  1. Well that backs her story~ She thought he always put around 4qt's in so cool, ty. I am starting to think maybe the quick lube place over filled it at one point or something. Anyway, engine runs great so I am not going to worry. Thanks~ ~Jason
  2. Anyone heard of any issues with filling the truck with the amount of oil specified in the manual? I.E. the engine will run sluggish? Previous owner seems to recall my uncle always did one quart less than stated in the book or the engine would run poorly. Any info on said possible issue with the oil level? 93, 3.0V6 auto trans Thanks~
  3. Key-chain hitting the steering column lol. It's not that loud in the truck but I thought the same thing after watching the vid myself. Took about an hour to get all the mud out from the underside this afternoon. And yes the light wheeling was fun and allowed me to get to know the truck. I cant wait to take it to the Texas coast here in the next month or so.
  4. I found a nice place to get a little dirty and just fool around about 1 mile from my place. I took the camera today and shot 2 short videos; one in truck and one outside. I have a short track set up that is fun for light wheeling. Prob boring to guy's with SAS and what not but I figured I would post them anyway. 720p HD Inside Outside
  5. I use to but I am not good at converting gallons to liters on the fly at the gas pump anymore.
  6. Sill Brit's and the Metric System (I kid I kid).
  7. This was where I based my assumption on~
  8. Well for now I can deal with it. I will get my repair manual out and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the info guys.
  9. I noticed the other day when I went out to run some errands I was on a little more than a quarter tank. Then the needle would sink way down to E and slowly go up a little. I was afraid I was almost out of gas and so I put some in. Today about the same thing happened. I stop to fill up and I could only get 10 gallons in. Well I think it has a 21 gallon tank so is this a common problem and is there an easy fix or is the sending unit going out? It's a bit frustrating not being able to trust the fuel gauge Thanks~
  10. Schizo when I first heard TXU advertise the "green energy plan" or whatever they call it on the radio I thought wow. Pay more and feel better about yourself. What a joke
  11. ^ I like it. I consider any joke electric vehicle to be a coal powered car. We laughed a local proud Volt owner away from a local Sat night show and shine as well. He pulled up, backed in and proceeded to pop the hood. We giggle, he takes off. : )
  12. My 2011 Chevy 2500's 6 speed and torque converter are pretty high tech as well. And no, not the Allison, it's a 6L90E (If I remember correctly). 1st is a granny, then a somewhat normal 4 speed in the middle of a 5th and 6th overdrive gears. Ya, cool enough but I noticed when I am pulling a trailer or a large load the trans will actually slip the torque converter to increase RPM but not downshift. The first time it did it I was like wow, that's slick. And yes I know torque converters are designed per the car they are in~ for example a slow 3 speed automatic Neon trans only locks the torque converter in 3rd gear. anyway~
  13. Thanks a bunch for all the info guys. I am just glad something did not break my first time off the road I was really impressed at how the truck would just roll right through sloppy mud. And it only took 30 min to clean it all (90% of it) off.
  14. Sorry if I was not clear last night, I had a few drinks once I got home. I was stating that I was able to verify that 4L and 4H both work just fine. But after I had been playing for a little bit that is when she did not want to go back up the hill and the motor would not go above 2K rpm. Sooo I went out this morning and drove around the block. Everything is acting normal. So who knows maybe something got wet. To be honest I was scared that I had already broke something and went to bed fairly aggravated and anticipating a future "told you so" from my Dad lol. One other thing I noticed is every so often the truck dances around about 200rpm (very little)trying to find an idle. However most times it is just fine. It never surges or anything like that so I have ruled out a vac leak b/c it comes and goes. I am going to try cleaning the idle air control motor and see what happens. Also, this "power" light... It did flash every now and then but only if I was punching the throttle. What's it's function? And by the way~ it was SOOOO much fun wheeling in that little truck. It's a blast to drive and I can't wait for more!
  15. I took her out this evening for some light wheeling~ I took the truck out to a big ass drainage basin that is about a mile from my house. I spent about an hour or so driving straight up the ditch-grade and then I would go back down. Well after about an hour or so I got out to eat a snack and killed the motor. When I got back in for the 1 mi drive home something was not the same. I was able to verify it was in 4x4 hi and low and at this point it was in $ hi but 2 things~ the engine did not want to rev above 2K RPM and it did not seem like the front and rear axles wanted to spin and by that I mean standing on the throttle and it would never go above 2K rpm and it was all of a sudden a slug. Any ideas or am I missing something?
  16. Read the whole sentence. I was referencing the original post with the vehicle specs but that question was answered in the post after that. Sorry if it came out to "wordy".
  17. Thanks guys. Ya I read that and thought ok cool, now I need to know what diff I have up front. : ) Thanks for all the input gents. Going back to the garage : )
  18. OK guys what about fluids now? Specifically the front and rear diffs, transfer case and ATX fluid. I want to check all of them before I put her in 4x4 so I am working on that today. So if any are low what grade do I use? The rear has an LSD and I know from the Neon's that had LSD's they require an additive that the non LSD transmissions did not require (for the clutches). So basically I don't want to mess anything up. : ) Also...... When I went to get the truck this morning and move it over to my house my aunt mentioned that the dash mat that is on top of the dash had been placed there when the truck was new, not to cover damage like a lot of them are used for but to protect it from the get-go. I was like wow! It keeps getting better. I lifted the mat up and the dash looks as good as new. Totally impressed!! Then as I am about to leave I mentioned to her how I was going to order a Chiltons/ Haynes or a FSM in hard copy for the truck. She says hey, wait a second.. Goes into the garage and produces a Haynes repair manual! Woot! OK I am going to start checking fluid levels.
  19. Very cool. I have never shopped for any type of external cooler and had no idea how they were rated. ty!
  20. Thanks for the info. I have not done the trans cooler bypass yet but it's on my list.
  21. Guys I am curious about what I should expect in regards to the transmissions life expectancy. 93 V6 with an auto 110K miles. It's never ever been beat on and serviced properly. I will be taking it to the beach to do some light wheeling on the sand and north for light dirt trail wheeling as well. I say light b/c I don't want to beat on the truck, just use it for what it was designed to do. What should I expect out of the transmission mileage wise? Also, are they known to just go out or anything I.E. leaving me 90 miles from home? Thanks for any input!
  22. Agree, it just depends on the vehicle and what look you are going for.
  23. Ya I came across your projector conversion but I think I am going to stick with the stock lens for now. If it were my car I would be all about some custom work for part that is not available but I would rather the truck to look semi stock for now. I am no stranger to custom touches, here is my 97 2 door Neon that sits in the garage. She is my other expensive toy.
  24. It is a tiny hole and I know I could patch it with some silicone but in the long run I need a new lens. Thanks for the input on the subject~
