  1. Don't think that would help. The truck runs, and was idling fine when I set the timing by feel. You can even do a couple throttle sweeps with no probs. But when you actually drive the truck, and load up the engine, it seems to fall back out of 'tune'. That's what makes me think the gear is worn and making some engagement, but not enough to hold under load. That's why I asked if it was a plastic gear or not. Easiest way is just to pull it n look. There goes my night lol
  2. That's my next step tonight, before trying to set it w a timing light. Is it a plastic or metal gear? Can the gear be replaced by itself?
  3. Was changing my cap and rotor. Rotor was seized on. Yes, I did remove the lock bolt. Channel locks killed the plastic portion. I sprayed the remaining portion with wd40 n tried to coax it off. M pretty sure the shaft ofthe distributor turned. I don't have access to a timing light till tonight, but i've set the thing by feel three times now n it seems to keep falling out of 'tune'. Think the gear on the dizzy is stripped?
  4. If you break the xmas trees most parts jobbers or body supply places have or can get them for you.
  5. I don't have a problem with my auto hubs as of yet. So I'm going to keep them for now. However, I'm going to listen to the voices of experience and change over to manuals if anything goes wrong. My question is: when the auto hubs fail, does it damage anything else? I mean, the day they decide to lock/unlock themselves, can I just swap out to manuals, or am I looking at replacing some broken parts first?
