  1. Thank you everyone for the comments. Will look into the IAC valve. Been driving now for 300 km's and only had pop on the service engine light twice with the p0505 fault. I reset it each time and stays away for like 100 km's. And only pops on when the engine is idling at a red light or something. But idling is good btw. Sometimes little low around 500 rpm but engine runs smooth and doesn't stall... I'll do some research about the IAC valve and start looking for one if needed. Hopefully I can get one here in Mexico... Thanks again. Cheerio, Alexander
  2. Hi there, Thanks again for the responses! So what did we do... Took out all the spark plugs and injectors and cleaned them. Checked all the hoses and connectors again but nothing seemed wrong. After putting everything back together everything worked fine and he started perfectly. After 2 hours of driving the "service light" popped on. Did a scan and it's fault code p0505 Power train idle control system. That's the only one. Will search the forum if I can find some more information about that code. But this can indeed hang together with a crack somewhere. Extra air makes it extra hard to control the idle... Starts to make some sense... Now just have search for the crack! Thanks again!
  3. We changed the fuel filter and measured the pressure behind the filter. It do was a little clogged. You could feel some pressure blowing it and the fuel coming out was a little bit black. So that might be something... But why did it start and ran perfectly later on? We are now taking of the inlet manifold again to have a look at the injectors. Will update if we find something... Thanks for the response though! *Edit, we changed the fuel filter at the back of the car just behind the fuel pump in the tank. Maybe there is a second fuel filter somewhere I don't know about?
  4. Hi there, We've got a strange little problem. All help from you guys would be welcome cause we can't figure it out... The vehicle is a 2001 3500 V6 Pathfinder le with about 330 000 miles on it. Engine has about 200 000 miles. We just had to change the valve cover gaskets + coil gaskets because we were having a misfire due to oil around the spark plug. We changed all the manifold gaskets, new coil over boots, new grommets Now after installing all the parts we started the engine but it wasn't running good and stalled out. We checked the fault codes and this it what came up. After clearing the codes the engine started perfectly. We drove for 20 minutes and everything was fine. 10 minutes later I wanted to drive away and 100 meter further the engine died out on me without any symptoms. We can easily crank the engine but the engine doesn't make rumbling sounds. So it seemed like a gas problem. We sprayed some start spray in the intake and voila it started and drove perfectly. I drove back to the shop and there it stalled again. Only getting it running again with start spray in inlet manifold. We checked fuel pressure and that seems to be around 40 ( no idea about the unit...can check later on). Guys said this was good. We checked all the fuses and they all seem to be good. I have the feeling this is something small and electrical but have no idea where to look next. When we check the engine faults nothing is showing up. That's strange no ? Cause it died out about 3 times already... The engine faults attached are from before. When we were testing the fuel pump. I think that's the reason for the fuel temp and fuel level sensor fault. Cause after clearing and driving they were all gone... We allready changed MAF sensor and it didn't make a difference. Spark plugs are good, coils are good... We didn't check the injectors can this be the problem? But how come they work fine when the engine starts? Anybody any idea where to look next?   6. Thanks for the advice. And yes I have the alloy valve covers. Water thermostat was changed by the previous owner. He said there we're 2 on this car. One in the front and one in the back. He changed both. And I can't seem to find the hoses you are referring to. I found the pcv valve and connector on rockauto. But the breather hose and insulator hose not. But I assume this are normal hoses I can find in a general car parts store. Or are this molded vehicle specific ones?
  7. Thanks for the information! Checked the power valve topic and seems like an absolute must do if we take the manifold off! Will also order a PCV Valve to be sure. Thanks for the tips just what I needed! And I think I'm just going to order new ignition coils. Then I'm sure... Thanks again!
  8. Hi there, I'm new to the forum and have sort of the same question. So read it was best to answer in the forum... Sorry if this is not the right thing to do in my case... I had an misfire on cylinder 4, went to the garage and had the complete ignition coil changed because it was really oily. They said I had to replace the valve cover gasket + o rings for the ignition coils. We are currently overlanding and had allready bought a ticket from la paz , México to Mazatlán on the boat so choose to take the boat and have it fixed in mainland Mexico. Now we arrived here it seems like a lot harder to find the Parts. After asking around on expedition portal they send me here.. So the current plan is to order the Parts from rockauto and have them delivered to a friends house in Guadelajara and do the maintenance there. No I have some questions regarding what parts to order on rockauto. Cause it Will take a week ( on priority shipping) to get here and cost some money. So If want to be sure. The car is an American Pathfinder from 2001 with the 3500 v6 gasoline engine. I think I should order: - new intake plenum gasket kit - spark plug tube seal kit - spark plug Coil on plug boot - valve cover gaskets kit left / right + grommets Here a link of my current order on rockauto please say if i better order another brand or part https://photos.app.goo.gl/i4MnFF1tXU5yTDw18 Would you guys think it's better to order complete new ignition coils? Just to be sure. Or the boot alone would be enough? Or order a couple just in case. Cause we are planning to be on the Road for another 6 months going South to central America... And is there anything else you think of i can better replace now cause we are opening up the valve covers? The engine currently has about 300 000 km ... One thing to add is that prior of the misfire i changed the oil from mobil10w40 full synthetic to 10w30 Mobil full synthetic because the 10w40 wasn't available at that time. Can the thinner oil has something to do with it? And should i change it back to 10w40... A lot of questions but I like to do a thorrow job cause this car is our current home... Thanks in advance!   9. Hi there, I'm Alexander from Belgium and I'm currently overlanding in an 2001 3500 V6 Pathfinder le. I bought it in Los Angeles from a guy who allready did all the goodies... Lifted, shielded, pia's , 33 BFG , bumper guards,... I love the Pathfinder. Too bad I can't drive it home. Currently in Mazatlan Mexico and going South to ... Well no idea actually. Stumbled on the forum after I asked a question on the expedionportal. I'm currently having some problems with an oily ignition coil giving a misfire. Hoping to get some help from you guys.
