  1. Car started making strange noises yesterday, found out that two exhaust hangers had broken and the pipes were hitting the cross member. Both bolts on the frame to one hanger snapped & the replacement I had gotten from the store was the wrong one anyway. Found an old universal hangar and now it's all set. I also wiped off the rear end to find I have an LSD. Was pretty good.
  2. They got rid of the 6-speed for 1996 Supras for emission requirements, wikipedia says for OBD-II requirements as well. Then they brought it back, except in CARB states.
  3. I started with my grandfather's 1996 Ford Thunderbird LX (v6) died in an accident when I was in high school. Then no car for a while, had a 2000 Ford Taurus wagon. Could fit a 55' flatscreen in the back with the seats down! Then got an 85 Monte Carlo from a junkyard. Still have it, need to fix it. Sanded the roof down to bare metal and the tarp over it blew off so it's getting rusty. Then a 99 Dodge Intrepid, which a woman totaled after flooring it through a rotary because she didn't want to yield Now the pathfinder!
  4. The two indoor cats She showed up a few years ago and my father started feeding her. Took her years but she sits in my lap now and scratches everyone less!
  5. Yeah, that was a dumb question! Thank you. Thank you for the picture. For some reason I had a lot of trouble understanding the difference but I think I'm better off just leaving everything the way it is. I'll set mine to recirculate if it starts to bother me. Really appreciate all the help everyone.
  6. Would it be a big project to swap in the manual controls? I'll get used to it, but it would be nice to have it on only when I want it on. I'm wondering if it's more than plugging a manual unit if I could find one in the junkyard. Auto controls are really weird to me!
  7. I didn't feel anything with defrost on. It's while it's moving, not in park. You are right I think that it's probably air in the intake cause I really noticed it last night coming home on the highway. Okay, thank you. I never realized it had automatic controls. That is very good to know. I don't think I've heard the a/c compressor coming on, I leave the bar in the middle on 75. I never run into the style of buttons on these and I've noticed you kinda have to press two of the buttons together to make one of them pop off so that no air mode is on. I know that isn't the clearest description but should I be driving with the fan in the off position and the blower set to anything but defrost ? Thanks again everyone I really appreciate the help. Trying to get these little things all sorted out.
  8. Oh wow, for some reason I never thought that could be the case! https://www.dropbox.com/s/2mbo5t77zxitbck/20130430_014451.jpg I just took a quick picture I'm not sure if that's the automatic controls? Is there anyway to disable that feature? If not do you think it hurts my MPG's a great deal? Thank you for helping me out
  9. Hey everyone, I did try searching for this issue so if this is something I missed I'm very sorry. Anyway, I have a 93' Pathfinder and I've noticed that it tends to always blow air on my feet if I don't have anything selected on the control unit. The fan speed is set to off, but I can feel air and I don't think it's truly turning off. I also found that if I play with the temperature slider it'll get hot or cold, leading me to be concerned that something is wrong. I made sure that when it happens none of the fan buttons are lit. I've been told sometimes older cars never really shut off the climate controls so maybe someone can set me straight on this. Thank you!
  10. Replaced the stock radio with a working one I've had! I also cleaned the MAF & throttle body.
  11. There are enough okay parts that I'm sure it can be saved. The title was me joking I'm not very funny! I can grab a can of that and hopefully that'll fix it without anything expensive being wrong. I think the guy I bought it from did a tune up but it wouldn't hurt to go over it again. It was a small garage place so they gave it a once over to make it sellable. 18 mpg would be fine with me, if I can get it there I'll be very happy. Thank you! Thank you! The rust can be dealt with, I'm really happy the dashboard isn't cracked. It didn't come out in the picture but the carpet has lots and lots of little stains, the floormats are original and kinda filthy. I have carpet cleaner and hit it once so far. Headliner is stained too! Truck doesn't smell bad inside though, I might try one of those rug doctor machines if it really starts to bug me.
  12. Thank you very much for your advice. Transmission is the first thing I'm going to look at. I peeked at the fluid and it does have enough, but I should double check and then check those lines. Gunna stay positive and hope it's a minor issue. Then I can focus on the frame. It was kinda dirty inside, I don't think I want to know what the previous owner was up too.
  13. Haha, that is absolutely the truck I bought. Thank you for that, I need to go over there and show them! There is some great info here, I'm really glad I found this site. I'll be really glad when I can get this thing running right! I'm hoping to make it last.
  14. Thank you! I live in Medford (10 mins from Boston proper). This absolutely is from Craigslist, it was in North Andover. I paid $1600 for it.
