  1. I COMPLETELY went over the relay box. All clean and tight, new main and FP relay. Funny thing is, it doesn't seem to be running out of gas, it jus flat & suddenly dies.....almost like an ignition short of some sort, but the fact that it restarts itself, and does so "reliably", seems to negate a short....just coasting along and all of a sudden running again.........I've had 3 Nissan Z's, and never had any problem of the sort, just kinda wonderin ifn any o u had such a problem. Hammer....string....and like a spring, yeah? I like it.
  2. Hi. I have an 89 Pathfinder 5spd. A couple months ago, it didn't want to start. I replaced the fuel pump. No change. After playin around a bit, I found if I wacked the relay box, the fuel pump started. Easy enuff fix. New relays and a quick wiring check on the box......no change. About then, in the mornings and afternoons to and from work, 15-or-so minutes after I hit the road, it randomly and suddenly dies, coasts for bout 1/4mi, then spontaneously self-starts......yeah..... 75% of all starts require me to wack the relay box...works like a charm.....wiring looks good.... I'm open to any an all suggestions, including smart remarks.
  3. 88pathoffroad had mentioned to me that many ignition systems may need some kind of wiring harness adaptor to kepp the tach functioning properly...can anyone else expand, or comment on this? I've noticed that no one makes an air intake for these. I was interested in hearing about some stuff you all may have scabbed togther. I'm getting the 4x4parts.com "triple nickel plated" headers for the v6 next week, it sez "some fabrication may be required". I tried to get Thorley headers, but the 5spd setup can be a problem that way. Anyone here installed these on a 5spd? How'd it go?
  4. Also, what K&N-or-whatever intakes do you guys usually make to fit these, or is there another model/brand thats a good fit? I finally moved to a place with no emissions testing, and now that I'm doing all this fun stuff to the truck, I'm wondering what all is involved in bypassing the factory emissions equipment.
  5. It seems when it's cold it takes 2-3min for the relay to close. I put a new one in it last week, no change.
  6. Checked it and swapped it, no change. That was my 2nd guess after I changed the pump. It's a REALLY wierd problem no?
  7. Cool, thank you. I suspected there wasn't much available ECU-wise, I saw only JCW. So I guess its just headers, MSD, and intake this paycheck. If anyone has a minute, I have a wierd problem that I haven't really had time to look into on the truck yet....... When I turn the key on, there is a 3-4minute delay before the fuelpump kicks in. I replaced the fuelpump. No change. RARELY when I'm goin down the road, she'll give me a "hiccup" and almost die, then roll right on. Whattayathink? Electrical/alarm/fuel pressure reg?
  8. Greetings all. I have a slick 89 Pathy. This week I'm gettin Thorley headers because I've owned many Nissans, and I know they just can't keep a manifold in one piece....small price to pay. I'm also getting the brushguards from 4x4parts.com this week, and if I can swing it I was lookin to get an ECU and ignition, but I could use some direction....... The truck is a daily driver, so I don't need total performance, just a quality, reasonably priced punch.....suggestions? MSD, Crane, Morley...?
