Trailing Arm and Panhard Bushing Cost
giddyuppony replied to vmodi's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Well i just ordered the parts from AC for $186.66, that doesnt include the panhard bushings( they are $60 more, and they all polyurethane. From what I have read the poly bushings are better, and I never heard anything about them cracking, but someone else who has them might wanna put some feed back in. Also the poly bushings are cut in half, so from an install stand point its going to be a lot easier. I would say $800 is a little high, but it depends on the hourly rate. -
Yah ill have a look. I read the other thread, sorry about the double post.

Ok so every so often ill be driving along an my pathy will start smelling like blown out candle smoke. I have tried to narrow it down: It seems to be strongest after do a long turn where the wheel is cranked fully over, when i have been in traffic and there has been a lot of stop and go(so lots of clutch work), and sometime just when it feels like it. Anyone have a clue? There are no fluid leak coming from under the car, checked that, oil levels are all good, brake fluid is fine...etc. Im really weirded out by it all.
-
Yah is saw those ones for sale, but they are one piece and as you experienced they are a REAL bitch to get in, something im an hopeing to avoid. Might just have to break down and get the ones from AC. sigh...stupid boarder fees.

Ok so my pathy is starting to get the death wobble issue. I know how to fix it, by replaceing the bushings in the rear upper and lower trailing arms (or control arms) along with the panhand rod bushings. So my question is what should i replace them with? OEM from nissan or poly bushings? I was thinking poly because of what i have read both on quality and install ease. Also, where should i buy them? I know AC sells them for a grad total of $150 w/o bolts. But I live in canada and getting things over the boarder is a real c*cksucker these days. So i was hoping that someone else has done this and could tell me if there is an alternitive here in canada where i can buy bushing that will fit. Thanks

suspension upgrade plan overview
giddyuppony replied to giddyuppony's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Hey just wanted to ask a quick question. So I was in the shop today talking to the guy about prices for Bilstein and KYB shocks for the rear and the bilsteins are about $70 bucks more then the KYBs. The question is are the KYB shocks alright to use or is it better to just pony up the cash and get the Bilsteins? Also what size lift do i what to get for the OME 1.75" lift coils? Thanks, -

So I looked at the Bilstein 5150 stocks and there are a lot of options for travel length, Which one do you suggest when running the OME coils? -

Ok so quick question for the rear, I understand the lack of trust of rancho struts, but what about for the shocks? Would it be better to go with the Bilstein( I am not sure of the model number)? They seem cheaper, any comments? -

Awesome, Thanks for the feed back. -
So I have been researching suspension options for my pathfinder for sometime, a lot of it through this forum, and have come to a bit of a hault. Im pretty set on the OME coils but would like to run some other struts and shocks, now I was hoping that some one could please give me some insight as to which set up would be ideal. My concern is that by running a mix match something might go wrong in the sense that there is an issue of compatibility. I wanted to run the OME 1.75 inch lift HD coils (are these to hardcore, should I drop down to the comfort? My goal is to have improved suspesion that will last) with rancho struts (need a recommendation for this) and rs9000xl shocks. From my readings I dont realy see the kyb are all that great after reading about all the topping out issues. (anyone running this or similar?) Part 2; Now for the installation of the goodies. I wanted to know if it is worth trying to do the install by myself or just have a shop do it? Any and all info is helpfull, thanks.

Ok sweet, Ill pick one of those up. I was just reading the thread about swaying pathfinders and there is a great write up, but they talk about soaking the bushings, whats that all about? i was going to buy the poly bushing from 4x4parts.com is this a good idea?
-
Great thanks a lot. Just one more question before I head to the parts store, as far as instruction for taking them out go, where can i go to find some good instructions?
-
Ok so I was reading the thread about replacing the upper and lower linkages and i had a question, does the length matter? Im planning on lifting the pathfinder 1.75-2" but i need to get the upper and lower links replaced first, so i dont want to do this more then once and buy more then one set of links. (I made a similar post on the pathy sway thread, I know that probably a no no but im kinda in a pinch for time so I thought/ hope that it will be answered a little quicker by posting it here, Sorry if this make someone angry) Thanks,

pathy swaying at freeway speeds
giddyuppony replied to nissandoms47's topic in R50 FAQ's & Pinned Topics
Hey hope some one will answer this question. I was looking at rugged rockers and the have some SWEET upper and lower links for sale, expensive but nice. I was thinking of getting them but I wanted to know about sizing. At present the pathy is stock, but im planning on putting either the OME or AC lift on it ( 1.75" or 2.0" respectively) Now the question, do i need to have a different length of upper and lower links for the before and after lift, or will one size fit all? thanks, -
Ok so I took my pathfinder to the dealers(aka stealers) for a check up. So my question is the stealers told me that i have 2mm left on my rotors. They gave me 2 options, one i can have them replace the rotors and re pack the bearing for $600.00 or they can machine the rotors while on the car and not repack the bearings for $300.00. So I have a few questions 1: I was under the impression it was the break pads wore out not the rotors themselves? 2:Are the dealers full of @!*% ? 3: ( not really a question, but i would like to know all the same) After reading the repacking bearings link and brake replacement threads i just wanted to know if someone else had tried this/ done this and if they wouldn’t mind telling me a little bit more about some of the challenges. Thanks,

Time To Deck Out My Pathfinder
giddyuppony replied to buckwheatLA's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Just a quick question, regarding the K&N filter and the MAF adaprter, i have a 98 chilkoot and wanted to know what you went with? I too am looking to improve the mpg. Also if anyone knows any shops in the victoria bc that do good work i would really like to know. thanks -
Hey everyone This is my first post here so please bear with me. My pathfinder was making strange noises so i took it to the stealers and had them look it over, long and short of it is that i need to replace the suspension, struts, rear suspension likages and brakes. So i figure its a perfect excuse to start upgradeing my 98 chilkoot pathfinder from its curent stock set up. I figure a lift, new suspension likages, bushings, skid plate and some other armour. If anyone has some suggestions for engine upgrades and anyother other equipment mods please let me know. These mods arent really anything hardcore, just designed to the be more suited to riding on harsher conditions( logging roads Also what is the best way to go about installing all the goodies? thanks
