  1. Happened to me in my '94 not long ago for one of my blinkers, turned out to be a blown fuse and one of the wires had disconnected because someone had rewired it.
  2. I found on ebay an "add a leaf spring kit" for pathfinders that say they will raise the backend 2.5-3". What would be the difference between that and coils?
  3. I just had this problem with my '94 except it was with my left side blinkers. Someone had rewired it and it had shaken loose [it being the front headlight], so we fixed the screwed up part and all is well. I think i also had a blown fuse but i don't remember, it was a few weeks ago.
  4. Well i figured i'd reintroduce myself since i've been gone for quite a while [over a year i think!]. I have a '94 pathfinder 4wd 5spd that i absolutely love. It gets me everywhere i want to go, from mud up to the exhuast to 2ft deep sand to 3ft deep snow to cross country trips, it just keeps chugging along, and it's never left me stranded. Other than our recent loss of compression, i can't complain too much, i love my pathfinder! I still would like to lift my truck in the future, but while in college i don't see it happening anytime soon due to financial reasons. Anyway just thought i'd reintroduce myself and say hello again. Thanks to everyone who has helped me with my pathy! Here it is after a day of hunting in the desert some pictures pictures i've taken
  5. Mines stock as well, except i've got 31x10.5
  6. I don't drive fast due to a few "reminders" of what the speed limit is when i used to have a car, and i also do mostly highway driving on the way to/from my hunting fields. I also don't use AC or heat unless i really have to. The mechanic is a personal friend, i don't think he is trying to screw me over, he told me he wouldn't bother replacing the piston rings because it's not really worth the money to do a rebuild.
  7. Almost none, every time i change my oil i still have all the way full on the dipstick, i never took the time to measure it after i empty it.
  8. I sure hope so! I spend A LOT of time in the desert hunting and when i want to go home...i want to go home LOL I must say my pathy has gotten through a lot of crap i never expected it to...esp when it comes to muddy river washes and sand. If only i weren't broke so i could give it the new engine+trans+lift+33's it deserves
  9. I'm assuming that was all the cylinders, i didn't ask, as like i said i am pretty stupid when it comes to the engine. Easy stuff i can take care of [oil, intakes, etc] but anything taking the engine apart and i turn it over to people who should know what their doing or I'll watch someone else do it first. Surprisingly, i have been getting almost 20mpg in my pathy, even with the compression and needing a tune up. The power thing kind of bites me in the ass and thats why i took it in in the first place, i wasn't able to maintain speed up hills like i used to be able to, but as long as the truck keeps plugging along than i'll be happy. I'm in college and broke so i need it to keep going for a good while longer.
  10. Been quite a while since i was on these forums but i've been lurking quite a bit recently with my pathy having some troubles. It's currently getting a tune up + timing belt, but the compression was only 75, i think it's supposed to be 125ish? I was told the low compression was most likely due to weak piston rings, which i don't have the money to fix at the moment. Its a 94' 4x4 5spd with 171,000 miles, any idea if it'll keep on chugging with the low compression or should i expect it to kick the bucket soon? Thanks
  11. Alright cool. Helps to have info before buying something Thanks again for the help. I'll go back to saving my $ until school ends then the fun begins
  12. If i do not replace the UCA's will it shorten the longevity of the truck? If so by how much?
  13. So, just for clarification in my little head.... if doing SL- i can use ford/jeep springs, but can I do them all around or just the rear? And UCA's are a must? What difference will they make? and for the BL- Do i need UCA's for this as well? Sorry for COMPLETE and total noob questions.... havnt been thinking about my pathy other than makin sure her oil is good to drag me through our snow thanks again everyone *EDIT* edited question about the UCA's
  14. Yes i am starting to get a feel for it. One quick thing, anyone got a rough estimate of installation prices on the two? I can change my own oil but as soon as its taking @!*% apart..... i become a spectator I do not have skills with a wrench!
  15. Thanks for the pic! So is it agreed that 3" BL is the way to go instead of both since i cant afford new tires as well?
  16. anywhere i can see a pic of pre- and post 3" BL pics?
  17. Hey guys. Been awhile since I was here but im back once again. My gears are no longer grinding badly.... thats good news Powerlocks started acting up as i have read is quite common but i'll fix that once its warmer outside as it hasnt driven me nuts yet. Anyway, the question is about lift kits. At the end of the school year i may be gettng a lift kit but i have a few questions- 1) will my truck look retarded with 3" susp. and 3" body lift w/ 31's? Anyone got a picture of what it would look like? 2) Whats the problem with the AC lift kit? i did a search but was unable to get anything beyond "i dont suggest it". Whats the deal? 3) If you were to only do one of the two lifts, which would it be and why? Thanks guys and sorry if this is repetitive, i did search for about 20min but maybe im just an idiot?
  18. I just did an oil change with full synthetic on sunday.
  19. Thats not what i like to hear... *Tear*. Poor college student with no money LOL. I used all my $ to buy this pathy... bummer really. Hmm, looks like i'll be taking out a loan :-(
  20. Alrighty so heres the deal, i been gone a good while but i used to read these forums before i came to college. I bought my pathy with ~142K now it has probably ~146k. 2nd gear is starting to grind, not audibly but it doesnt go in smooth. Third and fouth gear are whining. This is a 5spd, not sure when trans. fluid was last changed as it is relativly new to me [had it a few months]. I dont have money for major repairs and im pretty much a moron other than i can change the oil. Any advice on what it could be? I hope i dont need a new tranny b/c i can't afford it! Another thing, do you think its safe for long trips? Over the next three months i have multiple 4-8 hour trips each direction [4 to be exact]. Think it woudl be safe or am i in danger of being left on the side of the road? thanks y'all! **EDIT*** '94 5spd SE, oil changed about 50 miles ago, ~146kmiles, 4x4
  21. lol i am quite aware of that
  22. nope, bought the truck and realized it doesnt have one... somehow it got itself lost in the past 14yrs. Workin on getting one.
