Suspension Lift Kit vs JGC Springs
TheDirtyFresh replied to TheDirtyFresh's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Also, I just got an email reply after telling them I didn't need the shackles, and I get this reply: "Cant sell just the arms b/c of the way the kit box is packed. This is the only way to get the arms is to buy the kit box." -
Suspension Lift Kit vs JGC Springs

Sorry, that looks snarky online but it isn't directed at you, I just hate hate hate all of the stupid brokerage fees / duties we get dinged with up here. I.e. shipping for my 4x4parts.com order was $130ish and then I still had to pay $55ish when it was delivered to my door If the seller is willing to ship I'm going to check and see how much it'll cost, thanks for pointing me at that thread! -

So I checked with roughcountry, and ucas + shackles = $249.95 and I guess if I don't like the ride I can always swap out shocks down the road. -

Awesome, this is very good info. How did your ride change when you installed the springs? Do you have aftermarket ucas? -
Suspension Lift Kit vs JGC Springs

More fuel for the fire, but I threw what I "think" I'd need after buying the jeep springs and I have this: Pathfinder Upper Control Arms $205.00USD Pathfinder Torsion Bars $210.00USD Rancho RS5000 Front Shock $85.00USD Rancho RS5000 Rear Shock $85.00USD Sub-Total: $585.00USD I wonder how that would stack up to their $700 kit? -
So I've found a couple of jeep grand cherokees at local yards, the v8 variety, now I could get the springs on the cheap, but is it worth it in the long run? By the time I grab the springs, I'd also need new shocks, ucas, and likely torsion bars too right? This https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/pathfinder-suspension-package-p-64.html kit is $715 us, and I assume I'll pay another $150ish in shipping. Has anyone put together a kit as complete as this using jeep springs and then just ordering ucas etc? Sorry if this has been covered in another thread!

I got lucky in the fact my previous owner undercoated religiously which saved the frame for the most part, there were about 3 places the size of my thumb that were seedy so I cleaned them up and boxed the frame in with 3/8's plate.

Well, I ordered a new centerlink from Uap Napa, which I'll run while I send my worn core to Grassroots for a proper setup. As far as why I bought this kit, I know I'm going to be fitting a suspension lift at some point along with bigger tires so I figured I'd try to knock out as many of the "weaknesses" before I got too far and had to constantly replace worn / broken parts. I think I ended up paying $243.40USD for the body lift and the steering stabilizer with the idler arm brace. Mind you that's before shipping!
-
So it looks like my centerlink is toast, how busy are the boys at grassroots4x4 these days? Might as well do this once the right time!
-
My mailbox says I have a package waiting to pick up after work, so hopefully that's my BL and steering upgrade. I could be in for a busy weekend!
-
I think so, they were $200ish to my door and no brokerage / duties with them.

K&N or similiar air filter onto MAF question
TheDirtyFresh replied to ahardb0dy's topic in General Forums
Does anyone have a site / store to order a k&n apollo from in Canada? I checked with my friend at Canadian tire and I think it was $160ish. I'm trying to avoid ordering from the US for fear of insane brokerage. -
Perfect! That's what I was hoping to hear before I did the work and found it too loud.
-
All kidding aside, I'm hoping this isn't going to be too loud / obnoxious, I'm going to be running this setup along with a magnaflow muffler and I'm thinking 2 1/4" pipe. Anyone have anything similar? I guess if it's too much I'll just have to throw a thrush or a cherry bomb glasspack in line somewhere to quiet it down.

I think I messed up my headers, I don't think they're supposed to go around the cat like that...

I don't think I've ever heard of an alternator draining a battery when it's not on. I wonder if some of the insulation inside of it corroded or worn down, glad to hear you're getting sorted out!
-
That's a tough call, but I'm a bit biased Audi = <3 This picture is from a few months back, shows the fleet haha, 77' 1.6l Rabbit 90' 2.8l vr6 Jetta 04' 1.8t GTi My kitty squeek helping me clean the jetta, gutted car = much better power to weight!

Now this is where the noob in me comes out, are you talking about the rear diff?
-
Thanks! that's the info I was wondering about, I've read bits and pieces of people mentioning changing steering box, but I wasn't sure if that's something absolutely needed or theirs has just worn out. So those two mods and I'll be ok for a suspension lift without completely screwing my alignment?
-
So I ordered this: Steering Enhancement Package SKU: SPAC1STABPKGRANCHOPF https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/steering-enhancement-package-p-2578.html and Pathfinder 3 Inch Body Lift SKU: SPBL405395 https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/pathfinder-inch-body-lift-p-277.html After reading the forums here I have an idea of what to expect as far as install goes, what I'm wondering is, if I were to pick up one of the serious built centerlinks from the member who builds them, would I have a steering setup that can support some offroading?

Sounds like alternator to me!
