Nice rig man! I can't believe you scored that roof rack for $50!! Is that a universal fit or pathfinder specific rack? Also, I love the front bumper! Did you fab that up yourself? I have the exact same year, model, & color of Pathy I'm actually looking to put on taller tires (31x10.5) and a lift before spring (there is a local snow trail run happening in February that I want to be ready for!).

What kind of coil springs are you running? -
Pathfinder 0-100 Video

Really? My VQ has been reliable...show me the proof that the VG is more reliable. -
Video of the '01 Pathfinder running 0-100km/h. 100km/h = 62mph. I'm not sure exactly how fast it was as I'm too lazy to check the timeline vs the speed This was just for S&Gs

That looks pro man! Nice! Would you be willing to post the build specs ie dimensions/cuts/angles of individual bumper sheets so that some of us could try fabricating this up ourselves? It would save some major leg work if possible. Cheers!

Locking Hub Install With Pictures

Great, thank you! -
Thanks! Your truck looks good in those pictures...not too much rake imo. Done, this is the setup I'm going to run in the spring when boat season starts up again!
-
Hmm, interesting... I have the rear end sag going on especially when I tow my boat. This looks like a good option. Are these the Medium Duty springs? Thanks for sharing. It's always nice to see how different products out there work (or don't).

Nice work man! So what spring combo did you go with? Did you take before and after measurements? It looks like the front didn't lift very much? The back definitely has a nice stance tho. Edit- Did you just do the rear?

2001 - K&N CAI and Magnaflow Exhaust Vids
winnipegjohnston replied to winnipegjohnston's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
No, sorry. I just haven't had any time. I just asked for a throaty sounding muffler at the shop and this is what buddy put on : ) I'm very happy with it! It actually seems to sound better and better as it gets "broken in". Good luck and post up sound clip with what you put on! -
Locking Hub Install With Pictures
winnipegjohnston replied to Oregonian's topic in R50 FAQ's & Pinned Topics
What a great thread! Thanks to all the contributors! I have a 2001 SE Pathfinder with the 2wd-auto-4hi-4lo switch. After reading through this thread, I'm still not 100% sure if the Warn hub are safe to be installed on my truck? This is my understanding after reading this thread...Warn hubs ARE safe for my truck as long as I dont turn the switch to auto while my hubs are unlocked up front. Is this correct? Thanks -
Good work man! Nice garage BTW, I wish I had a hoist! Post up the snorkel project

Performance...what next?
winnipegjohnston replied to winnipegjohnston's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Okay, I'm automatic too. I checked the Unorthodox website and they don't list a pulley set for our vehicles. I see an underdrive set for the VQ35DE of the Murano, but I don't know if that would fit our Pathfinders...the dyno results they post are nice tho! Where did you see these? -
Performance...what next?
winnipegjohnston replied to winnipegjohnston's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Interesting. Do you both have 5spds or autos? I wonder what a stock pathy dynos at? Anyone know? Just an assumption here, but I would guess that if you had manual hubs up front and they were unlocked you would probably put more hp to the rear wheels as you wouldn't have as much drive train loss? -
Performance...what next?
winnipegjohnston replied to winnipegjohnston's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
I'd like to see some dyno figures also. If dyno time wasn't so damn expensive I'd get my pathy dyno'd to see what kind of whp i'm putting down with the K&N intake and Magnaflow exhaust. I know this isn't a performance vehicle by any means but I always like to add more power to everything I buy! Kinda like Tim the 'tool man' Taylor lol! On a somewhat related note, I had it out with my buddies 2009 Toyota Tundra Crew tonight from about 70km/h to about 130km/h. He finish about 1 truck length ahead. He has K&N intake and exhaust also. I think it would be a better race from a stop, but we couldn't catch a light (on the closed circuit race course : ) -

Performance...what next?

I'm interested in buying a plenum spacer but only after someone can verify results on the Pathfinder VQ. Does anyone on this forum have a plenum spacer? If so, please provide feedback!! -
Performance...what next?
winnipegjohnston replied to winnipegjohnston's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
The plenum spacer looks fairly simple to install. Anybody know of before and after dyno results for the plenum spacer? Same question regarding cams...any "proof" of gains out there that you guys know of? I don't want to dump a huge amount of money into this vehicle for performance...that's what my Subaru STi is for. I, like most of you just want MO' POWA!! Would cams from a 350z VQ "work" ? I dunno, just throwing it out there... I can't find ANYTHING on the net. Thanks for all the responses : ) -
So I put on a K&N intake and Magnaflow exhaust and noticed a nice increase in performance. It seems like there are NO aftermarket mods for my VQ35?! Wtf?! It is such a smooth running and sophisticated motor that I thought there would be more aftermarket support for this engine. I cant find ANYTHING! What mods do you guys know of? Would cams from another VQ series motor do anything for me? I can't believe there is basically zero aftermarket support for this motor! Site note: I have a 2001 3.5l auto pathy se. Any help or direction is greatly appreciated!

winnipegjohnston replied to winnipegjohnston's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Ask and you shall receive! (sometimes) Okay, this picture shows the stock exhaust pipes welded to expansion pipes which are then welded to the dual entrance muffler with yet bigger pipe diameter. This picture shows the corner of the muffler (the blur), then shows the single exit piping going up over the axle turning out on the passenger side. Here is a shot from the back I hope this helps answer your curiousity -

Yeah, I know that lol! I just put CAI for whatever reason when I was posting. Thanks for clearing that up for other members tho I couldn't get pictures last night because it was raining. I'll try to get pics and possibly video tonight...video might work better. Heck, maybe I'll do an interior sound video if I'm in a really good mood -

I`ll try and grab some pictures of the exhaust setup tonight or tomorrow. Sorry, I`ve been busy!! To the gentleman that asked about the K&N install, it was a piece of cake! An hour max. I would consider myself a `backyard` mechanic...not super mechanically inclined, but I seem to get by haha! Stay tuned!! -

So I installed a K&N CAI and Magnaflow Exhaust on my 2001 R50. The intake sounds MEAN and the exhaust sounds nice and tuned. The two modifications really woke up my pathfinder and improved gas mileage by 2-3ltrs per 100kms. I highly recommend these modifications. Cheers.
