Funny you mention the ABS wire...mine is already broke on that side from swapping out my CV axle...

That would save me $15 but I'd rather spend the money and know I'll get it in Canada sooner than later.

I'm gonna give it a go next weekend...hopefully it takes care of my problem

I'm going through this same issue now and am about to change the front differential mount bushings. I think Nissan calls them the Front Final Drive Mounting Cushions...I had to buy the whole bracket for my drivers side which is roughly $100 because they don't have just the bushings. I just jammed a pry bar up in there and gave it a wiggle and there is clearly more play then on the other side. I hope this fixes my issue because I cannot find anything else loose that would cause a clunk going over bumps... you might want to check this out also.

Hello all, I have myself a nice little clunking sound comming from the front end going over bumps or when i turn the wheels side to side going slow to get it to rock. Now I had this before and it was the stabilizer bar links/bushings which I thought may be the cause again. So I jacked it all up and couldn't find anything loose at all...until I pryed on the differential mount and noticed the bushing is worn right out. Could this be the cause? I am by no means a mechanic and from what I'm told by Nissan I cannot buy the bushings and I will have to purchase a whole new mount which is just over $100, no big deal. If this is the case how big of a job would this be for a noobie? I'm done paying mechanics unless it is absolutley needed, I don't mind learning...plus it is just a hunting rig. Anyone on here ever done this before? and may have some tips and tricks it would be appreciated. Cheers!

Just a guess that a timing belt change is outta my leauge and may be a bit more expensive than I want to spend on an old beater. Cheers

LOL The guys at Car Quest gave me such a good deal on the whole package I couldn't pass it up! $115 taxes in. I'm gonna have look at my air filter this weekend and see what I can do there, I'll also do some research on the MAF Sensor since I have no sweet clue what it is or does haha. Thanks.

Well over the weekend I ended up putting plugs, wires, button and a cap on my pathfinder. I had a hell of a time with a couple plugs but other than that it wasn't too bad. It seems to be running much smoother now. Thanks for the advice on what to have done! Would you guys reccomend any other DIY tune ups for it? (1998 with 183,000kms) Before I purchased it he says he flushed all the fluids. That's all I can think of.

I am picking up a set of Prestolite plug wires and Platinum NGK plugs tonight at CarQuest for $89 and gonna put them in tomorrow. Hopefully this clears up my issue. I'll let yas know how i make out, cause if it doesn't work.......there will be more questions hahaha.

I think that is what I will do, any suggestions on the brand of plug/wires to get? I'll probably get them from Canadian tire as it is near by. I also hear getting to plug # 6 can be a b*h, hopefully it is doable.

I ended up paying a guy $20 for a scan. Here's what we came up with: P0301- Cylinder #1 Misfire P0440- Evap P1448- Evap vent control valve So my next question would be what the next step is in fixing my misfire issue? Thanks

The shops around here are a bit crazy, cheapest place i could find that will do a code scan was $80. Luckily I found a backyard mechanic on Kijiji that will do it for $20. I'll post on here tonight what codes we come up with. Thanks for the input!

I'm not sure of the codes showing up I usually bring it to the shop for anything engine wise, I'm not very mechanically inclined, swapped out a cv axle and that was a chore for me. The pathfinder has 183,000kms

hey guys i'm having a bit of a problem and I do not know what it is, I was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction. I have a 1998 pathfinder chilkoot. When I first get driving it has a kind of chug, now i cannot tell if it something slipping or if it's the motor having a miss. When it does it the check engine light flashes (mine is on solid all the time because of some stupid fuel sensor). After driving for a few minutes it seems to go away. Any thoughts? Cheers!!

Does anyone have an idea where I can find a list of transferable parts from a 2001 pathy to a 98? I own a 98 and have found a good deal on a 01 parts vehicle. Things I would swap right away are: most of the exhaust system, CV axle, rear fenders, rims and the A/C. Thanks in advance for any input you may have.

If you bounce it around by hand it does make the little rattle sound. Maybe that all it is then.

So.. when I go over bumps I hear a little clunking/rattle noise coming from my front end, I brought it into Crappy Tire to have it checked out and they said all they could find is a worn front stabilizer link. But in the notes on my receipt they wrote it was full of mud and grass and will require additional time to locate "other noises". Do you guys think that's really all it is? Sounds to me like something is hanging and when u hit a bump it bumps around, or did they get a bit sour about it being full of dirt and just sent me on my way without digging deeper. What I paid for was a Steering and Suspension Inspection, $53.

I was browsing around on ebay and came across this tuneup kit for a pathfinder. Has anyone else out there purchased a full kit like this? Or have you just purchased it all separately? XPLORx4 you do make it sound doable! I might give it a try, but in the meantime I was thinking about possible trying to install one of those slit boots myself. Would this be close to the same procedure? I couldn't find a video on a pathfinder. If that's all it is I will give it a go myself.

I think I will just replace the whole shaft and if the old one is in decent shape I will just replace the boot myself and hold onto it! Seems to be the logical thing to do. I also noticed when i was stuck and I pumped the gas I had a loud clunk in the front end, no idea what the heck that could be.... I will have to get that checked out also..Old Patty has been nothing but issues since I bought it haha
