  1. Hey guys just thought you would like to know that the build is finished. The motor has 2 mins of run time on it. We will be doing the initial break-in tomorrow afternoon. Had a few issues with a coolant leak but it is sorted now. I'll post a list of everything I did to the truck and the parts I used a little later. Over all it was about a $3000 build. My local Nissan dealer was especially helpful. The parts guy bent over backwards to assist me as at every turn and even overnighted a new camshaft from California for me at their expense and allowed me to put a few technical questions to the techs out back and gave me employee cash prices on all my parts which added up to about %30 off OEM gear :)

  2. Any good places to go wheeling in Wisc? I'm over here in the Twin Cities and there isn't much that isn't 3-4 hours north.

Hey 0merta, there is a great place about 10 mins from my house called big falls park. Neat trails with deep ruts and some hills. Northing to serious but great scenery and a cool cliff to stop and have a beer at. I'm in Altoona WI, about 1.5 hrs from the cities. Let me know if ya wanna wheel sometime. I have mon - Thur most weeks off work.

  3. I would assume that is the switch that tells the ECU whether or not your hood is open, if it is open and you lock the truck does the alarm chirp at you?

It should chirp to tell you a door is ajar, in this case the hood. Now hold that switch down and lock again. It should lock as normal, if so... Question answered :)

  4. Thanks jyeager, I'm actually halfway through the build. I am sending the block and heads to a racing shop up in bloomer WI for hot tank and honing etc. I have all new valves and seals etc and .020" oversize pistons and rings. Do I still need to have the heads matched to the intake ports?6fa649b5d6396c09c585657766fefbdd.jpg

  6. Excellent! Thank you hawairish! I almost ordered a hanes service manual last night but a free factory service manual is 1000x better!

Hit me up if your ever in Wisconsin or thereabouts and wanna grab a beer on me and go wheeling.

  7. Thanks Omerta, I figured Vtec was an acronym from honda. I was just told the the VQ35DE has a similar technology. I am doing a full motor rebuild and wanted to order valves today but I don't want to get caught out with too many or too few. Thanks for the input.

  8. Hey guys. Does anyone know how many valves are in my R50 pathy. I believe the VQ35DE motor is a 24V DOHC motor? Is that correct?

Also is the VQ35DE in the R50 fitted with Vtec?

If it is indeed a 24V motor, does that mean 12 intake and 12 exhaust or 24 of each?

    Regards, Josh

  9. Hey greenda3, it excites me to hear of someone else running a basically stock truck with just 2 inch spacer lift and some larger tires as this is what I have been planning to do with my 02 LE for a while now. I'm in the middle of a complete motor rebuild then I want to lift her a bit but it gets pretty over whelming reading about guys doing SFDs and $1500 coil lifts etc. I think a 2inch spacer lift and large AT tires should be more than sufficient for weekend trail running and a long adventure trip across America with the Mrs. Did you have any trouble fitting the 33s? I will attach a link to the spacer lift I am considering, what's your opinion?

I tackled some level 4 and five trails. The wheels bend during a two mike long rock river bed trail. Lots of drop offs over 2 ft tall. Ill give tge pathfinders this: in all my years offroad, ive never seen a stock version go like this truck. I have 2 inch spacers and bfg33s. Thats it. Everyone with rock buggies and 60k dollar jeep builds thinks i some kind of wizard. Lmao. I do have lots of seat time driving serious rigs in some of the wildest trails but this truck is either magic or nissan was way into unbreakable design.

  10. Hey guys, call me a newbie but I'm pretty unfamiliar with manual hubs. How do they work with the selectable auto hubs in my 02 LE 17" rims. Will i be able to run with the RR hubs in 2wd and still use the 4x4 locked option in my pathy without getting out of the truck to get out of a snowy driveway and just use the RR hubs in 4x4 for hard core off-roading?

  11. Hey guys, as some of you know I blew the motor in my 02 pathy last week when 2 of the power valve screws came loose and were sucked into a cylinder. I have order a full DNJ Engine rebuild kit with new pistons, rings, gaskets, timing kit and freeze plugs. I also went ahead and ordered a new water pump, new drive belts, new oil pan (mine is rusted and thin) 2 lots of oil, 2 filters, new iridium NGK plugs and thermostat. I figured while the motor is out I might as well replace hard to get to parts that are relatively cheap.

My question is: does anyone think there is anything I haven't mentioned that I should replace or overhaul while the motor is out?

    Cheers, Josh

  12. Ok I deleted 7 identical threads, moved one from the General Section and one from the 96+ section to the Garage, then merged them both since responses had been split between them.

Please STOP making a bunch of identical topics! Nine of them in the span of 70min is extremely unnecessary and that is aside from the fact that when you create more than one topic on the same subject matter it just splits responses from other members across them all (which happened almost immediately here.) Online forums create a feeding effect where members can build off of one another's replies in order to better and more quickly help the original poster. This is negated when said responses are split between multiple topics. It also clutters the forum and frustrates members because they tire of seeing the same thing spammed all over the forum.

I apologize brother, for come reason the Tapatalk app kept telling me that I didn't have the authority to post a new topic when I attempted to post it. I hit post several times to try and get it to work before I gave up and went to work on the pathy. An hour later I went back to the app and realised that I had posted several time afterall and i attempted to delete them but was unable to. I apologize again guys.
