  1. I'm still having problems with one injector after having them cleaned...I guess I need a new one. I installed the good one on the drivers right side, with the bad one unplugged, and it seems to run fine as long as I don't go over 2800 rpm...Is it ok to drive it in limp mode, until I can afford to get a new one? Or should I just park it to prevent any other damage?... What can it hurt?... This is my only ride! Scott.
  2. I had a local shop clean the injectors...I reinstalled the TB, and I'm back on the road! A $40 fix cost me close to $500... But I now have a new MAF, TPS, and Throttle Chamber Assembly. I guess I'll keep the old ones for spares.
  3. Thanks for the info. I did a local search and found a place about 10 mi.from my home. I going to call tomorrow to see what they charge. Hopefully this could be a time, and money saver! Thanks again!
  4. Oh...Didn't catch that...just sounds really familiar though.
  5. Mine is also an 87, and I was also going by the code #'s on this forum, until James pointed out that there are some different code #'s on the 87, than on some others years. I saw on your original post that you thought it had a 12 and 43 code...On the 87, 43 means 51 (injectors),in the 89 FSM. I was able to determine that I have a bad injector, using the thread I posted earlier, after also replacing the MAF...I'm really thinking your problem is the same as mine. I am really hopeful that I have my problem figured out...damn things aren't cheap though...Oh Well,,, Whats another couple of hundred bucks??? Scott.
  6. After this test... http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/heavychevy396/2010-11-16_221619_1986_nissan_d21_rough_idle.pdf ...I am now pretty sure that I have a bad, or clogged injector. I have a friend coming over Mon. with his injector cleaner thing, not sure what it's called. We're going to try to clean it from the fuel line, before I buy a replacement....Can the rebuilt ones be trusted??? The new ones ain't cheap!
  7. I have been having VERY similar issues for the past few months, and it's been driving me nuts also! After 2 new MAF's, (1 after market, 1 OEM) and about $500 in various trial and error parts, I now am getting code 43 (injectors)...I found this check that I am going to try after work tomorrow. It might be worth trying??? Here is the link if you want to give it a shot. http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/heavychevy396/2010-11-16_221619_1986_nissan_d21_rough_idle.pdf Hope it helps, Scott.
  8. When I can get it to idle, you can see the fuel in the TB pool up, and then get sucked into the engine...I was wondering about the extra prong on the TPS with no wire connection. It is a 5 speed. The TPS connector was corroded pretty bad. I cleaned it with some contact spray, pipe cleaner, and a tooth brush. Do I need to disconnect the battery every time I check the ECU? Doesn't it clear when you shut the key off after checking it? I thought I read that in the 89 FSM.
  9. Well that explains it...my friend kept saying it sounded like the injectors were acting up. I'll check this out. Thanks James!
  10. Yes, we did check from the ECU as the FSM instructed...My friend romoved the top of the ECU and visualy inspected it for burnt or broken connections, but didn't see any. Is there a test for the ECM?
  11. Has anyone ever received a false TPS code for a bad O2 sensor? All voltage test check out ok on the TPS. This is the only code the ECM is reading. I am trying to check the O2 sensor from the FSM check list, and it says to check voltage when A.I.V. system operates...is this the Air Induction Valve? If so, can anyone tell me where it's located on my 87 Pathy? And how to do this??? The FSM doesn't specify how. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! Scott
  12. Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail...

  13. I tried everything you suggested, and it all checked out ok...Just got a faulty one I guess. I'm calling the distributor tomorrow, and going to send this one back! I read on here somewhere that the after market ones were known not to work, and couldn't be trusted. Thanks again for the diagrams!
  14. Thanks James! I'll give this a try and keep you posted. Really good info!
  15. What's up guys...Just want to say what a helpful sight this seems to be so far. It seems to have some very knowledgeable people here. That said... HELP! My problem is my mass air sensor #12 on the ecm. I took it off and cleaned it per some instructions I found on here. That didn't fix the problem, so I purchased one online, since I couldn't find one anywhere local. When it finally arrived yesterday, I installed it right away thinking my problem would be solved. Although it seemed to run a little better the problem still exist. Thinking I may have fouled out some plugs, I replaced them all. Still no results. What are my chances I received a bad (new in the box) maf sensor? BTW. This is a 87 Pathy with the sensor directly on the throttle body. I did reset the ecm, but it still has the 12 code. Any suggestions on this, will be greatly appreciated! Thanks. P.S. It is an after market sensor. I only purchased this one when my mechanic friend said he had installed a bunch of these with no problems. Oh yeah...It was about $100 cheaper. These things are High Dollar for a 25 yr. old vehicle, but whatever the price...I love my Pathfinder!
  16. Help! ECM reading code 12 (MAF sensor) I cleaned with no results so I orderd one of ebay and replaced it with some, but little results...new plugs didn't help either...still code 12.Is there anything else I can try? I'm stumped!!!!
