  1. Could it be the MAF sensor? it looks like the ground was repaired/replaced before. i cleaned it a couple of weeks ago but this is before i discovered the TPS was unplugged. Does a bad MAF throw a code?
  2. When TPS is unplugged it will drive just has a high idle and 1-2 shifts hard.
  3. One thing, when i tested the TPS read .63Vdc closed, 4.27Vdc open. it should be .4v DC closed, 3.5-4 v DC open. Could that affect it?
  4. Do I need to do a idle learn procedure if I reset the computer(battery unplug)?
  5. Tach doesn't work so I don't know what rpms it reads but from listening to it, it doesn't go above 2k rpm. It will shift to 2nd but that's if I feather the pedal just so.
  6. Just tested TPS, power and ground and its all good and within range. I just got the vehicle with the check engine light on. guy told me it as the knock sensor...no knock sensor code when I checked it... from what I can see the previous owner spliced in a new connector for the TPS. So I don't really know its history other than its from Florida.
  7. Thanks, I read the FSM on fail safe reset and followed the procedure. Still does it. Also the power switch light doesn't blink anymore...which it used to but it would blink all clear before I plugged the TPS back in. Is it supposed to do that? I try the battery trick now and see what happens.
  8. So my 95 pathfinder xe v6 was shifting funny and had a high rpm idle and also the CEL light came on. Code 43 TPS... Went and checked it out and found that the connector had come lose, so I plugged back it in. RPM immediately went down and there was no longer that lurch forward when I shifted from P to D. I thought "great! problem solved!" Think again.. I go to give it a spin around the block and wont go past 20mph and when I try to go faster it prevents me from doing so. Is this "limp mode"? If so how the hell do I get out of it?! What other problem could it be? I need to drive it around for work and I have class tonight! Any help would be appreciated!
  9. Next is valve cover gaskets and does anyone know the part number for a transmission output shaft seal? Mine leaks right where the tranny connects to the pilot drive shaft. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
  10. So we had an unseasonably warm weekend in buffalo (50 degrees). So I managed to fix the hoses, replace the pcv valve & hose, replace the brake master cylinder and fix my son's $300 stroller that broke. Also cleared the check engine light that would come on as soon as I would press on the pedal which didn't come back on after I drove it around. I found a universal hose connecter thar worked pretty well for jamming into the air duct at autozone for $2. Not a bad day! Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
  11. Running rich sounds about right. Which is probably from the vac leaks. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
  12. Well that was comforting. I was losing sleep last night thinking about a blown head gasket. On my way to work today I noticed white exhaust at first but after 10 minutes odd driving it was gone. One thing I noticed was black soot at the trail pipe. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
  13. Oh yeah and it's February in Buffalo and I live a block from Lake Erie (consistent 30 mph winds). Maybe I should have built a garage instead of a woodshop. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
  14. Never did it before. It always seemed like one of those really intimidating repairs that people opt out on doing because of the difficulty. Problem is:Time, no garage to work in, and it's my primary driver. What's the estimated cost in materials and time it takes for the whole job...for a slow person? What kind of price am I looking at if I take it to a shop? Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks Slartibartfast, I'm sure I can rig some type of new tit to connect again. I'll have to too for the hose on the canister seeing as that's busted off (any ideas?) as well. I'm guessing my options if it is a blown head gasket is: rebuild, swap or ride it til it dies? Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
  16. I found a photo online that shows the routing for the lines! Now I just need to compare mine and see where the hell they go in. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
  17. Thanks I was wondering what the L meant. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
  18. Let's hope not! I know the cat started having a rotten egg smell before the white smoke and I figured the failed vapor canister caused the cat to clog and result in the white smoke. I haven't seen any coolant leak. How can I visually check for a leaky head gasket or cracked head? Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
  19. One thing I also noticed is white smoke coming from tail pipe (smells sweet) and a high idle as well. Could all these issues be associated with each other? I'm guessing so but another opinion would be appreciated. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
  20. Here's what I found with research. The colored lines are what I'm missing. Can someone tell me what size house I need and maybe snap a shot of there's so I have a clearer idea of where they go? Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
