  1. AHHHHH IM GIDDY!!! Redid my timing belt today, and the first thing I noticed when I tore down to it.... 39 teeth between cam marks, and 44 between the cam sprocket and crank sprocket.... Driver side cam was a tooth off, which in turn caused the ignition timing to be off, resulting in terrible misfiring and backfiring when I let off the gas. Now runs 100x smoother, quieter, acceleration is once again linear and unforced, and most importantly.... my exhaust sounds smooth again! Just wish I had had the time to do this so much sooner..

  2. Check to make sure that your upper/lower rad hoses arent clogged. Have you done your timing belt - might be time for a new thermostat. Or, maybe your coolant temp sensor is outta whack and needs to be replaced.. check the ohm level on it and compare it to the specs in the FSM

  3. Hey, I'm not saying that I had a pathfinder in the "old days," but that doesnt mean I wasnt one of the lurkers. My next door neighbor / best friend a couple of years older than me that had a blue two-door 90 back in 06, and we used this forum to do all kinds of stuff to it before safety inspection failure stole him from us

But hey!!! Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of me owning my truck so thats something!!

  4. I'd say he would have figured it out by now. Three months since he asked that question so I doubt he would have his Pathy sitting for 3 months doing nothing.

Totally did not even pay attention to the dates of the posts in the thread.. i still assume that its like the old days where a thread got 2 pages of posts in half a day..

  5. And got an airbag recall notice in the mail. Nice.

Wait 88's dont have airbags. I mean, my 91 does but its just a brown paper bag taped to the dash to make my girlfriend feel safer as a joke

With my new 31s, I dont rub when turning at all. Unless my tank is empty. Or I have any passengers over 150 lbs. Out of curiousity I checked the ride height in all 4 corners with a tape measure and not a single corner is at the same height as the others. :/

Going to look into the cost of getting new struts all around, and into what it would take for me to cut the tbar adjuster bolt off, drill it out and replace it with a new, unrusty/unseized one. And to reindex the bars, as after it settled back after having it on jack stands a few days, both corners are about 1.5" lower than the rear, with the driver side being the lowest of all 4 corners. Because thats where the driver sits :D

All in all stoked to hit up some trails on the 4th of July weekend with Wd21_Colorado (Adam) and Makaaa (Micah). Anybody else from the Colorado area down to join us? Slaughterhouse Gultch to Chinaman Gultch, and Imogen Pass if fuel usage permits/if its open

  6. Yikes. Good to hear everyone made it out. Hopefully the only lasting damage is to the Evo.

Still waiting on the manifold gaskets to (hopefully) get rid of the misfire. Gotta love the writeups here for making this stuff a little less intimidating!

Yea, I'm feeling much better now. The Evo's obviously totalled, but we managed to get the insurance company to give him all of the non-damaged engine goods
