I buy and sell stuff all over the world I have done well so far, but mostly selling stuff overseas. Use protection! If they are certified by paypal I'm not worried, its amazing that with shipping costs it can still actually be affordable.

Remove driveshaft if towing with wheels on ground?
2dr replied to 2dr's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
If all 4 are on the ground I dont see why they would run backwards. I'm going like 40 miles and the speed limit is 65 in some parts, but mostly 55. So I can go as fast/slow as I want. (pass me a-holes!) -
Haynes manual says to remove driveshafts if towing over 30 mph, true? If transfer case and tranny are in N what is the big deal? Those driveshafts spin when its driving, seems like it would be less stress when towing. Hoping to bring home to shop with friends truck and tow bar, BTW anyone ever mount one or have suggested mounting points.

It's just money right? I might have to get it just because it matches the 2dr.

I was looking at v8s and was suprised to see that a comparable condition small block costs double what that 30det costs. but i guess i would need a new computer and the fuel injection would suck.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...mMakeTrack=true looks like around 1800 to get youy started with a very clean and complete engine. But this would be going the electronic route. Personally I would prefer a carb'd 350, simple=good but turbo engines are just so cool, I have never owned a turbo car and i would love to put that engine in an 88 'finder. Just picture yourself in that mud hole, spool the turbo(s), drop the clutch and let the mud fly...

so what engines do yall put in here and ballpark where and how much, i'm probably not interested but I like to dream.

Well thanks for all the experiences guys, and I live in WI so not really near charlotte but thanks for the offer. I did the valves and head on my 87 acura integra, and I have an infiniti m30 which has pretty much the same engine, so i guess i will give fixing it a shot. I'm still hoping that something just broke in the distributor because the mechanic said he just took the rotor cover off and cranked the engine and it didnt move. I might get to look at the truck tomorrow. Sure wish I didnt have to tow it 30 miles to get it back to my meager workshop. anyway yeah no bangs and i dont think i even hit the clutch right away, it definitely spun a few hundred revolutions. plus turning it over with the start button.
-
yeah i know but the truck is 30 miles away, so i cant look at it at the moment, this is frustrating.
-
I'm guessing it is not my timing belt that broke then, becuase i had no bad noises after mine died. I wish the truck wasnt 30 miles away or i could go and look at it and know, argh!

I was just driving along on my way home this weekend at 55 when suddenly the tach went to zero and all was quiet, engine was still turning along with the wheels but not running. So when i rolled to a stop it happened to be at a small auto repair place and the guy just called and said my timing belt broke. So I gather that this is a non interference engine and now i have a hell of a project on my hands. has this ever happened to anyone? I dont have a lot of confidence in this auto place and i find it hard to believe it was the timing belt and not something electrical, but i just wanted to get some advice from anyone who has replaced the belt to find out what i'm in for.

hey that exact same thing just happened to me yesterday. 20 miles into the return trip after mudding and all of a sudden the tach went to zero and I was coasting in silence. I waited around for awhile and it didnt start again, not fuel prob, I put some gas right in the tb so i guess ignition? All connections look good, where are these fusible links you are talking about?

they have 4900 miles, look like newish. I read a review and after like 3000 miles the editors said there was no noticable tread loss. So i'm excited, and the tires that are on her now look as though they have enough tread on them that I can go to the used tire place and trade the old tires for the cost of mounting and balancing, at least that is what I will offer.

in the mail now

I like your truck, so how does 380 sound for a set of 4 claws delivered, 30 or less to mount them.
-
I found a set of Mickey baja claws for cheap, will this fit the stock rim width? 31-10.50-15
-
Thanks guys, I'll check what the local tire shops have to offer.

With stock suspension and looking to keep all of my steering travel under normal street driving conditions. stock tire height is 28.29 in, would 30s fit? 31s? should I keep the stock size? my new project needs to retain all its bodily fluids before I can think about lifting it. I thought this would be a well covered topic but I searched and couldnt find any info. But looking to buy tires in a day or two. particularily these tires item # 300027201892 in good old ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...TRK%3AMEWA%3AIT thanks yall and if anyone is around oshkosh wisconsin contact me asap
