  1. I've seen alot of talk about conversions using chevy motors. I havent seen a post yet using a Jeep 4.0. They are very powerfull motors and its a 6 cyl. I believe they were rated at something like 195 ponies. I had that motor in my YJ and XJ. Allways enough power to mud. I would think it would be a better option than a big V8. and there lots of them in junkyards. Am I missing somthing?
  2. Thanks for the help. Like you said Terrano, best leave some things for the pros. I'll wait nfor new rubber first.
  3. The more I take things apart the more I find jacked up... Love it though! I took my lower engine shield off a to track an oil leak and saw the alternator was dripping with oil. Inside and all. I tried to find where it could leak from but no luck. I checked the valve covers no prob. there. I checked the timing belt cover the best I could and didnt find an issue. What is directly above the alternator that could leak oil? I don't see how the alternato keeps working but i does..
  4. This is a new post from a prior one.. Simon and MWS.. You had stated that excessive inside tire wear can be caused by excessive camber or excessivly worn bushings. Today I took off the front tires and took some pics of the upper control arm bushings which to me looked "deflated". I also included a pic off the front tire so you can see the wear( if I can post pics correctly). Is this something that can be done at home. I am very knowledgable with motors when it comes too front end stuff its all pretty new to me...any tips wouldn would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I was just looking at the Lock rites pic. I understand why there would be a ratcheting noise and even in the pants feel when cornering under power. What if each individual gear tooth was "deburred" slightly to ease unlocking on the steet. Cou;ld that infact give a better street attitude for us that dont go off road regulary?
  6. Not trying to hijack here...Maybe this can help others too. But, This makes me thinks a little.. My front tires are wearing badly on the insides. I'm waiting for new rubber before I get an alignment. The front of the pathy seems to be a little lower in the front. If I were to raise the front an inch or so would that make the stress on the inside of the tires more or would it temporarily correct the alignment? 94' SE
  7. That gap seems a little tight. my manual says .031-.035". .9 mm is under .024", That is probably not the cause of your problem. Just something to adjust. 94' SE
  8. I allways hated the lack of turn radius on my Pathy. My Wrangler could make a u turn on a dime. So I checked underneath and saw the stops. My truck currently has the stockies on it and has lots of room for adjustment. I checked in my service manual and could find nothing about it. There is a knob on the end which can make some kind of circular motion on top of a regular bolt. then goes into a 1" nut. What is the method for making adjustments. I dont want to strip anything.
  9. OK, Found this link which cleared everything up for me. The blinks I was getting is normal. I reset and will do it all again tomorrow. BTW how many O2 sensors are there?
  10. First off I 'd like to thank all whom replied. I reset the codes and waited a day and did it again. It was still the same but I looked a little better and what I think its telling me is I have 3 separate issues codes 23, 24, and 25. I guess that could be possible. What do you think?
  11. I forgot to mention that I infact cleaned the MAF. I get less than 10 mi. to the gal. around town. With all the miles I have it probably would be a good idea to change the 02 anyway.
  12. Thanks. I tried 3 more times and still the same. Should I reset the whole thing and try it again? Rich
  13. I downloaded and read the posts on reading codes and can't find my codes or I'm reading wrong. Heres my issue I have a 94' SE 200,000 mi. and gets terrible gas mileage. did the usual stuff, plugs, rotor etc.no help. So, I checked for codes and this is what i got; 1 slow pause then 2 slow pause then 3 fast then 4 fast then 5 fast. The slow ones are whats screwing me up. Is it me? Rich
