 4x2. the front suspension is totally similar to ours. well, he has problem. when he has his making a turn, he gets this nasty cracking, squeking sounds comming from the i believe a arms. i know, ours do that too, but it's not the same, sounds more nastier. any ideas?

  14. hey guys, while my path is still in the driveway, my neighbors driveway to be exact, all part because of the UCA bolt that i broke, i decided to take the front sway bar off. i can't drive it yet because the new bolts haven't arrived yet from the dealer. is it safe w/out the front sway bar? i know it's fine for the rear. i left put my rear sway back on, i freaked out after what happened when i disconnected the rear sway. just thought i asked. oh yeah, anyone else have the front sway removed?

  15. success!!! my buddy and i took out the broken piece out. finally. first i torched it with a propane torch gun(thank you maritime) that probably helped alot, then we pounded in with one of those heavy duty 1foot flat screwdrive and used a wrench to screw it out. came out no problem. the only trouble i'm having is trying to find the bolt. i went to pepboys, mom and pop auto parts stores, home depot, osh. osh had some but their metric didn't match mine. any ideas where i can find it, or if there is a website anyone knows of. other than that, mudfinder is almost ready to play.

  16. what's going on everyone. well couple weeks ago, i noticed a loud clunking feeling around the front passenger side wheel area everytime i stopped or turned or accelerated. upon inspection, i notice one of the bolts holding the UCA is loose. so i start to tighten her up, didn't seem to want to tighten, so i decided to take it out completely and reinsert it. when i took the bolt out, half of it was still inside the frame. now, how does anyone break that bolt? could it be by putting pressure on the wheel while trying to climb or what? anyway, i finally drilled a hole through that bolt to extract it with a reverse thread. so far, no luck, i think it's frozen in there or something. i've tried vise grips, regular pilers, drills, from regular to heavy duty power drills. any ideas on what kinda tool i can use? a friend of mine was suggesting me to use a sawzal and cut it out piece by piece, then chizeling it out. any ideas?? thanx!

another thing. what kinda bolt can i use to replace it? as in what grade? the sales guy at the hardware store said that i don't want the ones from them, that is too soft.
