  1. I'm so confused, but this information gives a half-chub.

I always felt when it gripped on ice/snow/pavement for me I could feel an instant shift of power... I always figured it was just a really good VLSD. I'm still not sure if I believe you, what if my diff says use VLSD oil only? Is that because it works better for this purpose?

  2. Are there any OEM locker diffs that are a simple swap or do they all require converting to 31 spline shafts?

R50's and their terrible locker selection.

I have the factory vLSD in the rear which catches pretty well, I guess my best logical option at this point with the least amount of work/money is putting a Lokka up front with manual hubs.

    Shame!

  3. I feel foolish saying this after how much thought went into your post however.

I have bank 2 02 codes as well..and I simply clear the codes and continue driving. Never done or heard of a test pattern drive (so maybe I'm out of my element) however..I have excellent gas milage and the truck runs like a top...clear codes and go.

I have the same code with no big issues, however lately mileage has been kind of annoying. How far can you go on a tank of premium fuel with regular driving?

I can always get a bit further when I drive super, super conservatively but that's not really realistic.

  4. I have my roof rack spare tire hi lift jack and shovel on my roof and have no issues...I've also thought about one of these

    Sent from Yeti!

Yeah I'm just a bit worried because I weigh 200Lbs myself... Plus the tents are generally around 60-90Lbs, and ideally I'd want something that could sleep 2 people if needed. I know the tents are designed to handle it, just not sure about the Pathfinder at this point!

  5. Lately I've been toying with the idea of a roof top tent, or forcing one to fit anyways since nobody makes them specifically for the Pathfinder.

I know the stock rails on the roof are only rated for 150Lbs, I'm wondering if I got stronger rails if I could just plop a tent on and go, or if they need some sort of re-enforcement?

  6. Dear mother of God I need to do this, didn't realize it was this simple.

I forgot to close my windows and turn on air re-circulation while following 3 trucks up a dusty mountain a week ago - I spent 2 hours yesterday vacuuming every square inch of my interior.

  7. Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the airbags in a 2001 R50 by pulling a fuse?

I'd like to disable mine on the fly when I'm crawling over rocks and things like that, on my last outing I had a few close calls that I think could have set off the air bag and done more harm than good.

Sorry, its a dumb question but I don't have a FSM.

  8. The problem with fender flares is that they will actually make it rust faster as they tend to pick up and hold onto a LOT of crap when you're driving around. Getting mud and dirt from out of there is a huge pain in the ass.

Unfortunately after I purchased my R50, I noticed a tiny rust spot on the drivers side rear fender, when I removed the flare, it removed most of the body it was attached to. I gently hand sanded the ever-living-@!*% out of it, then washed it, then treated it with some Por-15 which is probably the best rust converter on the market.

Aside from cutting it out and replacing the rusted parts, there is little you can do. Any rust converter will only delay the inevitable.

  9. Hey Guys,

I'm honestly not sure if this is a new thing, or if it's normal and I haven't noticed it until recently. One day after work I went to start my R50 and I kind of half-assed it when I turned the key so it sounded like it didn't start/died but then it kind of went "Brupbrupbrup" and started up anyways.

While it was brup'ing I noticed the oil pressure light was on, on my dash. But went away immediately after it started.

Now that I noticed the light I watch it when I start the vehicle, when I start it up it briefly flashes - You wouldn't notice unless you were watching it.

    Is this normal?

I recently did an oil change but only put in 5w30 - It's about 30 degrees celcius here daily - Maybe I should be putting in a thicker oil, especially if I'm 4x4ing/exploring/idling a lot? Thoughts?
