  1. Anyone know anybody in the Seattle area that could replace a coolant bypass hose? How much should I expect to pay?
  2. Thanx..... when folks talk about "lifting the body" to get better clearance to pull the starter.... what do they mean??? Are they actually moving the body, moving the motor off of its mounts or ????? Also where is the "inhibitor relay"... hell I'm going to go get a manual and just get at it. Thanx for the help.... peace Steve
  3. OK... a new twist.... I pulled the relays on the right side fender panel. Cleaned all the contacts, switched the 2 green relays inside of the covered panel. Damm if it didn't fire up like she always did..... this lasted for about a week and now we're back to same problem, dead. Which relay does what? How do you test the relays? Which are starter specific?
  4. I couldn't find a starter removal specific thread. Did you say you knew where one was??? Thanx Steve Yes, 2 bolts and crativity. It's kinda tight down there. The starter comes straight out the front with a few twists and rotations. There is a write up on it somewhere. If you can't find it, let me know... B
  5. This has been a mind f#@k. This situation came on very quickly, 5 days ago it was all fine & dandy... today The truck started to act like it had a dead battery, very slow turning starter, I charged the battery & it started up... well ok.... but something sounded funny while cranking. Then the next day it was acting like the battery was dead again. So I pulled the alternator & it checked out fine, charged the battery again, it again acted like a dead battery, very slow cranking. Next I had the battery load tested, it's good. Now it's intermittent when I hit the key, sometimes it cranks very slowly, sometimes nothing, lights all dim like a dead battery,. The battery is reading 12.7v standing & 13.8 running. I wanted to check the relays, there is one large blue relay near the battery on the fender, that has 2 plug ins. A rectangular black box that has 2 green relays (Fuel Pump/Main) & 1 Blue relay (Check) + 2-15amp fuses (Head lamps) 1 grey relay (horn). Back near the fire wall are 2 more identical blue relays. Could a relay cause this kind of problem? Which are the starter relays??? How do I check them? So if I have to pull the starter, is it 2 bolts holding it on? How do you get to the top bolt??? Any other suggestion for getting it out??? Thanx Steve
