  1. Once again, I am late. That looks good. Cost? (if you don't mind me asking) Wanna sell me your OEM one?
  2. I know I am a few months late...but did this deal ever go down? I am looking for a replacement and figured if I am paying...why not upgrade, just the factory one looks like it will run me 250. (190+60 forone corner peice) btw- if anyone who upgraded has a black rear OEM bumper cover and/or corner peice...I would be interested.
  3. You will be very proud to hear that I have add another Nissan to my fleet. This puts me at: 1 R50 2 Volvo Turbo Wagons 1 VW Beetle and....drum roll please.... 1992 Hardbody Pick-up 16?k miles V6 manual trans Ext Cab 4x4 good tires red/red A little beat up, but that is how I like em! I replaced the rear wheel cylinders and took it to inspection/emmisions. Passed both with flying colors. I pick her up tonight, will get a few pics and then onto a good detail with pics to follow. Hummm..now to look at interchangaiblity with old Pathfinder parts... First mod: replace original factory head unit, as soon as my harness shows up. I read up on this subject and hope I don't run into the amp issues...
  4. i have the same thing...looks like an ECU, but not likely. anyone have an answer for us?
  5. Correct me if I am wrong.... One-trip logic means that it is tested with one drive (start engine, reach operating temp, stop engine) Other sensors like o2 take several trips or drive cycles to be "ready" and if they come up good, no CEL...if they come up bad..you get a CEL when ever the ecu decided it has enough data to have correctly diagnosed the fact that there is an issue. "One trip" means the ecu decided based on one trip. In short...I think alot of these folks do not know they have that code at all, including the ones who think they fixed it. The only way to be sure it it fixed is to hook up a ODBII scanner after "one trip" which I suspect many people don't do. But Destro sounds like a tech that does check the codes, so i would rather take his word as i am just speaking on my own little peice of expereince. I would however like to see the ace4aday put a scanner to his and see if the code is in the computer and there is no MIL...like mine. The KS does not trip a MIL/CEL. When i bought my R50, it had 3 codes...I reset the ECU and after a drive around the block I hooked up my crappy 100 dollar scanner and it had detected the KS but not the Evap or 02. I tried to go through emmisions and of course they said I needed to go through more drive cycles before it was ready to be tested. Here is a little unrelated hint that saved me a few hundred dollars. I had a damn Ford that failed the smog test due to MIL...and I reset the damn ECU and took it back..."not ready" I hooked up my scanner...drove around until 4 of the 6 sensors were ready...and no light..this was my window od oportunity to pass emmisions, the fifth or 6th was going to throw a code You see, for ODBII cars between 96 and 98, you can have 2 sensors "not ready" or not have enough drive cycles to determine good vs bad and throw a MIL. For 99 and up, all sensors but 1 has to be ready. When I drove off from the station after passing, the damn light came back. Lucky me.
  6. I am going to have to agree with EplorX4 on this one...I think most people don't check the codes after the light goes out and I think we can all agree that a knock sensor will not throw a CEL only a code. And what he tells makes sense, that is the normal operation of a KS IMHO
  7. Glad to hear your up and running again (without paying "diagnostics").
  8. Mine is doing the same @!*%, here is what i bought http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=15180 There are also two others ones like it but shorter that sit higher up in the body and I will be replacing just the bushings on those. I expect parts to arrive within the week and should have the job done Saturday. will keep you posted. Good Luck.
  9. I concur. I used to change oil at Firestone and have seen the old ring stay on the mount several times. Eeasiest way is to check your old filter and make sure it is there. If you don't have the old one anymore, remove the one you put on, clean the area and put on a new one. Worse case is it cost you 20 minutes and 4 bucks. I doubt anything else is wrong. It would have to be a big coincidence to have all of a sudden started after the oil change.
  10. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/pts/417589625.html Is this the metal part of the black bumper on the R50? Anyone with part number cross reference thinger? Is it one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/new-PATHFIN...sspagenameZWDVW If so, I really want it.
  11. Yeah, I would say you were crazy to even consider that for 3500. Without bragging: I just picked up a 97 XE and the only issues it has is that the torsion/trailing (rear control) arms need replaced and the a/c comressor is screwed up. I got it for 2100. The other one I got needs a knock sensor and probably an 02. It is a 98 SE w/ 105k and I paid far less then even the 2100 for this bad boy. What I am saying is that you lucked out not getting that crapper...be patient & keep looking! (and try to stay away from the dealers)
  12. hahaha, no upgrading for me. not a spinners kinda guy...lol I am actually in search of a set of these bad boys for the 97. (that is the 98)
  13. Thanks for the info guys...that is one big bore. Sucks. Yeah, I have come accross some amazing deals on CL. Bad news: I recently just missed out on a set of 4runner wheels with brand new 31' BGF's for $165. Last month, i got 5 FREE 18's with 2 new tires and sold them for 400 bucks. At the same time, he gave me 4 stock wheels for an A4 which I got $175 for. That was sweet!
  14. Yeah, I know...I am hoping the shop can narrow it down with that expensive thingamabober and I can do the swap myself. My thingamabober-Doo-dad only tells me 02..not which one. UPDATE- i am getting cam seals and all belts redone. Also probably plugs while it is in th shop. I think I am paying 500 total labor for all this crap. Bringing my own parts for the most part. TB KS Water Pump belts radiator flush plugs cam seals 500 labor+my parts. Does that sound resonable?
  15. Will 6 lug wheels and tires from a 1996 Honda Passport fit the 97 XE? I have an opportunity to get a set of these suckers dirt cheap with close to new tires on them but have to move fast to get it. And while I am at it, what OEM rim will fit directly???Ford? Chevy? ANYTHING?
  16. Thanks for all the "welcome's" I am glad to be here...and if you look at my posts, you will see I am learning alot! here goes a teaser pic taken in the dark...can't get better ones till I get her back from the shop.
  17. I am in Va and 96-98 can pass with 2 codes not ready, anything newer and you need all but 1 code to be ready. I said F it and dropped her off at the shop for a timing belt, waterpump, and KS. Total parts=165 (my own purchase) total labor=500 (ouch) Total Cash= $665 I guess it is not a bad deal...Still may need an o2 sensor. On another note, maybe I can get him to knock the bumper re-inforcement straight for me or use some sort of "come-along" or winch to fix it and then all I will need is a bumper cover and one corner peice... Wish mu luck. I will keep you posted.
  18. So here are my questions: 1) Do MAF's die suddenly? YES, i think 2.Is a dying MAF so sensitive that just touching it or the wiring harness cause everything to fail? YES, i think 3.Can I rule out the gas? YES 4.Should I have the MAF itself further tested? YES 5.Should I try cleaning it? YES 6.Should I just break down and change the MAF and hope that was it? AFTER THE CLEANING AND HARNESS CONNECTIONS ARE TRIED/TESTED. 7. Did the MAF problem cause the P0325--- NO.(which never came back)? Help! DONE. Post your results buddy.
  19. You guys without emmisions are some lucky SOB's. I think I will drive it until I get enough ready codes and try it. BUT since I am getting a timing belt and waterpump...should I just go ahead and get this done too? I already bought the part for 70 bucks from FCP Groton...and I am guessing some of the labor will be overlaping...
  20. Hey all, I just got a 98 SE and I had a few codes. I had an o2 code, an evap code and a knock sensor code. The truck sat for 6 months before I purchased it so I just re-set the codes and have not driven enough to figure which ones will come back. I don't have tags yet. No CEL yet, I did however scan again to see if it was "ready" for emmisions and I still have a few items that are readin as "imcomplete" meaning the ECY has not sensed it enough to draw an conclusion if it is good or bad, so I know it will not pass emmisions until all but 2 of these are ready. BUT in the mean time, i still get a P0325 on my ODBII and no CEL. Will I pass emmisions if I just wait for all but 2 indicators to be ready? Or will the Knock Sensor code show up in the emmsiiosns even though I don't get a CEL? (I did this with a ranger last week and it worked great, but as soon as I pulled out of the station, CEL!) all about the timing. I read somewhere on the forum that it "should not" effect the emmsions, but need some confirmation please. Thanks!
  21. What's up fellas..and ladies. I will start with a bit about myself. I love cars. I go through cars like people go through underwear. Nothing too nice or too new, just beaters. i work on them a little bit but get most of my knowledge from boards like this. As a result, I am a member in every automotive board from Toyota MR2 to the Mazda MX6 to the NewBeetle, Acura Legend, Jeep Wrangler, Toyota truck..ect ect. So I am not new to cars/trucks or forums about them. Infact, I am not new to Pathifnders either. I had a 88 2dr V6 manual tranny back in the day, I think that is the car I kept longest, about 2 years. I had no good reason to sell it and I still miss it, one of the fews out of 60+ cars that I miss. Well, enough about the past. Last week I bought a 98 SE for dirt cheap, I won't say how much, but let's say I feel like I stole it. The specs: 98 SE auto v6 automatic with 105k miles. Interior is 8 out of ten, just needs shampoo. Engine sounds great. Tranny smooth. The bad is a check engine light that gives me a knock sensor, o2 senser, evap. I reset them and the light has not come on, but I have not driven it enough and I know it is only a matter or time. When I scan it now, I get a knock sensor but no CEL. Hummmm. Plans: First I am getting a new TB, H2o pump, and knock sensor. And the o2 sensor if needed. I think i will be paying about $600 for all that. Also I had a bumped up rear bumper and removed it. Looking for a replacement now. This week I bought a 97 XE. I am giving this one to my brother in law since he got all jealous of the 98. This one is also automatic but has 135k miles. I paid 2100 for it and have n ocomplaints. Blew through insepctions and emmisions but it needs those rear control arm bushings bad. Probably add a timing belt, water pump and some A/C work to that before it is up to par. Ok, I have gone on enough and now must commit one of the sins of a newb---------> No pics yet. Anyways, I am glad to be here and vow to search before I post. Thanks, TheBox
