  1. Good info. I'll def look into it a little more and start to work on it. Thanks for all the help and info
  2. No bad driving habits really either. Pretty easy on it. It's been babied so I figure I'd slowly break it in.
  3. So after having my Pathy for a few weeks now, I've gotten to fill it up a few times. On my last fill up I calculated 13.8 mpg... I work about 3 miles from the house and it's normally stop and go all of the time around town being in a Houston suburb. (In my Tacoma I was getting about 16.) Please tell me this is not normal. I took it on a road trip about 500 miles round trip and seemed okay. About 18 mpg on the hwy running 75-80 mph. Being new to Nissan. Any ideas on what to look for to improve this? I'll be looking into doing air filter, plugs and wires if my next calculation is just as bad.
  4. I've been looking for a thread maybe showing how some of you have been creative with your lights and different mounting options and ideas. Maybe post some pics of your set up.... I've got the big Pathfinder rack with the big air dam on front. I was looking into maybe finding a 3rd sliding rail so I can slide back and forth or even take off for daily driving.
  5. What ya want for one of the sliding rails? I'm thinking of rigging a temporary light rack/system that I can put on when I know I'll be using them. That way I don't have the drag of the lights for daily driving
  6. Yeah the Deck Plate Mod we've been talking about the last few days def made a difference in the sound. On my old Yota though.
  7. I've found that unless you're doing the cutting and welding, your best deal is probably a muffler shop. I've gotten the labor rate increased by bringing in my own to have put in. Still not too familiar with Nissan options as far as cat back systems. But flowmaster has always worked for me. Warning, I've gone back to stock both times from having my brains rattled out. That was on my Toyota though. My Pathfinder has a stronger motor so I can only expect it be even lowder
  8. I had it done on my Tacoma and was SUPER easy and clean. I just picked up my Pathfinder today. Will look at it tomorrow and see how I can pull this off.
  9. Damn. I knew it was too good of a deal to be true. You know how much that ran you. Still could be a good deal
  10. Lookin around on a local classifieds page and found some 2006 Xterra wheels. Think they'd look good on my 2002 Pathfinder Are Nissan 6- lugs universal? Is there a special link for this info? Not sure on back spacing. Was thinking about getting them and powder coating them black or gunmetal
  11. Thank You so much. lol I'm pretty bummed about the suspension options after coming from Toyota. I love my Fox coilovers. Do these lifts improve ride quality. I know she just put new shocks on it. However I think I want to lift it a bit just to change the appearance from "The Mom's Pathfinder" and toughen it up a little. Do I NEED longer shocks if I go with a 1.75" OME ? I thought I read a few places that they did without. I'll prob leave the new Michelin LTX on it just for the DD aspect. Don't mind a "mall crawler" or "street queen" for now as long as as it can handle the moderate off road it will see for a bit. THanks for all the help. Will pick up this weekend and get some picks up. Is there a Garage page or something where you can have your own thread just to document your build up. On my old forum they had one that you were the only one who could update. Was kinda neat to follow some builds without everyone throwing their opinions and comments cluttering it up with off topic stuff.... Kinda like this one. I must say. You guys are WAY more friendly here. I would have been burned about 2O times already on this single thread Thanks for all of your help
  12. It keeps water out of boats... Will seal up box as well as stock. I never said huge changes in MPG but every little bit helps these days
  13. here's a link. there are pics on the right hand side http://www.top4runners.com/ja/perf.html
  14. Coming over from a Toyota off-road forum. I've seen a few posts on here about getting a little MPG improvement and some HP gain. One thing that was popular there that I did with good results was an K&N and AIR BOX DECK PLATE MOD. I searched a bit on here to see if anyone was doing it. But instead of dropping a few hundred $$$ on an air intake we would just do this. I haven't gotten to look at mine yet to see if it's even possible since I'm going to buy my 02 4x4 this weekend. But thought I'd share if anyone was interested. 1. Go to a boat shop or auto shop that would sell a deck plate drain for a boat. I think I used a 6" round one in my Tacoma. 2. Get a K&N filter to fit stock air box 3. Pull out stock air box 4. trace the inner circle of the deck plate housing on the air box. (on the Tacoma we did it on the side with the most open area by it) 5. Cut out the circle you traced on stock air box. 6. Take frame of deck plate and (should be an inside and outside) Silicone both sides onto the air box and then bolt together. 7. Once dry, deck plate should snap into place locking on the frame completely sealing off the box to water and dust. If driving around town or on Hwy take the plate off and put it somewhere safe. Pretty much opens up the side of the box bringing in more air like the K&N or Air-aid intakes providing a better airflow. When you go off road, just snap the plate in to seal out water and dirt. I don't remember exact numbers but I saw a noticeable increase in gas mileage and even a little bit of throttle response. Plus it made the stock exhaust a little deeper. Not sure how possible it is on the Pathfinder but I'll look at it and try it if it seems like it will work. I think it's $10 for the plate and $40 or so for the filter if you don't already have one. More people on the site (www.ttora.com) swore by it and did their own testing. If I do it, I'l try to do a write up and post on here. Sure beats spending $200-$300. Hopefully this is helpful
  15. That would be it. Bumpers and flares are brown too. I'm not lookin to go crazy with a lift. maybe an inch or two (that's what she said) Or even a leveling kit. Something to beef it up just a bit. I know she recently did shocks, brakes, tires and alignment. So not sure I wan to mess with it all that much. lift spacers maybe? With Toyota, OME lifts were really good and popular... Is this the same with Nissan? I see some Rancho out there too. That was a big no no. Does FOX racing shocks make anything? That's what I had on my Yota
  16. I'm having a hell of a time learning my way around here. Plus not familiar with some of the Nissan terminology. I'm looking to lifts for this thing. Not finding too much yet. I see lot's of you have AC lifts. I've searched and googled and can't seem to figure out what on earth it is. I don't have the car yet so I really haven't gotten to look at the suspension in person to see the set up. I'll be getting it this weekend. I saw a link on suspension info when I first looked around the other day but can't seem to find it now. Think I'm just going in circles. However, I do like the pics and videos of what I'm seeing on here. Makes me think the Tacoma will be going up for sale to dump some funds into this thing.
  17. Yep that's it! Except it's a brownish color. Same ugly wheels too. Sorry if that's your car.
  18. Awesome. I'll def look into all of that. I also may PM a few people who's set ups catch my eye. Still tryin to navigate around on here. Are there any Nissan specific parts company's? I know there were tons of places that sold strictly Toyota suspension, bumpers, sliders, skid plates, etc. I'm not finding too much. This current Pathfinder has super big step sides and a matching roof rack that says PATHFINDER down the sides. I'm not seeing any pics with any of those. Are people taking them off? I figured the steps would have to go but is the rack at least functional?
  19. Yeah. She baby's everything she has. Everything has been done through Nissan dealership. Only thing that hasn't been done is timing belt. Do you know when Nissan recommends this? I know Toyota wanted it done around 120k. Also do you know if Nissan wants the water pump, tensioner and all that jazz done at the same time? She's giving me a hell of a deal. $3500 half of NADA value.
  20. I'm thinking about buying my mom's Pathfinder. Don't know too much about them coming from a few Toyota's. I've wheeled a 4runner and Tacoma. Was looking for something a little more family friendly and my mom decided to buy another car. She has a 2002 Pathfinder 4x4 with 140k miles. Garage kept at home and work. She never used the 4x4 outside of my brother or I cutting through traffic hopping curbs for a deal I can't turn down. Just curious what I'm getting in to and things to look out for. I always said I would never leave Toyota but if I did Nissan would be the only reason. Probably keeping my Tacoma for more of a toy. Using the Nissan more of a daily driver with the capability of off road use. Nothing Major though. Camping, Beach, etc. I'm just starting to learn my way around this site but any info anyone has will be great. Until then I'm looking forward to playing around on here and learning.
