  1. So my 87 I4 2 Door Pathfinder came with 30x9.50R15 tires mounted on 15x9.5" wheels. I thought that was an odd size to have on my Pathfinder, but there didn't seem to be any problems, except for wear. So I went to the local Big-O-Tires to get some new 30x9.50R15 tires, and the mechanic says that the 30x9.5 tires shouldn't fit on my 9.5" wheels, and should at most go on an 8" wide wheel.

Obviously, I've got those size tires on my wheels, and they hold air fine, so Is this guy full of crap, or what? In any case should I stick to the 30 tires or go with a 31 size tire?

  2. Just a note: I never did like the location of the starter on the V6, as it sits just below the oil filter - I always make it a point to cover up the starter with an old plastic bag when I change the oil filter so that the old oil doesn't spill all over the starter

  3. Though it looks like a nice place and clean install, you are going to make a mess when you go to change it with it installed like that. :togo:

Better than the stock location and getting oil all over the starter, though :) Plus it looks like there is some room to put a pie-pan under to catch the oil while changing.

  4. They have been crushing cars here in California for a while now - quite a waste IMHO. While I don't condone street racing, I feel that they could have done something more productive with the cars like sell off the parts.

Heck, in some counties they will pull you over and want to pop your hood just because they "suspect" you are going to be street racing, for example, due to a louder muffler, even if you are just puttering along and following the speed limit. So much for due process.

  5. I noticed my PS fluid was leaking pretty badly and noticed there was a bit of a gap between the bottom of the steering box and the pitman arm:

Is that normal to have that much of a gap?

Either way, I guess I'll be looking for a replacement - are all the V6 WD21 steering boxes the same - for example, will a '95 fit on my '87?
