  1. It was multiple popping. It was fine on a low incline, but once the incline increased and I really had to hit the gas, it was multiple fast poppings until I let off and rolled back down the hill. While trying to climb, all 4 tires would begin to spin and the truck started hopping a little, and that is when I really heard them. I will check the hub, but I thought I put it back in correctly. Are the any schematics on how to put it in place correctly? I appreciate all of yalls help.
  2. I have automatic hubs. The CV axle on the side that it sounded like it was coming from is brand new. My only guess would be the steering because it is pretty shot, but I just didn't know if popping tie rod ends could make that loud of a noise. Thanks.
  3. I took my pathy off road this past weekend, and in 4 wheel drive while climbing a pretty steep hill, the front end began to make a loud popping noise. This was the first time I have heard this in 4 wheel drive. The truck drives and sounds fine in 4 wheel drive when not trying to climb a steep incline. It didnt sound like anything coming from the suspension. It almost sounded like their was a gear that was skipping under the tork. The guys that went with me said that my steering was shot because when I was trying to climb the hill, my tires just pointed in and were trying to plow the dirt rather than climb the hill (if that makes any sense). My question is, could bad tie rod ends, which I have, and a bad center link cause this kind of loud popping? I put a new cv axle in on one side, and I think it was the side the noise was coming from. Could an axle that may not be seated completely cause this noise. The volume of the noise was very loud too. Thank you.
  4. Hey Slick...thanks for all the advise. Finally got the bypass hose, new fuel line, and radiator in this evening. Great advise on tons of lubrication on the hose. The new hose clamps also helped out tremendously in installing the new hose because you can move them around much easier on the hose than the stock Nissan ones. I give the middle finger salute to whoever at Nissan designed the placement of that hose.
  5. I finally pulled my bypass hose out this evening. I was really pushing my luck with the old one in there at 150k. Those clamps were a pain!!! Not to mention trying to get the hose and clamps out of that cramped space. I haven't disconnected the small gas line just yet. I pulled the old pieces of hose out the bottom side after removing the belt pully tensioner, but I can tell that it is going to be a pain to put the new one in. Is it better to approach putting the new bypass hose in from the top or bottom?? After reading these other posts, I am going to replace that small gas line...is it just regular gas line hose, or is it a special Nissan hose?? Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
  6. Are the stabalizer drop links the links at the end of the long bar that attaches from the frame to the rear axle? Do you have any idea on the rubber bushings squeeking sound coming from the drivers' side rear wheel well? Thanks for the reply
  7. I checked the U joints and everything was ok. I didn't check the tranny mount though, but it sounds like it is coming from the rear. Thanks for the suggestion
  8. P.S. I took the Pathfinder into a Nissan dealership for an alignment about 6 months ago and mentioned the problem. The mechanic told me it was my bumper stops on my suspension bottoming out. My truck doesn't even sit that low, but he seemed to think it was a problem with the suspension, but in order for those stops to hit, my truck would be pretty well slammed low in the back.
  9. I have a 5 spd. 95 pathfinder SE v6. In first gear, I will begin to take off and start moving while I am releasing the clutch, and all of a sudden (from the rear end or rear middle) I hear and feel a pop. Don't notice it in any other gear, just when I take off from a dead stop. I do tow a boat and 4 wheeler quite frequently. It feels as if the lug nuts are loose and they are popping when I hit the gas (even though they are tight). It has been doing this for a long while. Also, when I turn, the drivers side rear wheel well has a squeeking rubber sound (sounds like a warped rubber disk, but only notice it when I turn). Not too familiar with these rear ends, is it a limited slip? As far as I know everything is still stock. I checked the rear end oil level, and it is full (the oil is dark blueish in color, but not burnt). If anyone has experienced anything like this and could help me out in pin pointing the problem, I would greatly appreciate it.
