  1. I had the same problem with my '92. I went thru lysol, fabreeze you name it. I finally got fed up and grabbed the drain tube inside of the engine compartment and blew in it. Something popped like a glob of goo let loose. I started the engine, ran the ac and a big clump of muck worked it's way out the drain tube. Sound's stupid, but it worked.
  2. Well, after putting the TC in neutral and putting the tranny in drive, it is still making the grinding noise. Obviously it is my tranny. Anyone know any good tranny mechanics in or around Indianaplois?
  3. Ok. You confused me here? Did you mean transmission on one or the other?
  4. I know I am probably going to beat a dead horse hear but, hear is my situation. I have a '92 SE 4X4 AT. My g/f is driving down the road and with no notice, no bang, no lurch no nothing, she said it felt like someone had put on the brakes. Kind of like she was towing something heavy and it was dragging her down. She pulled over and gave me a call. My first thought: transmission. I did go over the 30,000 mile recommended flush but, the level was fine. I decided to go ahead and flush and fill following the instructions on here. Once completed, it would go into all gears just fine but, when you start moving, you can hear a grinding, crunching noise coming from underneath. I jacked the rear end up, put it in neutral and spun the back wheels by hand to eliminate the rear end and u-joints. No noise there. I left it jacked up and started it, put it in gear and yes, the sound is there. Tranny? TC? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I have 230,000 (+) miles on mine and am preparing to dump a few bucks in it to bring it up to par. I think as RMD stated, it's all about trust. I can go out on any day and fire it up, no smoke and still strong (with the exception of the exhaust leak and oil leak). I have had a few woes with it but, for the most part, she hasn't let me down. It still rides smooth and steady on the highway (original shocks) and gets good gas mileage. I figure I can get at least another 100,000 out of her.
  6. OK. I think I am going to go with the Thorleys (THY-464-2-C). I found some at Autoanything.com for $436.05 free shipping. Decent price? So, from the headers back, will I need to customize?
  7. So. I am looking over at Automotive Customizers.com and trying to come up with a complete exhaust kit, headers all the way back. I have a few questions if anyone could help me out here: 1. They have headers that are CA emissions legal, and some that aren't. What is the difference. 2. What headers/converter/exhaust could I piece together with little if any fabrication? 3. And lastly, what about heat shields?
  8. No pics but, here is the link. http://www.remingtontire.com/
  9. Anybody have an opinion on Remington tires? Good? Bad? Indifferent?
