  1. well i really didn t see any metal deposits so it s a good sign check fluid hot or cold? because i ask this and did both hot and cold and it s really low just wandering what to put in to top it off or should i just take it to a shop thanks
  2. since i m not a mechanic at all and cannot do any of the work but only tell you what s going on to the best of my ability. i think when i ckeck the tranny fluid i saw some metalic greyesh things on it . i will check tommorow to see if it s really there [ Flush that transmission or drop the pan and see whats going on] ok i really don t know how to do that ,what should i tell my mechanic?? My fluids looked perfectly red, but when you'd wipe the dipstick, if you looked realy close there was a grayish deposit on the dipstick (probably torque converter fillings).ok if it has that on the dipsticks what can i do can you explain to me what s is going on without auto terms so i can understand what did you do? is my tranny f'cked?? how long do i have ?? is this fixable ? blah ,blah blah fill me in please i will let you know for sure if it s there tommorow thanks
  3. i m going to try and explain this the best i can i have a auto trans with OD so first when the car it s cold the tranny switch gears pretty hard which i think is due to the coolant is cold once it s warm it switch fine. second,when i m in 2gear and i ease off the gas to get into third gear ,once in 3rd gear low rpm or from 1st to 2nd too, it feels like this: when you drive a stick shift and you change gear but not enough power so it kind of poot-poot :confused: until i hit the gas again then it get out of that stage and go on fine you got to understand i had a 92 mustang before and the tranny was pretty bad in it so i guess i got to get use to this. but when i don t have the OD on it doesn t do this ? so is it just me ?? or maybe it got to do with the factory coolant system which i m switching oh and for you think pathy are underpower i beat a 2000-2003 mustang of the line (probably the v6 or he didn t hit it all the way but i really think he did)-bounce- but after i had me once i hit 40mph but still got it of the line with OD off of course. sweet ,anyways thanks maybe i m trippin on the tranny but just wandering what is it or what can i do before to prevent the tranny from going out thanks kevin
  4. hello everyone . i m trying to find a affordable head unit i find this and just wanting some input. 22watts rms and 50 peak not too bad for the price http://www.crutchfield.com/S-UAG84tZG2XQ/c...300&I=113KDC135 any advice would be great from the audio genious in here is it good or can i find something better around that price range thanks oh and i going to change my factory 6by9 in the back any ideas ,what brand etc....

  6. ok ok sorry guys for just trying to understand ,jeezzzz i m not a expert like most of you so it s better to get all info before even doing something any ways some good news. i had those factory front speakers 5-1'4 which sucks... i bought a set of alpine 6' speakers for 20$ at a junk yard and install them all by myself now it sounds sweet just need a cd player anyone have one for sale??? so what are your uca??javascript:emoticon('') smilie ok ok just kidding i finally understand the front suspensions system except could any one post a pic of the ball joints so i can ckeck if they r bad or better yet take a picture of a ordinary front suspension and get some arrows to every thing . i think i see everything but it would be nice thanks for yelling at me to understand btw 88pathy your pathy looks frickin' awesome sweet ride ....
  7. here are some pics of the springs from the jeep 2 differents sets but the same ok now if i get those install i will need to change my shocks now for the front ,change the uca (will that change the ball joints too or need to indivisual set) now because it doesn t make sense how cranking up ur torsions bars give you lift since they parralel to the frame and not perpendicular like shocks what you anyone suggest to do in the front ? because if i raise the back with the springs i need to do some in the front so i don t look goofy one mechanic told me you have to change the whole front end because they really bad ??? what should i change before i go offroad like uca ,tie rod ....anything else thanks for the timing belt i was change when they put in the motor at 110k now 164k so i don t think it s neccesary right?? so i got a 1990 pathy with 60k miles ,sweeeeeeeeeeet will get the tranny bypass soon (shop charge 50$ can i do it myself } i don t want to use the original totally bypass it it s different then just hook it up . wish some of u pros :bow: was close to me arhhhhhhhhhh thanks kevin
  8. i found some coil springs at junkyard for 35$ A PIECE but i don t know if it s the right one ,came from a 1996 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 so i guess it s right i will post some pics and see if someone can tell me thanks
  9. thanks mr pickles very good description of suspension. i get it ,yes and i did mean the rear springs of JGC ok but if i crank my torsion bars apparently cause more problems then wanted. so get stronger after market ones and then crank them up . i still don t get the uca which is the a shape thing. what you get from changing the factory ones to aftermarket ones???

  12. sounds easy when you describe it but i m sure if i don t know what i m doing it will blow up in my face. if i go get the coil springs and bring them a UCA would they be able to do it at a shop or look at me like i m stupid i really don t want to jack up my torsion bars because of problems with doing that can i get a after market torsion bars and what is the upper control arms located? a pic would be great ok can you install the coil springs from a JGC in the front too!? i feel really retarded bec i see the description how to do it and what to get but i still confused sorry i don t have any experience with pathfinder and i don t think i will install it myself so i need to know what i need to get and what would work best? so far i got the rear coil springs from 87-94 jeep grand cherokee but the trick is to make it fit,hahaha would i also have to change my shocks with this. about the front i m still confused on what to do since i don t want to jack my torsion bars up so my next guess would be to get a upper controls arms and what else.......??? new shocks too!! -thnkboutit- so
  13. yes apparently the headers are a big hassle to put it and sometimes leaks as well. the noise is just a ticking and goes away when hot for now not a major problems. it actually sound like i got a bad ass carburetor
  14. ok since i don t think i can do this job myself cause i don t know nothing at all about suspension and shocks. i read a lot about the coil springs(how-to)but got really confused with what kind of springs needed. so if i get the JC springs for the back ,would i need new shocks too? ok now that my rear end is higher what about the front? and anyone can guide me for the UCA what to get ,what brand and cheap cause i also have to have it install. thanks .. i also have rancho shocks in the front just don t know how big they are

  17. the guy i bought it from got a nissan xterra and those rims are the factory rims for it . thank you for the nice comments. has far as people said it does have power ,that s not true my got really good low gears power. but apparantly i got that exhaust manifold problems . when i turn it on ,first a lot of thick white smoke coming out the exhaust which my mechanic says it s normal the engine clear out everything while it s been park for a while but the smokes go away after a while. i ve been reading about getting headers but that s a lot of money . then that ticking noise when i hit the gas but after a while it goes away.. any other alternative. another problem is when i turn hard left and it the gas i heard a noise and feel something unusual just wandering what it is ...? thanks also i was thinking on adding lucas transmission fluid to make it shift smoother? good idea or bad? i ve been trying to find a trails map in georgia so i can test the 4wheel drive but can seem to find any ??

  21. hello everyone ,this is my 1st post ever since i ve been reading a lot on the forums and just bought a 1990 nissan pathfinder 4by4 from a friend for 2000$ plus a new set of 31 inchs tires and saw look alike rims ,what a nice deal ,he has been the only owner of this vehicle . the only thing that was wrong was the head cover gaskets leaking probably from the seals which i got that fix for 170$ for both sides not to bad since it s a major job since they have to remove everything to get to it . they work on it from 9am to about 5pm ..... there s still a little oil residues on the exhaust which the mechanic told me will go away after it is all burned. i really enjoy this forum and is probably the best out there. i wanted to know more in details about getting some ground clearance without a lift bec to expensive and i know you can do others things way cheaper like coil springs and.... please could anyone tell me what can i do to this lovely beast. i m also doing the external cooling system for the tranny but need some info on which one to get .i guess the bigger the better right. i glad to have found this forums glad to be here,kevin oh and i can seem to upload my pics for it ,any help
