  1. Hey thanks man. I did search before I asked and did not find the answers to my questions. I appriciate your help! what would you suggest as to my shocks. If I reindex to increse ride height say 1 inch should I buy shocks 1 inch longer to mantain original ride. Thanks again.
  2. I need a little schooling on this subject. Am I to assume that on a stock suspension that I can reindex my torsion bars and get a little extra lift in the front end but retain about the same amount of spring tension. in other words the front end suspension want feel stiff compared to factory settings. also if i am correct in my thinking can this be done on other vehicles with torsion bars? I want to level my Pathy with out stiffening the front end and adding undue torque to an already aging suspension. Thanks
  3. I think I am going to have to go the Stealership route. I have been to a ton of junk yards and they are either missing or so brittle that they break when removed. This was easy with the jeep cause there are a blue million of these in scrap yards here. Just not a lot of pathys or hard bodys. thanks
  4. I need to get some interior parts. Arm rest, dash pad, vent bezel. I have found after market carpet that is reasonable. Bumpers are reasonable. I was wanting to know if anyone knows about the availability of these parts . I want to buy these parts new. Are these a Stealership only part? Any ideas or suggestions let em flow!! Thanks -study-
  5. I say go ahead and do it! Better yet get some one to photochop a pic of Your pathy with the same paint scheme to see how it looks. it can be done with cans one panel at a time but I would try to tape off everything myself buy the paint from local autobody paint store and pay some one to spray it. I bet it will look cool! Who has photoshop on their PC?
  6. Thanks JJ, I'll give fuel cleaner a try maybe it will remove the built up gunk. I think if it was a hole in the float it may not respond at all. Worth a try before tearing into the fuel cell.
  7. Rock auto has 4 different types ranging 10 to 30 dollars http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,...00,partGroup,33 Has anyone changed the modulator and found that it fixes the hard shift to 2nd gear ?
  8. if not locally try Rockauto.com I wish I knew how to add a link. I suck at the internet
  9. Any one know what is in the tank as a level detector? Is there 2 in the tank or are we just using the same voltage in different ranges to get 2 readings?
  10. I had the kick down linkage stick on my tranny one time. It would not shift out of first gear. I had reverse and first but nothing else. Hope thats it! P.S. This was on an Olds, Not sure how the Pathy tranny does the passing gear
  11. Thanks, I just needed to know. bought this for a Cherokee sometime back with all the tubing for my cherokee. wrecked it. never installed. paid 15 bucks and I need to use it for something more that garage art!
  12. If I can work out the change I'll pm you . I hope your not in a big hurry for the tranny. Looks like I might be the first around here to try this thing. I'll have to take my time and a lot of pics. i dont want to render a good vehicle completly useless!
  13. I am about to do the Trans cooler Mod. the measurements for the old cooler I have it is 5x11 inches with approx. 16 fins/ coolant tubes. Is this large enough to provide adequate cooling for the tranny fluid when bypassing the radiator :help:
  14. Sorry for the horrible pic but as you can see the 1/4 to empty gauge is about right in the middle and the regular gauge is on empty and this is with the ignition in the off position. There is really 3/4 of a tank of fuel. which the regular gauge works fine but the other gauge just bothers me that it doesnt work. I have other things that need to be done to this rig first but this one stares me in the face
  15. I know I saw a thread where someone was talking about their pathy having duel fuel gauges but cant find it using the search. I have them but they dont seem to work properly. The 1/4 to empty gauge seems to only work at about half scale. could this be caused by the voltage transformer/regulator that has caused problems with other instrument gauges?
  16. Dennis, I am thinking I have a bad boot also and I need to get that trans cooler install completed a.s.a.p.
  17. Cool! were there originally heat sheilds located between muffler and body and cat. converter and body or were there other places on the exhaust system where they were located also.
  18. Funny this thread should come up. I have been looking under my 87 for heat sheilds that are located between the tranny and body. There is an extreme amount of heat coming from the floor board and up through the console around the shifter etc. I dont think there is one heat sheild on the whole vehicle. typicaly where are the heat sheilds located and what material are they mader from? Any thing on this would be helpful. I want to install all heat sheilds in the vehicle because it gets really hot with only 2 windows and 3 vents open!
  19. Jerry, Check your PM's Thanks
  20. Red, I ordered the part from auto zone. Ordered at 10 am it arrived at 3 pm. When I saw on their computer that it was a Nieoff (< check spelling) part I was pretty sure it would be the right one. of all the places auto zone was the cheapest @ $35.99 Thanks for the link and the part number!
  21. JJ, What did you do about the vac switches. Did you remove them and plug the vac lines.
  22. Jerry, That would be greatly appreciated! Let me know when and where and I will send you a money order to cover cost of what ever is needed. The 89 model should have the wiring diagram for the 4 spd. auto. I think 87 was the last year for the 3spd. You are the man
  23. Cool! Its the one in the middle. The bottom one pictured is the one that they keep sending. it has 0-60 stamped on it.The pathy has a 0-120 scale gauge. When I installed the one they sent at idle it would show pressure and the light would come on. Thanks for the link. I cant wait to get this thing resolved.
  24. O.K. I know I am comparing apples to oranges here but...my cousins girl washed her Miata at the car wash and the same thing happened. We dried everything we could think of but it still kind of ran rough. We had her drive it around a little in the neighbor hood and it cleared up. That has not happened to me since I started spraying electrical connections with a silicone spray. now days theres a ton of small electrical connections on a vehicle but I think its worth the time. I have sprayed under the cap, rotor, plug boots at plugs and cap. connectors in the wiring harness. Anything with an electrical connection wouldnt hurt. Spray and wipe! A good silicone spray helps to remove moisture and will help to prevent water from causing trouble. A little insurance for the next time on the trail that you have to hit it a little hard to cross a big mud hole or when watching to make sure water dosent pour into your snorkle as you cross a creek! Sorry for the long post but I hope this helps.
  25. I plan on installing the cooler as soon as I get the oil sending "switch w/gauge" unit resolved. Local parts stores seem to have the same type of switch, all of them the wrong one.
