  1. well these are all good, ill stick with magnaflow too but i doubt you can get much sound out of the good old 3 liter

    at one point i just had a straight out and it was fine but i needed an actual exhaust to pass the inspection

    Well if you want to here what a VG30E sounds like with a Flowmaster Two-Chamber (40 Series) Muffler, Jim Wolf Technology Cold Air Intake and Doug Thorley Ceramic Coated Headers. Then watch the vid of my Pathfinder. :friday:

  2. Just to add to the fun here.. are your sure you are almost out of gas when you are checking your mileage? I thought I was getting around the same mileage as you until I decided to see how far I could push it. My gauge said I was empty, but on fill ups I was only getting in 15 gallons. I still had 5 gallons in the tank when I thought I was almost out. :shiftyeyes:

    Yes, I was running on fumes when it reads under the empty line and when I fill it up from that point I put in between 16.8 Gallons or 17.5 Gallons. Now I'm not clear as of what size my fuel tank is, as far as I know it's a 15 or 16.5 Gallon Tank. :shrug::scratchhead:

  3. I have a set of RS9000's(rs9k) waiting to go on the back of my pathy (when I get it back) I bought them for exactly that reason. even out of the box there is a big differance between setting 1(soft) and setting 9(stiff). I hear that the RS5k's are equal to about setting 5 on the 9k's so you'd prolly run setting 3 or 4 unless loaded.

    The 9k's are a little pricy but I will prolly find they are worth it. Here's some part numbers if you wanna try em too;

    for the rear;

    9112's are 26" extended (long-travel you will need tall springs or to have them wired in)

    9116's are 24" extended (1" longer than stock, works for stock and up to 3" SL)

    9118 & oem 23" extended (stock length not reccomended for more than 2" lift.)

    for the front;

    9214 (stock length, IFS does not required longer shocks to take advantage of lift)

    I compared the extension lengths and noticed that Edelbrock makes a universal Xtreme Travel IAS with Reservoir and found chrome finished ones in this length was wondering if it would fit on my 94 Pathfinder 4x4?

    Soft Valving, 7.5" stroke, extended length: 20.14", collapsed length: 12.80"

    or there's the standard Zinc or Chrome finish

    Let me know which would work for the front and rear mounts, for mount specs. please go to the link and get back to me ASAP, need new shox. :shrug::scratchhead:

  4. on the train of thought of 87pathy, my drivers ed teacher owned a really old old car off the factory back in the day, he was getting 40mpg with a 4L v6 or something close to that, and they took it to the dealer to get it looked @, and they recalled the carb, and then he got 18mpg @ best... Its a scam.

    Ill be making the exact same trek tomorrow, so ill def keep a close eye on my mpg for ya :)

    Thanx yeah keep up to date.

  5. remember, 460 is just the price for the base bumper. once you add some extra stuff on it is almost worth it to just get an ARB

    But what KMA makes that ARB doesn't is a rear bumper that you can customize to your liking. Its under the Mult-Carrie Bumpers section of the link I sent. Plus with their front bumper's raise up along the sides to increase ground clearance and a much more aggressive look. :itsallgood:WiPathCorner-412x331.jpg

  6. Is there any possible way to remove the exhaust sensor so the engine doesn't run crappy? I was thinking of getting pacesetter headers, getting a flowmaster welded on either side, and having it dump right behind the front doors, like what you see on Landcuisers sometimes. I want to do something new with my exhaust, something that not alot (if any) have. And since I don't do much city driving, or rock crawling... I don't think that exhaust fumes in the cab would be anything to worry about really. Anyone care to chime in with their thoughts?

    My advice is to go with Doug Thorley Header's instead of Pacesetter. I heard on another forum that Pacesetter's were prone to either cracking under pressure and/or rusting. With Thorley's you get what you pay for. :beer::itsallgood:

  7. I'm not saying you shouldn't, I had even considered a double sway bar not to long ago.

    The reason I suggested shocks is based on my experience; being 3" lifted and only a stock rear swaybar all my swaying complaints ended when I installed rancho 9000's & my panhard drop. I take on-ramps @ 45-55 mph depending on the curve and can do 90deg small intersection turns @ 25-30 mph(faster for larger intersections) and it feels fine. These aren't race cars but they still seem pretty nimble to me compared to other rigs I've driven.

    Wait, the sway bar I'm referencing to is the front sway bar, granted my shocks are due to be changed and will probably get bilstein Sport Shocks, because I'm still running OEM height right now and probably will get a Calmini lift kit with either Fox Racing Shocks(simply because I live in the town their located at) or a different brand shock absorber company later this year or the next. But you don't know of any companies that make the front sway bar for the WD21 Pathfinder do you?:friday:

  8. I am in the school of thought that some power improvements; rebuilds, mild cams, headders & displacement increase (not turbos, agressive cams, injectors, nos etc) can go either way with mpg. If it has more power and you use more power it gets worse but if it has more power and you don't then it does not have to work as hard to acheve the same speeds as an unmodified engine. This is how a full bolt on N/A 5.7L LS1(my buddies) Can get 27 mpg on the higway and maybe about 11 if he spends a weeked @ the drag strip. And stock I belive those #'s were more like 23 & 14.

    8222 is the coil MSD specifically reccomened me for the pathfinder @ 45k volts it may be a little hot for the transistor unless you use their resistor card(which they reccomended). but I'm going to get the 8222 coil when I get my MSD igition box so no card will be needed. then my mpg should go back up again.

    I had to deal with the same design with Nology's M70 Ignition and it fried my ignition wires, so 8222 is the same thing. But if you look at the 8228 Dodge Late Model while running at 40k volts it will be a direct plug-n-play unit while bolt up without any problems. But I just sent a message to MSD Ignition to confirm a problem free issue with 8228 coil.:crossedwires:

    MSD Ignition 8228

    8228_full.jpg

    Which would people go with without cutting the stock Ignition wires, not being a punk, but hey its obvious and its a simple question. :itsallgood:

  9. running a bigger coil made an MPG improvement for me, It also burned my transistor becase it was too hot(55k volts vs stock 28k?). But an oem 240z coil (32k?) runs off the same transitor and may net some impovement. I don't know if the 300zx coil is hotter or not.

    I went back to the stock coil @ the same time I installed and electric fan. Since my MPG stayed the same I possitive the electric fan provided the same increase in MPG as the Coil had previously.

    Keep a good tune up, plugs wires, cap, rotor timing.

    Seafoam may or may not help depending on how much then engine may have needed it.

    The thorelys helped waste gass when I first got them but now that I'm over the thrill and not as heavy on the gass I think they have iproved MPG.

    Well at one point I did have Nology ProFire M70 Ignition Coil (note do not get one do to poor design), but I had to remove it because one you have to cut the stock ignition wire from the clip to the stock coil to use them on the Nology Ignition Coil, two upon doing so resulted in frying the ignition coil wires and my O2 Sensor was blown out thanx to the ECU running a trouble shoot to find the Ignition, by doing that it pumped more fuel out of the injectors for a split second and upon igniting it also blow a hole in my Catalytic Converter. So yeah, don't do that no more. I might consider getting an MSD Ignition Coil Part No. 8228, even though it's meant for a Dodge I've heard others have used it in Pathfinders. :headwall::crossedwires:

  10. i think the reason some of us get decent mpg, is cause...well...they are SLOW...

    I know that i personally drive totally different between the pathy and my malibu, simply because its an old slow truck, and it doesn't like it to get pushed hard...

    Maybe cause you had yours rebuilt, its getting more power, and therefore getting worse mileage?

    That's true, but I'm going still talk it over with the mechanic who rebuilt the engine and see if the fuel mixture could be too rich, because I know when its warming up it has a nasty smell of fuel coming from both engine bay and the tail pipe. Almost to the point that there's excess fuel not being burned in the cylinders, how ever I have yet to have a back fire. Don't know. :scratchhead::FartExplode-vi:

  11. Tires, gears,driving style,there are a LOT of different factors

    To narrow it down I'm running stock 4.10 gears, 235/75R15 Yokohama HT-S Tires on stock OEM Aluminum Wheels, a Jim Wolf Cold Air Intake, new fuel injectors from rebuild, Doug Thorley Ceramic Coated Headers and a Flowmaster Two-Chamber Cat-Back Exhaust that is 2.5" piping from the headers back. Granted the gear ratio is a little on the low side so it might be part of it. :rant2::shrug::headwall::scratchhead:

  12. As the TM/Calmini lifts are completely different, you can use both, AND a BL to get a total of 10" of lift...but i don't think ive heard of anyone doing it...

    But what you gotta think of, is the only thing that really increases your clearance is the tire size, and running anything over 33's or 34's on anything that needs to be reliable, with IFS, is kinda risky....

    And, the TM lift doesn't increase your clearance of alot of snag points, ie torsion bars, and anything else it drops...

    Another thing to think about, is $$, if you buy the entire calmini kit, thats 1000, plus the steering setup, thats 600, plus the TM kit, thats 1000....2600 bucks is alot of money....

    And don't forget, these two kits specialize in lifting the FRONT, but when you go to look @ the back, to utilize the 7" of lift, you will need to find springs that will lift it enough, plus probably get rid of the sway bars, and get a custom panhard bar drop, extend all your brake lines, and im not sure, but maybe have to modify the control arms and/or driveline, depending....And to really utilize all this lift, you will need special back shocks, which won't come with either kit...

    This will render the following parts useless from either kit (im my logic is correct)

    Rear shocks

    Panhard bar drop

    Rear Brakeline extensions

    Rear Springs/Spacers (unless you WANT to use the TM spacers)

    But, hey, thats just my .02, i'd much rather go for 3+3=33's with a mismatched sl, but im rather cheap ;)

    Good point, I'll probably just go with the Calmini SL and 3" BL and upgrade the steering to compensate wider rims and larger tires. Thanks everyone. :goodpost:
