  1. Hi there, maybe I am losing my mind but what are you guys and gals seeing the rpm's at going 65mph. I have stock 235-70-15 tire size. I am seeing anywhere from 2600 to 3000. It seems that when I start driving on the highway for the first time that day I am at 3000 rpm for a good bit then it drops to 2600 or so. I don't remember it doing it in the past and just want to catch something early if something is going wrong. There are no strange noises and everything seems to be working properly. Maybe it is just an age thing, 122k and 97 model Thanks James
  2. Probably would not be all that hard but unlike some vehicles like jeeps that are basically a tub, you will have wire loom and lots of random shapes of floor pan. It would always look very dirty as well. Hit the salvage yard and get some carpet out of one of them. It would also be crazy loud in the truck as well. James
  3. I pulled mine out last and once I got past 13 years of dirt and sand falling on me my canister had the charcoal brick break up for sure. I could pour the charcoal out of the box so it was bad. The new/used unit is solid so I rest the light blew out all the lines and cleaned all the pieces in the engine compatment as best I could so well see what happens. James
  4. Well I stopped by the local salvage yard and will picked up the complete assembly with all valves and such for $35. I shook the unit and no charcoal came out or made and strange noises. They told me that if it did not fix the problem I can bring it back. I figure since my unit has the loose charcoal in it that this can't be any worse. James
  5. Just had mine done and it was the fronts only that were out. He put it on a machine and it tells which ones need it so I guess it just depends on what is out of wack. James
  6. So I am putting my manual hubs on yesterday on my 97 and pass side was super simple no problem. Got to drivers side and the hub was a B(*&H to get on. Super tight and I actually had to use a rubber dead blow to help assist. So it is on and all is well and feels great but I noticed some play in the axel where I could hold the hub and move it back and forth a bit, so some in and out play not side to side. I did not have that on the passanger side. I don't get any clicking or any kind of noises when driving. What are your thoughts on the play? Bad bearing/cv/axel? Thanks James H
  7. Hi there does anyone have the Thule 2019 fit kit for the Thule roof rack to be installed on there car. I bought one but am missing some clips I believe. I need to see some pictures of the rack installed on your pathy. Thanks James H
  8. I agree, I blew the lines out via the directions from the dealer and strangley enough I did not see any charcoal bits flying out? I did have the air flowing through so no clog in the lines. Who knows where it all went or was comming from. I guess I will keep driving it till it becomes a problem. James
  9. Before I start buying parts, I discovered my charcoal canister is leaking into the system (cel 1447)and it needs replace. I see post saying it van be had for $60. Everything I am finding is $140 price range and it is called a Vapor Canister (big box located left side of spare tire) I am assuming this is the same thing? Does it really need to replace the canister? I figure I can blow out the lines and clear the system of loose pieces. Thanks James
  10. Not a mud pic but here is some snow from the weekend.
  11. Wow not sure why there are three threads started on this. I don't have a for sure answer but I know the cold makes alot of difference to the mileaage. Plugs and wires that are older can cause issues. Maybe older fuel filter that. I would start by replacing those 3 things and it is also good maintaince as well. sorry not a big help. James
  12. Just got it done 1/26/10 Timing Belt/Water Pump and all belts installed labor and all at $312 out the door. I had 122k on the clock and the belt was factory so probably a good thing it was done when it was. James H
  13. Well not to sure but I replaced the coolant and now it seems to be working fine? James
  14. Not yet, I have been getting all the service items up to date. Front and rear diff drail fill/ Transfer case drain fill / transmission flush / Timing belt/water pump and all belts replaced/ Mile Marker hubs. I guess since that is all done now I need to find some mud amd hopefully not get stuck.. I will post new pics soon. James
  15. Alrighty I have ordered some Manual hubs from Mile Marker for the Pathy and from what I can tell without pulling the old ones off it looks to be a pretty easy install. If anyone has any information that may help or a headsup on what to expect then that would be much appreciated. Thanks James H
  16. Hi everyone, just got my 97 and am finding my ac/heat controls are acting up. Here we go. Firt of Ac works fine and heat works fine as well as all the fan speeds. The issue is that at the coldest temp all is well then if I turn the dial on notch toward heat I get very hot heat. So I go from cool to heat and nothing in between. Trying to decide if it is the blower resistor, the controls them self or I see there is a little black box down low behind the middle dash that has a arm that moves electrically when I turn the ac/heat dial. Thanks for any help on this. James H
  17. Hi everyone I just picked up a nice little run around Pathfinder. It is a 1997 LE in real nice shape. I have started doing the standards it may need. Changed the Diff fluids/Transfer case and Tranny. Getting the Timing belt and waterpump on tuesday. I think my first mod is putting on a set of Mile Marker Manual hubs. There are a couple of questions and will post them in the forum. Anyway I look forward to chating with you guys and gals. I have always had good luck on previous Mazda and Honda forums. Thanks James H
