  1. Thats all I used, and they haven't moved after a couple big hits.
  2. Just a good hand drill and a quality drill bit and some wide washers on the back. Thats why the holes are on the bottom for access to drill them. What is not shown is the beefy gussets welded at the top of the 2x2's and the mounting plate to help stop deflection.
  3. I think they look sweet, if we are looking for honest opinions here.
  4. Glad it worked out and I came out looking pretty smart which is really hard to do!
  5. I will be working on it again on this saturday after I get home from work, but I will still be drinking beer when I do it!
  6. By slap it on , I meant bolt it on so you could cross the border looking like it was always there...know what I mean?! No welding involved on your part. I will come up with a price, and if you agree, I could have it ready by the time you are in Toronto for that concert. I will PM you soon.
  7. Does this mean I have to park far away from the rest of you?
  8. I appreciate the compliment as this was my first R50 bumper to date. I have no problem making more, and I am sure I could find volunteers here so I could mock it up to their trucks. As for a price...I haven't thought about that yet. I owed Morpheus some favours for when his dealership did my timing belt, so I just built him a bumper as a return favour ( thats not an accurate description per say, but short and sweet). If I had people who were serious about one, I would do more. I have to do one for another WD21 ( bumper only ) but then I am free to fab new ones. I have been asked for blueprints, but I made this one out of my head, sort of on the fly with morpheus. To document and CAD this thing up is more work than I have time for ( I am going to be a Dad for the first time in less than 4 weeks! .) If I built you one I do have family and friends still in Windsor...so I could bring it down to the Detroit/Windsor border for you, slap it on and send you on your way. If you really want one, then I can seriously sit down and figure out a price. Thanks again for all the compliments, I had fun building this bumper and it is my favourite one out of all the ones I have built. It is the coolest bumper with the wrap around wings, better than the 6 or so bumpers I have built for Xterra's IMHO. Cheers Jay.
  9. You do know I come here once in a while right!
  10. I see what you are saying...it's a bad pic and wrong angle. We also adjusted the angles and such after that pic, so when you see it done it will make sense. It doesn't go up then down now, it goes across then down to the wheel well if that makes sense? Don't forget the angles from the back looking forward, give huge departure angle so you would really have to F-up to get it to act like an "anchor".
  11. What exactly is it that bothers you about the sides?
  12. I would say that machining round stock and placing bearings top and bottom is the ultimate pending on what you use for a pin or bolt. I like to use shoulder bolts( or called stripper bolts) myself due to its tighter tolerance to diameter. What I have also found is that by switching over to brass ( actually I think its more similar to Ampco) helps with carrying the load well. The previous washers I made were made out of a type of hard resilient plastic, but I found they wore out to fast leading to droopy swing arms. Don't forget the all important Zerk fitting in all hinge points. The latch we used was a bit of an overkill as well as it is rated to hold 2000lbs!
