  1. Hey All!

My oil pressure gauge on goes to a little under the first line - I am assuming thats 40

whats the normal range for this gauge?

    Thanks!

  2. That's not the first time I've seen those re-treads blow up. I usually throw a couple of those away a month...

Good thing it didn't cause any extreme damage or cause you to flip!

I quit running retreads when one blew on me and flipped around and crinkled my whole wheel well.

    looked something like this:

  3. Stock, you have a fan clutch, it sounds like it is binding. Try turning it by hand, it should free wheel 1/4+ turn if you spin it as fast as you can. If this seems ok, them run it until it warms up/makes the noise, shut off the motor and check it again. Should be an easy fix (8 bolts/nutz)

wow... learn something every time i come in here...

is this true on all fans w clutches?

  4. Dear Santa,

    I want:

3" Body Lift - found here

3" Suspension Lift - found here

    Steering Stabilizer - here

    Oil Filter Relocator - there

    -OR-

Just some work lately and I will buy them myself.

    -and-

A lifetime membership to NPORA and about 16lbs of that delicious sliced bbq chicken they make up there at the Lowes Foods Deli.

Oh yeah... and a Pool,... so my wife can get a Pool Boy and leave my A$$ alone for Gods' sake!

and world peace, good will towards all men, yada yada yada

BTW: Tell Mrs. Clause I said "Wassup!" oh and don't worry bout coming down the chimney this year as I blocked it off with some plywood to try and fight that terrible odor them birds left behind over the summer - just come in the back door and help yourself to a beer and what not. If my wife is still up when you get in, just do whatever and take your time, I'll be sleeping.

  5. Were you drunk? Where did you think all that oil was going if not on the ground? :omg:

    Funny though...

You can have your man card back... I figure it takes a bigger man to admit to such skill, lol.

I accidentally fixed a leaky squealing power steering pump one time... I had to fill the dam reservoir up every morning.. one day, I accidentally put brake fluid in the PS pump, cranked the car up and no squeal.. and it stopped leaking... ;)

  6. Yes it still dies with no / part / full throttle. This is turning into a restoration project instead of a repair job!

when you put it in gear, does it grab hard / normal as it dies ...?

or... does it die as you drop into gear?

when in park or neutral - can you rev it up, does it run normal?

i would quit throwing parts at it, pretty obvious that aint fixing it.

probably other stuff you wanted to spend your money on - pita that's for sure

I had a truck a while back.. not a pathy.. it had a bad safety switch thing on the trans that made it do that same thing - (the thing that keeps you from cranking up in gear). I did that same thing as you trying to fix it and I wasn't even close to the problem.. literally

probly not the help your looking for, just my :my2cents:

  7. Hey All!

Yesterday I took my front wheels off and used my pressure washer to blast the grime and grease off the lower part of the motor - both sides.

    Today... it has a miss.

I did not water down the top side of engine ( except on either side of motor )

It does not miss at idle or low load, but misses like hell when I press the gas more than granny style.

    Any ideas?

And as always... thank you in advance!

  8. ok we can close this one then - I went to the LKQ pull your part junk yard today and nabbed the alt out of a 94 truck with a v6 for $17 - im guessing its a 70amp

the connections were in different spots and the harness connector was a little different so I clipped off the harness up the wires a bit and spliced the 2 wires in it to the ones on my pathy.

Now my gauge is showing a steady 13v and all is good as far as I can tell. Glad I didnt have to give $100+ for the thing~

Thanks for all your help guys! :jig:

  9. Carbon canister for emissions, I'm pretty sure. I have a 95 so I don't know if our units are the same. There shouldn't be any liquid in it. What kind of liquid is it??

At least drain, if not replace it. Are you sur the vacuum diaphram is finctioning correctly?? Maybe that is responsible??

    B

Yeah, beats me if its working properly or not - no sure if there is liquid in it, just sounds like its gurgling - wasnt sure if that was normal or not...

  10. Hey all!

Got my alternator done today and now with the knocking and grinding sound gone, I noticed a new noise that could not be heard over the old rattlin alt.

The noise emanates from this thing and sounds like a coffee maker percolating, it that normal or should I do something? Item in question pictured below:

and as always - thank you in advance!

LOL - I have no idear on wth is up with da red.... I guess the previous owner must have been on meth or something and thought "Hey, Ya know what would be sweet?" whilst shaking a can of krylon fire engine touch up...

I will be rectifying that situation asap!

I got some feelers out here on the boards for ppl parting out their 87's, I need a few things...

I need a new alternator or used... what models can I take one from that will match up?

  12. Need to R&R the alternator - I have the V6

Truck is new to me so I am not sure what direction to start from (top or bottom) looks like a pita either way. Any help, advice, tutorials, tools needed etc.. would be very much appreciated.
