  1. I bought my '95 new in '96. It was one of the last "good" ones I could find. I'd wanted one, and when the redesign came I had to get one before it was too late. Twelve years later, it's proved to be a good purchase. I'll roll 198K going home today. The past twelve months have been expensive, so maybe I held on a bit too long. The next guy is getting a rust-free chassis with a JDM replacement motor and new trans, alternator, Moog tie rod ends, OEM center link and ball joints, front shocks, front brake rotors/pads, front wheel bearings and starter. (I said it's been an expensive year. I wasn't kidding.) The A/C still works, never been in an accident. I hate to see it go, but with five cars in a household with two drivers it's getting a little nuts around my place. I'll throw in an extra oil filter and the Haynes manual too, just for good measure. I hope the next guy takes care of it like I did. I was going to offer it for sale here, but once word got around I was going to sell, I've literally had people stake their place in line in case the first guy that said "I'll take it" backs out. It's just hard to say goodbye to it. By far the best vehicle I've ever owned. My wife and I love it as much today as when I bought it. We're going to detail it one more time before handing over the keys this weekend. That's going to be a sad moment. Hell it makes me sad just thinking about it now. It wasn't perfect, but if they still made them just like it I'd buy a new one in a heartbeat.
  2. Thanks. I figured $1500 minimum, so I'm probably not far off then.
  3. I'm at 196K, and the reverse is gone. Pulled the trans pan (very bad design), and it felt a little gritty. Fresh fluid and trans filter didn't help anything. Has anyone had a transmission rebuilt, and can give me an idea of the cost? I did a search, and see there's been some experiences but no mention of cost. TIA
  4. I may be bailing soon, but it won't be due to rust issues. I've owned it since new. It's lived it's life in SE Texas. No salt. My problems are more age-related. The body's in decent shape, but at 193K there's a number of niggling little things that make using it as a daily driver not so great.
  5. I don't know if the frame's the same. Rather doubt it. We're looking at replacing our pathfinder too. No rust issues whatsoever (been in TX it's whole life, I bought it new), but the reliability as a daily driver is starting to come into question. So far nothing looks good.
  6. I'm not talking about the steering wheel - I'm talking about jack up the front end, grab the front tire at 3 and 9 and I've got 1/2" of movement easily. That can't be right. There's gotta be a way I can tighten it up. I'll keep working at it.
  7. Ok, new here. I have a '95 SE. Original owner. 188K w/JDM replacement engine. I just replaced the upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, center link and wheel bearings. The control arm bushings look fine. (BTW, don't pry the oil seal off the back of the knuckle if you don't have to. That's a $35 seal - Doh!) The needle bearings looked ok so I didn't replace them. I pressed in new races for the wheel bearings and the wheel exhibits zero bearing play. The problem is I still have play in the wheel. Grab the wheel at 3 and 9 and I get a good 1/2" of movement easily. I'm running out of things to replace. Any ideas? I did a search and got ideas of more to look at, just wondered if anyone has experience. TIA
