  1. Ok I put my 3 inch bl on and now my alternator will not charge my my battery and interior electric will not work. However, I found out when I rev my engine up to 6-7k everything turns on and stays working until I shut the engine off. Keep in mind I didn't have this problem until after my body lift and I cant seem to find the cause. I have no idea where to start to debug the problem I'm sort of an idiot when it comes to electric.

Any help would be greatly appreciated I don't want to have to surrender my rig to a mechanic and deal with the embarrassment just yet.

  2. http://www.nicoclub....994_Pathfinder/

its for a 94 but should be at least somewhat helpful depending on the system your planning on messing with as a little help (the "el.pdf" selection is the electrical section). Otherwise my 88 FSM is proably about useless to you for me to look anything up

Wow talk about lucky. I finished my lift and i'm having some electrical problems! Hehe fun fun fun... So far only found a broken wire behind horn on firewall... Hopefully thats it!!!

  3. My spare tires have after market chrome steel wheels that I painted black. You just need to rough up the chrome finish and the paint will stick. Adhesion promoter like Danger said is also highly recommended. I wouldn't bother on the stock chrome wheels though. I think it will just make your ride look ghetto/redneck. Might as well save the money you're going to spend on making your stock wheels look even worse and save up to get some cheap black steel wheels from Jegs or some place else. Then you can at least try and sell your stock ones on craigslist.

Hmm I'm liking this idea... Do I need to look for anything special, for example wheels that might need room for auto hubs I have on?
  4. Recently replaced front emergency brake from 95 pathy out of junk yard hooked it all up.. but the cable that goes out to the car where you can adjust it doesn't really line up... I had to put a spacer in between and take a nut out so that I could crank the nut that holds the two cables all the way up! Now my question is...

Are the emergency brake lines lines stretched in the back somehow?

Also I havn't had my emergency brake ever since I redid the brakes in the back maybe I hooked something up wrong when I did them?

    I need some guidance here.

Btw the emergency brake works, but on a steep hill I really have to tug the handle hard and pull it the whole way up so that the car will stay still.

  5. Cool :) I'll see what I can do.... also do you happen to know where I can get a parking brake cable? I need the part that attaches to the handbrake and goes out underneath the car... Mine got worn I'm guessing and tore where it comes into the car. Having a real hard time finding it.

  6. Thinking about 3" body lift, not sure if I should because it looks like my pathfinder got hit at one point and the body mounts are bent 10-20 degrees on the passenger side. I'm worried about the possibility of having a hard time getting the bolts out or maybe having to drill them out? I don't want this to turn into a crazy long project. I have pics but I'm not sure how to upload them...

  7. Truck is road worthy again and I want to get rid of the nasty hole in rear driver fender.... I used a tin can before and bondo and sorta shaped up over the rust. Long story short I cut it out because i thought it was a stupid idea but now I'm short of a welder. Any ideas for a clean looking patch that would last me a couple of years? I want to make it look nice

    Pics to come soon

  8. Meh i'm just taking it to the mechanic I don't want to mess with it and its a guy I can trust. Plus he'll be able to find underline problems that I would probably carelessly dismiss.

I've got some plans for this truck though, I already helped a buddy of mine weld some major rust problems on it. Under the rear passenger seats I had absolutely no sheet metal there I ended up cutting out a hole that you could stand through on it hahahaha. And I paid a guy to do some reinforcement on the frame so the only rust problem I can visibly see is on the rocker panels and I found some repair kits for those suckers on here :)

My goals to maybe give it a lift, touch up some paint and slap some huge tires on this bitch and I'm good to go, assuming that I don't have anymore engine problems haha.

  9. Autoparts store or find the fsm on here or after the dealership...just curious how u know u blew the head gasket? Its not a difficult job to do but the intake is the biggest pita...while u r in there u may as well get a master engine gasket set and replace as many seals/gaskets as possible...replace timing belt, water pump, bypass hose, valve seals, tstat...etc u will spend close to $300 on parts and depending on what tools u have, u may need to spend 100-200 on tools...mainly a torque wrench...everyone will say to get new head bolts...I've never done it and rebuilt 2 top ends on these trucks and never had an issue...still not convinced they rone time use

Hmmm I'll give it a try .... better then selling my rig for scrap... Oh and the thing overheated and started pouring white smoke. It burns through a half a radiator tank in 30 mins O: And I took of the oil cap and its got some nasty peanut butter stuff in there.

Tool-wise I think I might be set except for a torque wrench. Ive got the usual dad garage stuff like socket sets wrenches screwdrivers... no power tools though, will that be a problem?

Just out of curiosity, with my skill level how long do you think this will take? And do these books cover timing belt waterpump ect. ?

  10. Anyone know where I can find the manual to do it? Mechanics are quoting me 1500 :(

And I don't feel like I can handle taking the engine apart myself and reality is I'm not going to put 1500 into a car with a fskced frame no matter how much I love it.

  11. Hmm I didn't really word that right haha... sorry I was up all night and wasn't really in the right mind set. Well.... you've convinced me not to do the swap haha.. I don't have the money.... ... I'm gonna be straight up with you guys.. I'm kind of an idiot and I kind of need a guide to do the head gasket because even the mechanics where I live don't want to deal with it! I feel like I can do it, I just need to prepare myself , like getting all the tools together I need and parts. Could you guy sort of direct me in the way I want to go?

    I appreciate it guys :)

  12. Hey guys recently the head gasket blew on my pathfinder and I'm ready to do some work on it. I want to swap a Chevy 4.3 v6 into it.

So far I know that I have to give it a 3' lift..... and thats about all I know haha..

I have a couple of questions though before I get myself stuck into a mess here.

How much work is this going to require? Do I really need to find a new radiator, transmission, and exhaust for the engine? How much rewiring will I need to do? Does it need a new computer? Will the engine even fit?!

Where can I find an engine and all this stuff ^^^ and how much is will it all cost in general because I only have 1500$ to blow on this project.

It would be wonderful if somebody has a guide to follow because I'm driving myself insane trying to figure all this stuff out! :headwall:

I'm just trying to get the most bang for my buck... thats all.

Any help or comments are very much appreciated! I need all the help I can get

  13. I don't think I starved the engine. It seems to be running fine the last time I drove it. My problem is I don't have the mechanical skill or patience to completely take apart an engine, or maybe I do idk haha. So my plan is to take it to a mechanic I know I can trust, but I don't want to pay him 1000$ to take apart the engine and tell me that I need a a new one. And correct me if I'm wrong, maybe dropping a used engine into it seems easier then tearing everything apart to replace the head gasket. Idk I'm not to familiar with what I'm doing. ( I wish I was though lol)

  14. Just about 2 weeks ago my pathfinder started to have a slight tapping noise on idle. Nobody seemed to think anything of it at the time. But about a week later white smoke started to pour out of the exhaust! I checked the radiator and of course it was out of antifreeze so I poured more in with head gasket treatment that would supposedly patch the gasket. At first it worked but the next day it started smoking again. Today out of curiosity I opened the oil cap to find a peanutbutter colored residue in the oil cap :ohno01: So my question is, is it worth it to put money to try to fix the engine I have now or should I try to find a new one to swap it with?

Just for reference it takes about an hour for it to burn through half the antifreeze in the radiator.

All opinions are very much appreciated!
