  1. I've ignored the knock sensor code for years...
  2. After I had some body work done, the shop didn't replace sensor near the radiator, and the heater exhibited similar symptoms.
  3. Not directly related, but I just put a Clarion CX609 in my 97 SE that had the stock Bose system. $250 delivered from Crutchfield with the harnesses, gain adjustments and antenna connects. Spent the morning soldering leads and about 5 minutes installing... I'd upgrade.
  4. I also used a sawzall to cut the sleeves after using a drill to get the bolt collar out. Had to use an angle grinder to get the bolts out of the frame. A nasty job, but well worth it in the end. Also had to use a tow strap on the axle, pulling it with my car, to align the bolt holes to reinstall the arms.
  5. You're not alone. I've got an 03 Civic Hybrid as my daily driver... 182K miles at around 45mpg, no real problems ever.
  6. My Bose system is crapping out, and I'd like better iPod integration than a cassette adapter. The Bluetooth integration is a nice feature too. All for $250. Looking at a Clarion CX609 - http://www.clarion.com/us/en/products/2009...2409026879.html Any thoughts?
  7. Just went through this with help from the board and found great success See http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=23441
  8. Thanks - just ordered. So the OEM bolts are 14mm?
  9. Thanks to all that replied - very helpful. I have installed two AC camber bolts, one each side. Where's the best place to get two more, and is there any difference between bolts available from different suppliers? Thanks again!
  10. Two. Okay, I think I get it - they install in the two lower holes on the strut and have a smaller diameter to give more play in alligning the strut. Is that correct? So two on each side give you maximum opportunity to angle.
  11. I've installed the 2" AC springs and KYB-GR2 struts on my 97 Pathy. I had a shop install the AC camber adjustment bolts and set the alignment. The shop told me the bolts helped but that the alignment was still a little off. With the naked eye, you can see they still come in a little. \--/ Looking at the suspension, it's not clear to me where the bolts are installed, or if there's anything that I can do until the springs settle a little. Where are the bolts installed? Is it possible to get a good alignment when the springs are new? Is there anything I can do to get a better alignment before I get new tires? Thanks all for the support as I've gone through this project.
  12. They got me the right sleeve today, so I'm cool with them. S*** happens sometimes.
  13. That's not the problem now - I can't reinstall the arms 'cause I have the wrong size bushing sleeve. I finally got all the bolts out - I just can't reinstall the arm cause the bolts don't fit the sleeve.
  14. Frackin' AC sent me a bushing sleeve that's the wrong diameter. I've got all but one bolt to go on my second LCA and am dead in the water.... WTF!
  15. Got one side done - had to grind dow one side - sawzall the other. Will do the other this weekend. This sucks - will be glad when it's done and will never have to do it again. When using the grinder I scraped the hanger - I assume I'll need to paint that to keep the potential for rust lower. Looking forward to no death wobble.
  16. I'm working to remove the lower control arms to put in poly bushings. I had to cut one nut off on the rear (axle). I still cant get the bolt out - as with others as I read I believe it's seized in the bushing sleeve. Any advice? I've banged the hell out of it, heated it with a torch, applied PB Blaster... I'm beginning to think the only alternative is to cut off the bolt head and drill it out from both sides of the shackle.
  17. Installed the Rancho 9000x shocks this morning and took the Pathy offroad for the first time post lift. I can't say enough about the ride - firm but not abusive. It handles dirt and washboard roads well. Didn't do anything extreme at all, and stayed mostly in 2WD with the hubs unlocked. Struts topped out a few times, but wasn't too bad. On the highway, the ride is excellent. Do I need to be overly concerned about topping out damaging the struts or mounts? My poly lower arm bushings should arrive tomorrow - replacing the bushings is the last step of phase one (phase two is skid plates). Thanks again to all the help from the board.
  18. I'm no expert compared to others here, but I just did all this work this weekend. I replaced the OEM bearings and strut dust boots/bumper, added AC lift springs and KYB GR2 struts and Warn hubs, but kept everything else on the strut mount, as it appeared to be in good shape. A local Pep Boys (I'm also in Colo.) assembled the struts for $43, as the spring compressor I rented couldn't safely (IMHO) compress enough to assemble the strut. I thought the ride would be rough, but it's really not too bad - just feels solid.
  19. Was $43 out the door for both struts - good deal given that i couldn't compress the damn things enough.
  20. DONE! Pic is in my profile. AC springs, KYB GR2 struts all installed in the driveway today. Waiting for the Rancho 9000 shocks to be delivered, but did get the rear springs done. Pep Boys assembled the struts (took them three times and my direct supervision to get it right - gggrrrr, but they're open Sunday. Installation job was easier than I thought - thank goodness for impact wrenches. Truck looks great. Still need to receive the poly bushings I ordered for the lower control arms. Skid plates and sliders are next, and then eventually 32s on new wheels - that will wait a while. Thanks to all that provided advice and counsel - it made a big difference. Question - I need to get it aligned. What do I need to look out for when I get the alignment? I do have the camber bolts from AC, but they are not installed.
  21. Having my struts assembled tomorrow morning by a shop. Not to my surprise, I couldn't compress the AC springs enough to get them on the GR-2 struts. Any advice on mounting the struts once they're assembled? I suspect getting the strut bolt holes to line up is going to be difficult.
  22. I just got GR-2 struts from Amazon for less then $90 each, inc. shipping. They're sitting here waiting to be installed.
  23. I should be set to install this weekend. As far as tools, I have an impact wrench (for the shocks, struts and lower control arms. I have a sawzall to cut out the metal sleeves on the control arms. I have a number of jackstands and two hydraulic jacks. I may get a spring compresser for the AC springs, but I worry about killing myself. Any advice on assembling the struts? What's a good price to have them assembled in a shop> To press in the AC bushings into the control arms, I don't have a press. Could a large table mounted vice do the trick?
