  1. I was useing 3m fuel injector cleaner and no I havn't tried running more then 1 tank full at a time. Could useing the fuel injector cleaner alot damage anything? Air filiter is good new k&N. I have only checked the MAH sensor, distributor cap, and run for codes. I dont know any other things to do. I'm just really thinking its something to with the fuel system because of how the cleaner seemed to fix the problem for a while.
  2. I just don't understand why the fuel injector cleaner seemed to fix it. What did that stuff do? And what is making the problem come back?
  3. I ran the codes came up 55 no malfunction. Yes the shop did replace the timing belt. And the MAF wiring looks good.
  4. Thanks. Checked the distributor cap, cleaned contacts, looks good. Still having the same problem. Im really thinking its the fuel filter. Not to long ago I had it replaced and if it needs it agian what is making it get all cloged up? I dont want to have to go through this every 3 months. Any info on replacing it would be great (im not paying a shop to do it this time)
  5. I dont know a whole lot about cars. Could you explain a little more about the distributor cap and rotor. Like how do I check them? Any links would be a huge help.
  6. I've done that. Your How-To was very helpfull
  7. My truck does this thing where as you accelerate it sort of lurches and you loose all power. Then might die when you stop. It has happened in the past and when taken to the shop I was told that the fuel filter was filled with crap so they replaced it. Fixed! Not so much, problem continued. I was later told that it was bad Safeway gas clogging up the filter. So I ran some fuel injector cleaner through it and started getting chevron gas. That seemed to do the trick. Now about a month later it’s worse then ever! I ran some more fuel injector cleaner which got me home but she still hardly runs. What now? Do I need to replace the fuel filter again? Why is it happening again? Thanks
  8. I'm looking into painting my wheels black but before I can do that they need to be cleaned up. How would you guys recommend I get these cleaned and ready for paint?
  9. Be sure the contacts are makeing contact. (hehe) Mine required some bending. In my pathy every light seems to be working except the reverse lights. Ideas?
  10. No more Safeway gas for me! What is it about the pathy that makes safeway gas run so bad? It runs just fine in our van.
  11. Lately my '88 pathy has been lurching a lot and dieing at intersections. It was kind of nerve racking not knowing if when you hit the gas you would go anywhere. The problem ended up being that the fuel filter didn't like Safeway gas which my parents had been putting in their Toyota van for years. I ended up replacing the fuel filter and at the time didn’t know it was the Safeway gas. So the next time the tank emptied guess where I went. It got really bad again and I discovered that it was the gas. My auto tech teacher recommended I just replace the fuel filter and run Chevron gas, or try using some 3m fuel injector cleaner. Since the filter had just been replaced I tried the cleaner and 12 gallons of Chevron gas. Fixed! Has anyone else had trouble with certain brands of gas? Or had a similar problem?
  12. I think im going to put off the body lift for now. And see if i can take some welding classes
  13. I want to put a trailmaster 3in body lift on my 88 pathfinder but I’m worried. In your opinion is it a good idea for a 16 year old teen with little automotive experience along with the help of another 16 year old and his dad who have a little more automotive experience to attempt this installation? It would need to be done in a weekend and have very few problems. I will need to drive the pathfinder to school and won’t have a lot of money for any repairs. I have been reading the how to write up 88 did and plan on following his instructions. I also won’t be able to weld anything. I apologize now for my horrible grammar and if this issue has been addressed before.
  14. Ok thanks alot for your input.
  15. This is my uncle’s pathfinder and we are trying to figure out if it has a lift and if it does what kind? (Body, suspension etc..) If different pics are needed let me know.
