  1. I just did this yesterday -- I think in the beginning your in the mindset of doing it very carefully, therefore you end up doing it too slow. That's what I thought was necessary to make it recognize what I was trying to do. So, anyway, after doing that a few times with no success, I started doing it more quickly. I figure on my successful attempt I did it exaclty about one key insertion/removal per second. Perhaps even a bit less -- it felt like I was going too quick, but it worked. So maybe try the process a bit quicker. Good luck.
  2. Only 135k Just got all the rear lateral bars replaced yesterday ... the death wobble is no more!
  3. hahaha... I guess you're right Well, not as "old" as yours. I do have more miles on mine though! And believe me, for a '98, it's really rough around the edges.
  4. Okay, okay... I snapped a quick pic. There she is in all her glory. If you look close you can notice the mis-match rear door windows (the tints are different) from a "break-in" not too long ago. Funny thing is the passenger side is the opposite - from another break-in, of course. This was all before I owned it, not that it really matters. I've had it just about a week now. I gave the interior a thorough cleaning and the exterior a quick wash yesterday. It desperately needs some clay bar and cleaning wax attention soon. Just today I replaced a section of wiper fluid hose (had a leak) and dropped in a K&N panel filter. As I mentioned before, the rear control arms will get addressed soon - that death wobble has got to go. Would love to attend Nor'easter '07, but I won't be able to. I think by next year I'll have in her in good enough shape to attend. I've been wanting to get into off-roading for a while now. Thanks to all those who have responded so far.
  5. Hello NPORA - I'm new here out of Baltimore, MD. I recently acquired a white/tan '98 SE auto. It was my in-laws, then gifted to my wife, and handed over to me. I've been wanting an older suv/truck for a while now, so I'm excited to finally have something. It's been a bit neglected over the years, but I'm here to learn as much as I can and hopefully return it to some of its former glory. I've learned a lot here on the boards so far. In particular, I was able to diagnose the common "wobble" problem. Those rear control arms will be addressed sometime this week. Anyway, hello again - glad to be a part of NPORA. I would post some pics, but you've all seen a stock 98 SE I'm sure. Besides, I don't have any --Rob
