  1. Got the rust fixed on the passenger fender. The paint doesn't quite match, but I suppose it's close enough.

Had to use an air chisel to get the rear sway bar link out. I only had one laying around, so I gotta run and get another tomorrow.

My new power steering pump comes in tomorrow as well. Hopefully I can get everything done.

Still gotta get the alignment checked as well. The ball joints were done in 2011 but the boots are all cracked and torn. Hopefully they didn't get too worn out. I'll definitely end up replacing most of the front end parts, but I can't afford to do so now. Time is running out as well.

I should have some pictures posted some time tomorrow.

Thanks for the support everyone. This is going to be quite the journey.

  2. Its been a bit of a busy week, went up into the mountains to grab another Pathfinder, a 1987 SE V6.

Super clean, but needs some mechanical help.

    But back to Ol' Red.

Going to get two new fenders later today. Been spending my time cleaning, and doing minor maintenance. I think she is going to be looking pretty sharp soon.

After I fixed the idle issue, she runs so smooth that you can balance a nickle on end on the air cleaner while its running.

  3. Usually white smoke is burning coolant. Puffs of blue when you shift is usually valve seals.

Check your compression. You can do this quick and dirty by unplugging one plug wire at a time and listening to the rpm drop. The cylinder that reduces rpm the least has low compression and may be the culprit.

Just be careful, and try not to ground yourself to the body. It does not feel nice.

  4. Needs a fender and a few rust spots fixed, but it seems to be in great shape. The 3rd pic down is the extent of the rust on the underside.

I've got an 89 as a donor for CV shafts, new throttle body, and various mechanical components, as the body is about to rust off of it.

The red one has 230k on the clock, maintenance records from at least 2006, another set of rims and tires, although they are shot, and a dirty but undamaged interior. Plus the strut rods aren't even waller'd out. So far 500 bucks has been a steal.

Plans? 31x10.50s, a rehab and general cleaning of everything, fix the quirks, then use as a DD and weekend overland rig. I've got two weeks from the 9th of June to get it road ready for the 1800 mile roadtrip back to MN.

  5. Hello everyone, new guy here. Not new to Nissan's though. I've got an 84 720 that I've been DDing for the past two years. The carburetion is a PITA during the cold winters up here, so i figured why not get a Pathfinder? Picked this guy up on craigslist for 500 bucks. I'm headed down to CO to visit family and fix it up and drive back. But enough babbling, how about a few pics?
