  1. Starting Friday night, I figured I'd try to make it up to my truck for hitting the column by finally tackling the electrical and installing parts. So I installed:

New from Nissan multi-function stalk = Dash lights now stay lit and cruise control works all the time

JY washer/wiper stalk = intermittent wipers now work

JY automatic heater/air controls = AC blows cold on #3 setting, not just 1 & 2

Reworked the power outlet = (hopefully) no more blown USB power adapters

JY door lock timer (with re-soldered connections) = the doors now unlock themselves when I try to lock them, instead of re-locking when I try to unlock them.

  2. Yah, what fman and Terrano said...

There are instruction on how to install in the How-To section here: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/1499-help-me-install-my-ebay-impulse-buy/

It's got roll, pitch, and an "altimeter" - really a barometer that you need to set. IMHO, it would have made more sense as a compass, but  - it is what it is.

Easy fit for square-dash WD21s. They also made them for D21s - the difference is the outlines in gauges looks like a pickup instead of an SUV.

  3. Sounds like it will be a blast! And at least in this neck of the woods, there are plenty of part stores err, JYs if you need to stock up on parts. :D

(AK's a bit out of the way, though... I hear AR's nice this time of year...)

  4. Jacob-

Here's what :search: revealed for Interior Mod threads: this, this, this, and this. (Links in those will take you farther down the rabbit home, too.)

On my rig, I've done this (details here)

    ExpBox-6.jpg

Also this (similar idea to Manik)

    IMG_0588.jpg

    And installed this eBay find

    Inc-Ins.png

Not pictured are the new head unit and speakers, auto-dimming mirror, or Audi A4 cup holder installed in the armrest.

Make sure to post picts of whatever you end up doing to your rig.

  5. Just got back from a road trip, and was getting 20.75 MPG on the Interstate.

Around town, it's 15.5 to 16 MPG, depending on how aggressively I'm dodging idiots who can't go the speed limit driving. B)

That's with stock manifolds and exhaust.

  6. I believe the VIN Tranlates to:

March 1994, Wagon, VG30E motor, XE trim, Auto Trans, 4WD, 49 state emissions, paint code, what factory it was made in?

    B -

    You're normally so precise... :lol::lol:

    KH3 K = Paint Code + Interior Trim = Super Black + Grey

The plant code for WD21s was W = Kyushu, Japan

    J-

Welcome. It's amazing the information that this forum has. You're in good hands for pretty much anything you want to do to your truck.

  7. About a month ago, I started getting a "thunk" noise when I turned the steering wheel full right or left - like when I pull into a parking space. Usually it's just a single thunk.

I've also noticed a "rattle" or "vibration" coming from underneath when driving on rough roads - almost like there's something starting to come loose. It's not a loud, constant noise - it's more subdued than that. And that seems to be coming from both the front and back - but I can't be 100% certain on that. :scratchhead:

I'm planning on replacing the shocks in a couple months and adjusting the torsion bars at the same time.

I'm assuming that won't fix it, so what else should I be looking at that could cause the "thunk" and "rattle"? And would they be related, or should I be looking at two different causes? I'm assuming that it's something that's worn out, but I don't know what I should be looking for (or at).

To save y'all the hunt: WD21, VG30e, 4x4, stock suspension

As always, thanks to sharing your collective knowledge.

  8. Keep the Danger pics coming! As for getting underfoot, be careful until you have him trained.

From my experience, training cats isn't as tough as it sounds - just takes a little persistance. We trained Persephone to fetch a rattly ball and to "sit and stay" waiting to be fed.

  9. Same here - almost everything but country and rap. Lots of alternative and punk - with a lot of British stuff.

Most played would be Beautiful South, The Ramones, Dogs Die in Hot Cars, Buckcherry, and Jimmy Buffett.

Upgraded the head unit and speakers a few weeks ago, so much better sound now. (Still needs a little more "thump" though.)

  10. I'm not sure how I missed this thread before - I thought I'd read through everything. :scratchhead: Oh, well.

I know what it's like having to say goodbye to our furry family members. Our kitties have been:

    - Hodge Podge (1989 - 1992) - got out and never came back

    - Blondie (1990 - 1996) - had to put her done because of cancer

    - Portnoy (1993 - 2008) - just old age

    - Kliban (1996 - 2009) - complications from diabetes

A drink will only go so far to dull the heart ache... For us, at least, we need something else furry to fill the void.

So our current fluff butts are Persephone (my cat, the grey one in the tube) and Pandora (wife's cat, the black one photo bombing on the couch).

Below is Persephone trying to "help" me work. As you can see, she's a big girl - 14 pounds of muscle and fur...

  11. In the video on the Nissan Euro site, it showed them spraying a coating onto the already painted car. It wasn't clear to me if it's going to remain a coating after the fact, or if they plan to have it in the paint itself.

I'd forgotten about NeverWet - but that is what this seems like!

And to B's point, how's it going to deal with bugs? Guess we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

  12. I don't know if this is a good thing or not...

I'm a trail guy, but for all y'all who like mudding, this could be a challenge when telling your friends about the weekend.

You say: "Yah, mud was up to the wheel arch and I was flingin' it everywhere."

The truck says: "Mud? What mud? I was at Macy's..." because it looks like the right side in the pic below.

For me, there's something almost therapeutic about washing the truck. Maybe for sedans and mall runners...

  13. OT, but I'd like to congratulate you for owning one of the rarest Pathfinder's.

    Thanks Dennis!

From the numbers I've seen floating around the Internet, only between 500 - 1200 were imported into the US.

I only saw one other '90 2-door on the market before I bought mine - and I was on the hunt for ~9 months.

With any luck, I'll be keeping this one out of the JY for a very long time!

  14. It's been a busy couple days...

Replaced the sun-baked factory nerf bars with new ones from Westin.

Replaced the sun-faded mirrors and cracked door handles with new to me set of JY mirrors and door handles.

Installed a new head unit, new amp, new speakers, and a whole bunch of sound dampening material.. (Only the front speakers are working now, so that will give me something to do tomorrow...)

Removed the factory VSS (since it didn't have passive arming or remote entry) in prep for a new alarm sometime later.
