  1. Kicked it..........f**kin' auto hub started grinding away doing 60 km/h after needing 4wd to pull my boat out up the ramp, tide was out and was below the seaweed belt. If it's not one thing its another with this money pit...........same story with my wife, BUT I still love both of 'em.

  2. I think the newer ECUs will throw a CEL if they don't like what goes on with the temperature sensor. Must have been something Nissan did to deter people from unplugging the EGR valve.

I replaced the temp sensor but good point!!

  3. Any chance it's a California truck?

No it originally comes from a dealership in Duncan, a small town 30 min south of where I live and trust me.............it is no California hahahha

  4.

That's strange I never had a code when I removed mine..I removed the entire system. Hm I guess some ecu are different in that way.

yeah, I'm thinking maybe it's a '95 thing only. The ECU for my truck seems to be a bastardized to '95 only (found this out when i wanted to replace it)

  5. I had a broken hose going to the bpt valve and the CEL did come on and I had an "egr function" code. Just letting you know. IMO pulling the bulb is dumb b/c what if something else breaks and you wont' know.

"Dumb"? Thnak you for the input Mr. Zan, pulling the light may be dumb to some, but, if something is wrong i wouldnt know as I cant use the light as reference since it was on constantly anyways. As arrogant as this may sound, a lot of people in here as well as I dont need the truck to tell them something is wrong via dummy light to assume something is up. I will check for codes if something doesnt feel right. To each his own though right?

  6. So with a CEL will not the Nissan ECU go into otherwise known as "limp mode?"

It didnt surprisingly enough! It was just giving the code that there was an EGR malfunction, I'm assuming with this, its not enough to throw it into 'limp mode'. It was getting the reading off of the the egr solonoid valve which has been yanked as well. The EGR is more or less for exhaust emissions and we don't have them on Vancouver Island. I'd still have it on of I hadn't cracked the egr casing itself trying to undo the exhaust tube. (damn manifold stud replacement). The only other thing I noticed since doing this is that the exhaust smells a bit 'richer'. Overall, I wouldnt recommend taking it out if there's no need to but if it is and you live somewhere there's no emissions laws, it doesnt hurt anything. Maybe just a bit of a drop in power but hey, on the pavement, these things are about as 'performance' like as a deep freeze on tires.

  7. Took mine out, not much of a differnece. I took everything out, capped all the ported vacuum lines and exhaust tube to the manifold. The check engine light comes on with an EGR code and wont go out. I just pulled the bulb out while i had it out to fix the tach.

  8. I ended up replacing all 6 of my injectors. I went with rebuilds from Lordco ($35ea.)new ones were close to $100. to get them bench tested & cleaned it cost double what it cost to replace them completely. I've had them in for about 4 months now and have not had a problem at all. besides, depending on where or whom you go through to get them, make sure they have a decent warranty so (even though it's a complete PITA to get to them) you can always get a new 'rebuild'. and while you're in there replace the o-rings and use a @!*% ton of white lithium for pressing them back in. Maybe consider replacing all of them while you're in there as Murphy's Law states that if you replace one aanother will go shortly after and so on.....

Good Luck, and feel free to ask if you have any questions.

  9. so.....I bought another round dash guage cluster for my puddpuller as the tach was a crazy bastard. The replacement cluster worked great for a month then started to do the same thing. I ripped it apart, pulled the head unit out and disected it. I sprayed the piss out of the windings and circuit board with electronics cleaner and scrubbed it all with a tooth brush, put it back together and now it works like it should! It's been two weeks now and hasn't acted up since so I'll cross my fingers this fixed it. If only I'd thought of this with the original.

Just thought I'd throw this out there as it's easy enough to try (not to mention way cheaper) instead of pulling your hair out trying to find a replacement.

  10. I have done it. It is not to hard. You will want to make a jig to hold front axle.Trust me on this. I was in a hurry and did not take enough time to set up caster angles properly and it is alot of work to fix it.

You have to cut the front part of the axle housing off.(where the 3 rd member would fit in). I used a 8" x1/4 pipe cap. Yes a 8" pipe cap. Then you will need to cut axle tube toward knuckle with large pipe cutter. Do not cut all the way through pipe.I then used a large bar to turn knuckle's 180 degree's. This is where your caster angle will get screwed up if you do not take your time. If your caster angle is not right . THE TRUCK WILL NOT! Drive down the road very well. Once your pipe cap is installed you will need to drill out one top and one bottom hole in the 3rd member larger. After that the 3rd member will slide right in. I went with trail gear high steer arms and there tie rod, drag link set up. They use a fj 80 tie rod end. I found that you can use the FJ 80 tie rod end in the nissan steering arm , but it has to be put in upside down(from top). It has worked well for me I have not had any problems. FYI Sky manufacture makes the shortest steering arms . You do not need to use Cal Mini SAS kit.You can use one for toyota.I can tell you more about that if your interested. I will dig out pic's if you would like to see it. I can probably post Sunday or Monday. I am not sure if you can see it very well on you tube. Hope that help's

Awesome!! I just had the wrecker bring this thing to my house (and put it beside my other pathy) the wife's not impressed hahahhaha. Thanks though Helo, I'll definitely be bugging you in the near future.

  11. circumference my friend. Not diameter.

I don't feel like calculating it, but the GPS on my phone says it's about 14% off.

I couldnt figure out why my speedo was off either, I thought it maybe had something to do with the cluster as my tach is a crazy bastard. I've only got 235/75's on mine which is equal to 28" roughly. looked in the door jam? calls for 31" ers. put them on and voila! now if they'd only fix my tach too....

  12. Of course after putting in my ifs suspension lift a friend of mine wants to sell me his frame fu**ed 82' Yota. I'd like to build it into a trailer queen but if I could I wouldnt mind throwing the front axle into my pathy. To do this I was going to do a tube swap so the pumpkin is on the proper side. Anyone heard of or seen this done?

  13. Ohhh..... Id shy away from rebuilt ones if it was me, I have seen too many people back in a year with one failing and having to replace one all over again, even if it does have a warranty. Then 3 months later another one fails and so on and so on. Gets to be a pain pulling the intake off all the time to replace one if its on the left side of the motor.....and the warranty doesnt cover labor, just the part.

They are cheap for a reason IMHO.

One the other hand new are outrageous, so I understand it is a rock and a hardplace!

BTW, if you havent thought of it, get a few cans of throttle body cleaner and clean the intake plenum and the tubes that run underneath it....

I just went with the rebuilt ones as the guy didnt explain that 35 bucks was for the cleaning only!!! 10 more for the test and a three day wait. Really appreciate your input though mate.

  14. Just finished puttin all rebuilts in, lubed them up with oil for pressing them in, flashed it up...........ran like a bag o's**t, wouldnt even idle. Pissed off and full of hate i ripped everything back off again, noticed the plenum gasket was wet and reeked of fuel on two cylinders. Pulled the injectors and noticed i had ripped two of the o-rings, replaced the orings and used white lithium grease, they went in easier than pulling them out, now it runs perfect!! I highly recommend using that stuff for re-installing these finicky little PITAs. Now FINALLY I can get on putting my SL in. Bring on the snow!!!!!

  15. I've done neither on my Path, but does that $38 include a warranty? Depending on which warranty from which place lasts longer, I'd go that route. Plus, if you go rebuilt, you dont have any down time waiting to get them back if its your daily driver.

I didn't look into the warranty on either of 'em yet but just like you said it's the turn around time I'm worried about. The cleaning outfit said 2 days but I've just been called out for a two week barge tow and we're supposed to be expecting snow sometime next week. I'm also worried about paying to get all 6 cleaned to find out 1 or more is/are pooched and have to buy new ones anyways. I was thinking about going with the new(rebuilt) ones as they're in stock so if it does snow, my wife can still get around, also this way i can put them in tonight/tomorrow and still have a couple days to conquer any 'snags' i hit putting it back together before i leave. Warranties and wait time time aside, would it worth waiting on the originals getting cleaned or would rebuilt ones be a safe bet?

  16. I've taken the upper plenum off of my VG30E as I noticed rodent chew marks exposing the wire on my #6 injector wires (of course it's THAT one). Not to mention its running rich even before my EGR delete. I've pulled all of the injectors out and have hit a bit of a 'between a rock and a hard place' kinda situation. I live in a fair sized town and have found only one place that will do the sonic clean and balance test but it costs $35.00 a peice, but when i called my buddy at the parts store whom gives me a james bond discount quoted me $38.00 a peice for rebuilt ones............should I get them cleaned or just go with the rebuilt ones? Anyone had any nightmares with choosing rebuilt injectors?

    Thanx fellas.
