And I thought I had electrical problems.
Sounds like something may be shorting, but I really don't know anything so its just a guess.
yes something is shorting out and it all started when we tried to change out the factory radio. dont know where to start with the diagnostics and dont want to go to stealer cuz it is likely to cosy lots of $$$$$ to trouble shoot. So we are hoping that the old girl keeps mending herself....lol
-
Update: we seem to be making progress. The pathy seems to be mending its own sickness !!!!!
It now starts with the ignition key provided we turn the headlights on and provided that we dont lock the doors. So we are now back on the road and having driving fun, even though having to turn the lights on to get the truck to start is really making this saga weird....................

does anyone on the forum know of a DIY for disconnecting the factory alarm. Is there anything that is affected by the disconnect such as door locks or anything like that which needs to be dealt with?? any insight would be much appreciated.
-
great job, you have another one to do, U just gotta come over to Ohio to do the job.
did you take dimensions etc that you can share with folk??
-
Well, I give up. Spent all day today trying everything I could think of. Pull all the cables, cleaned and refastened. and the damn thing still does the same. I guess its a trip to the stealer and $$$$$
To top it off the hood latch cable went today as well.
Not fun.

Which relay by the battery is the starter relay. Is it the one on its own fastened closest to the battery itself??
-
Try tapping on the starter relay under the hood by the battery. It may be stuck internally. If that fixes it, I'd buy a new one.
You can also try sticking the key in and turning it on and off a few times while the battery is disco'ed, just in case contacts inside the ignition switch are somehow messed up...
Tried both. I did not know which was the starter relay so I tapped all of the relays. also crawled underneath and tapped the solenoid and starter just in case they were sticking. this thing has me friggin frustrated. Gonna pull the trim off the column by the ignition in the morning and poke around there to see if I can see anything frayed or unplugged. Car was fine until we pulled the radio. everything worked fine.

sorry, no remote start.......
Factory alarm

Stock alarm. We have no keyless entry remotes when we purchased car few months back but I guess that doesnt mean that its not wired for them?? this has me stumped and frustrated

Here are some photos of the pathfinder frame reconstruction I did. We didn't lift the body off the frame either. Just cut the entire frame out and rebuilt from there.
BEFORE
AFTER
Good job on the frame. We are doing similar to our frame as well.

1995 pathfinder
tried to change out the radio with an aftermarket radio head unit and now everytime I try to reconnect the battery the car starts without the key even in the ignition. put the factory radio back in and it still does same. My guess is its something to do with the alarm system but do not know enough about these to troubleshoot. Factory Alarm system, no remote start.
also it sounds like the starter stays engaged and when it is placed into park you can here the starter/ring gear is engaged and it makes a whirrring noise. Solenoid stuck???
I need help badly..................anybody have any insight or troubleshooting suggestions????

Hoohaa (That's a link to his thread on these boards.)
thanks, I have located him and will be getting CL from him ASAP
-
Simon, thanks, I will go with Hoohaa. do you have email or phone number for him??

So if I go with a 15x8 wheel and 3.75 or 4" backspace with a 33x12.5 or 33x13.50 tire I should be ok with the B/L and S/L, provided that I do a sterring upgrade. I am now looking at the L&P centerlink kit
-
You might check corvette forum for a guy named Chuck Pelton--he used to get around $200.00 exchange for a leather wrapped C-3 wheel--I've seen his work and it looks as good as factory stuff---but being the cheapskate that I am, I went for a kit and did my own--didn't turn out too bad.
Good Luck
Thanks Tposton
what kit did you use and did you stitch it yourself?? Any pics?

3 + 3 for 33's
if your gonna run 33's your stock steering will be toast in no time at all.
Yes you are right. I have been looking at the Calmini sterring upgrade kit as well.

By "and then some" he means that you may have to do some trimming to the rear portion of the fender to clear 33's. That depends on width, tire make, and offset.
Mine are 285/75R16 (33x11.5) and I have some rubbing on the rear portion of the fenders when turning going over bumps.
Thanks Simon, what offset do you think I should try for. I was thinkin 15x10 or 15x8 rims but am not aure what offset. Tires I was thinkin 33x 12.50 or 33x13.50

sorry about the spelling. Must be tired. Geezz, I hope I dont make mistakes this weekend while I am trying to remove broken exhaust studs and installing headers
-
you need the SL (& BL) and then some to get those meats under there.
when you say then some are you saying that I will need more hieght or other mods?? I have looked at some of the pathys on AC 4x4 and many sem to have 33 with 3=3 lift so I was sorta hoping that I could get away with initial 3" loft then a 3" S/L later. However based on ur afdvice I need to install at least the 3' S/L and 3" B/L first. Thats a bummer cuz now I gotta buy another set of 31 tires first to get me through till i got the loot to buy the S/L and 33's. (I sorta suspected that so thanks for the advice) but I an concerned about the them some...what else do you think I will need to do
thanks

another question from a newbie that has most likely been asked many times before , 95 pathy auto.
Can I use 33" wheels with just a 3" B/L. Installing headers and B/L this weekend and saving for a S/L. currently have 31x10.50 but want to go larger. thinking 33x13.50 on 15x10 or 15x8 rims. Need to buy tires now so wanted to do these first before S/L if it will work.

thanks, appreciate the info. I live 15 mintues from Summit in Akron so i'm gonna go up and pick up a set.

My setup is Thorelys, 2.5", and Magnaflow cat/muffler. I love the way it sounds. It has a kind of unusual deep "Japanese" sound to it. It peaks out deepness at about 3000-3500rpm. Sometimes I catch the ricers looking around for a resonator on everything around them.
what model thorleys do we need to use. Summit only shows them for WD21 pickup. Will these fit on a 95 pathy SE 4WD with automatic??
Appreciate advice. Just bought my pathy and need to get exhaust done as it is noisy as hell. Thik passenger side manifold. Thought I might as well replace with headers??
-
Notice neither of those have a center? 96+ have airbags.
Otherwise, I'm not sure which other Nissans have the same steering shaft, and the only years like yours were 94&95 for Pathfinders.
I have same problem on my 95 SE. Need new wheel or have someone replace the leather. If you figure out how to get this done let me know since I want to fix mine as well.
-
wayyy to wide of a tire, you are gonna see some serious rubbing and a decrease in turning radius. i suggest a 12.5" tire at the most.
If I go with a 12.50 tire what wheel size, can I still use 15x10. I have been looking at photos on the AC web site and there were a few 95 running 33x14.50 and 33x13.50. All had about 6" lift
