  1. Update: it's been a couple of weeks since the front hub lock outs, new springs and Rancho 5000 rear shocks install so here's the new gas mileage info and observations. After running thru three tanks of gas (regular as always) my mileage has gone from an average of 14.3mpg to 17.8 ! Worth the money after all! New springs spacers and shocks have dramatically improved ride height and stability while towing. But it seems a little "squirlley" on highway speeds while purposely swerving . New front struts may be the fix? The question is that in measuring rear height the passenger side is about 1 1/4 " higher than the drinkers side on level ground and an even load distribution. Is this normal? In the long Ron the money spent was well worth the outcome. Thanks for reading. KLUELESS II
  2. <a href="http://s1356.photobucket.com/user/joeglutz2001/media/IMG_0115_zps4b6a1ed0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q727/joeglutz2001/IMG_0115_zps4b6a1ed0.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_0115_zps4b6a1ed0.jpg"/></a>
  3. O.K so here are a couple of pic's after the spacer install. I hope this works or I'm gonna go POSTAL ! OH and before anyone ask's the divot on my bumper was thanks to a KLUELESS snowbird that didn't leave a note !
  4. Thanks for the invite but I live about three hours( with traffic) north of Miami. The storage lot is adequate and semi paved. It makes for a gravel extraction from parts of my body I wish not to share. As far as photo bucket or [ img] codes unfourtunatlety when I post or Reply there is no "tool bar" either at the top or bottom of the window.
  5. So first let me preface this with that I am not an "off-roader" but I do tow my boat on a regular basis. After reading several posts on the least expensive way to get some additional lift out of my 03 Pathfinder SE (My ultimate goal was to keep my rig level when I hooked up my boat) I decided to go with the 4x4 design product from Steve Fleury. I ordered a 2" rear spacer kit after consulting with Steve via several emails ( BTW thanks for your patience). Seeing as how my pathfinder was fast approaching 100k miles I decided to order a set of stock springs to install at the same time to further the overall result. Steve's spacers arrived in no time ( and that's a first cause everything I order from Canada seems to get stuck in customs for an additional week) I ordered my springs from auto zone for a measly $62.00. And borrowed a spring compressor kit from them as well. Ok now the tricky part... I live in a condo that does not allow any type of vehicle repairs whatsoever. And after sneaking in the locking hub install I didn't want to push my luck.I knew this job was gonna take a little bit of time so I found a local do-it-yourself garage that would provide a lift and tools if needed. ( my tool box is adequate but it's always good to have a back up). I called the guy yesterday and set up a time to meet at 0830. Well guess what the lazy f## never showed up ! Ok so on to plan B. Drove over to the storage lot that I keep my boat at and get everything organized. Tools jacks stands beer etc. I don't really like doing parking lot repairs but I had my whole day planned around this. So I finally started Turing my first wrench at 0945. After watching several YouTube videos I knew what I was getting into and what to expect. I started on the passenger side and after a couple of trial and error spring compressor placements I finally got the the old spring off and started the reinstall . This is where it got a little tricky after taking off the old spring I did not take notice of the spring compressor placement and after trying to reinstall the spring and the spacer I found myself with a "stuck" compressor. Well by that time I guess it was time for a Beer and some contemplation. Half way through my beer I had an epiphany! I got the compressor realigned and out she popped ! Reinstalled the tyre and now off to the drivers side. After my trials an tribulations the passenger side took half the time the drivers side took. Viola! Done! Total time was three and a half hours and one and a half beers ( I didn't want to get poo poo faced working with high tension springs). After getting all my tools cleaned and organized I finally had a chance to take a moment to see the overall result. And MAN what a result! The back end sits a easy 1 1/2. To 2" higher and after hooking up my boat there was absolutely NO sag! The only bad thing I experienced that after getting back on the road I realized that I had to adjust my mirrors to accommodate the additional height. In closing I wish to send a BIG shout out to Steve Fleury and 4x4 Design for the great product and also let everyone know that you can do this install WITH new spring in your back yard driveway...whatever. No big deal! I also know that pictures would be a great benefit but unfortunately this forum does not play nice with IOS and my IPad . So until that is sorted out I guess yer gonna have to take my word for it. Thanks for reading and tight lines! KLUELESS
  6. Thanks everyone for the replies to my post. I kinda figured that was the situation but it seems as though even when I am running on a flat road the transmission wantS to down shift even after begin at a steady rpm. I guess it's one of those little things that will bother me in the future. Thanks again KLUELESS

  8. That is is GREAT topic because I myself had an issue with my BOSE unit after I purchased my 03 LE. The solution was a Pioneer BT 530 with a Pandora App built in. It also was blue tooth capable and a back up camera installed (very helpful hooking up the boat) As far as installation I will not be very helpfull because I had it swapped out from my "old" vehicle and into my Pathfinder by Best buy. As far as enjoyment I am not a fan of morning disc jockeys and live with my Pandora app. Although I did have to upgrade my data plan through my cell phone provider. The fit was perfect and has a very pleasant eye appeal ( all my girlfriends love it). As far as sound quality I did not opt for the amp package that was offered but for my taste it is adequate. If I could figure out how to post pics I would be happy to share those with the forum. Thanks for looking KLUELESS
  9. O.K. First let me say that I checked the "pinned" topics prior to this post so hopefully I am not breaking any forum rules. The observation is as follows.... When I first start my morning commute which is very regular I have noticed that my tachometer is reading (approximately) 2250 RPMS for the first 5 miles or so depending on the ambient temperature and then will decrease to 2000 RPMS after that @ 60 miles per hour. I also seem to have an intermittent observation of the RPMS fluctuating between 2500 and 3000 @ 65 MPH. This is not a regular occurrence but is some what bothersome all the same. It is most noticeable while towing my boat and under a moderate load IE up a hill. Has any one else noticed this and if so is it normal or should I start "teching" it out. I seem to remember someone else posting some thing similar but I can't seem to find the same symptoms. Any help would be greatly appreciated. KLUELESS
  10. Short time update: Today I decided to do some meaningless running around. Mostly town driving. Hit 50+ miles on the trip odometer and I haven't even hit the 3/4 tank mark. I usually get about 120 to the half tank hash mark so tomorrow I will try to get to 100 miles and top ofF the tank for a "recorded" update. I also am planning a trip to a prior location that normally burns 3/4 of a tank one way next week (weather permitting) and will also update that result with a full tank and towing the boat. Again thanks ,and please be on the look out for my next question/ post about a transmission question. KLUELESS
  11. First of all I want to say THANK YOU for this thread ! I found this about a week ago after doing a search about improved gas mileage on my 03 Pathfinder. I have since joined the " community" and I am very impressed with everyone's knowledge and respect for other members. O.K. With that being said, after reading and re-reading the whole thread at least three times I ordered a set of 4 WD Pros from Amazon. My issue was that where I live I am not allowed to to do any type of vehicle maintenance in my parking lot. So time was and issue. after reading all the posts on tools and "hiccups" I was fully prepared to tackle this job before the " condo commandos" got there panties in a bunch. After getting all my tools gathered and two pots of coffee got started turning wrenches at first light. The whole project took a total of 45 minutes and only had one issue with the drivers side old hub being slightly frozen. But with the information provided here I knew what to expect and was prepared with some WD 40 and a brass hammer. I was also fortunate enough to have the 6 spoke stock wheels that after popping out the center cap allowed me to remount the wheels with no cutting or modification to the wheels. I wish I could post some pic,s of the before and after but I am still researching the correct way of accomplishing this and will edit my post in the future. Now with the Immediate observations and impressions. I have a KIWI mpg on board fuel computer installed and for the last week while waiting for delivery of the hubs I took detailed notes on average and instant gas mileage for comparison after the install. Here are my results so far. Let me preface this with I live in south Florida and the the roads her are "flat" so I get a pretty good visual of instant MPG. My pathfinder is used for one thing only and that is to tow my boat to and from the boat ramp that is about 17 miles away. I also occasionally take a extended trip to other locations in the area. On my "commute" to the boat ramp I set my cruise control at 60 MPH for the first 10 miles the instant mileage on my KIWI was 21mpg prior to the install of the locking hubs. After the install the instant mileage is 27 mpg ! The next leg of my commute is a five mile stretch @ 45 MPH.Prior to the install the instant mpg was 29 mpg after install. 33 mpg. The final leg of the commute includes stop signs stop lights and increased traffic so instant mpg is not easily detected. One of the biggest observations is the overall "feel" of the trucks performance. I can feel the biggest difference with coasting after I disengage the cruise control and with my foot off the accelerator it is like I have shifted into neutral ! Second the over all "feel" of acceleration is greatly improved. Now as far as overall increased mpg I have yet to determine this. I topped offs the tank yesterday and am looking for an improvement from my current 14 mpg. I will post these results In about a week. In closing I am so far extremely pleased with my decision to install these locking hubs. I have owned this truck for about a year and a half and was always disappointed with my gas mileage. I am extremely pleased with the overall performance of my Pathfinder and have had no issues with is since I bought it. I think my next project will be to install the coil spring spacers on the rear to improve the level of my truck when I am towing my boat. Again thank you for the forum and the knowledge provided !
