For a dual battery set up would upgrading the alternator be nessarery?
-
Yeah I am wondering if adding a lift would be nessasery. They look cool but is it vital? I am getting better tires like what precise posted a few days ago.

Ok, so like the majority of people in this forum I own a pathfinder. I’ am not some extreme survivalist but, I have learned from disasters like Katrina and other national disasters that you need a plan, rig and have gear ready just in case to keep you, your family and friends safe. I've designated my pathfinder as my SHTF or bug out vehicle. I have a bone stock pathfinder that I plan on upgrading, and several defense options. What are some of your set ups?

attn 90-95 WD21 users: what kind of gas do you use?
Drunkencat replied to ajspath's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I use 92 octane in all of my vehicles. The rig seems to run better and what is an extra $2 a tank. -
I am in the market for new rims and tires. The guy who owned my pathfinder before me put a set of Xterra rims and tires on it. I like how the Xterra rims look but the off set if off I think since the tires rub on u-turns.
-
I like the look of those rims and tires. Is your pathfinder stock height? If not, do you have any issues with them rubbin?

If he wanted an Escalade why didn't he buy one? -
Great write up. I just did one a couple of days ago.

Do you have any pics of that? It sounds like something I might do with my 94.

Day one of trany removal. I have a couple of questions.
Drunkencat replied to Drunkencat's topic in The Garage
Maybe I named it wrong. It is on the passengers side of the transmission on the side. It has 3 wires coming from it going up to the floor board. I was able to remove a small just over a quarter size piece of metal that showed the 3 wires. This looks like a back side of a 90 deg wall plug with metal plate. I assumed its the speed sensor or speed cable. Not sure. -
Well day one of trans removal. I have a 1994 pathfinder 4X4 with a VG30e engine and a bad auto trany. I've been using a lift, which has made the job alot easier. I got pretty much everything takin off but I am having problems getting at the torque converter bolts to remove them and removing the speedo sensor. I've done some searching on both and can only find a write up on how to remove a starter which I think will give me good access to the torque converter bolts. However, I am having problems removing the speedo sensor. I am afraid if I try to pull off the speedo sensor it will break it. Any suggestions on the speedo sensor removal or removal of the torque converter bolts?

Automatic transmission information for a 94 pathfinder LE

Fortuantely, I have a very good relationship with my mechanic. There are months where I work so much that if I have car problems I drop my cars off (corvette, civic) and have him do the work. Other times I order big parts through him and I get his rate But, if you dont have that hook up the cost was $600 + tax with free local delivery. I've bought a motor from them and my friend who is a honda cert tech has bought many motors from them with out any problems. The place is called Foreign Engines out of Lynnwood, Wa here is there web site http://www.foreignengines.com/ -
Automatic transmission information for a 94 pathfinder LE
Drunkencat replied to Drunkencat's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
My pathfinder is a 4wd automatic trans. Its a VG30e I believe. I've called up a place around here called foreign engines. I've used them before in the past for those JDM (30k to 50k) motors for my hondas. They can send me a complete trans, torque converter, and transfer case for $450 delivered. I think I'll go that route unless someone here has a bad experiences with those JDM trans. I figure I'll do a trans flush and replace the ATF and install a trans cooler. Any other suggestion or advice for the install/removal? I've already DL the FSM and printed out the trans removal and installation guide along with the referals. -

I think may just leave a dead horse lay. I'll go to the pull a part and get another one. Maybe later I'll spend the grand to get one rebuilt with a shift kit. -

Thank for the information. I've had a hell of a time find information for the pathfinder. I'am glad that I found this forum. I think since I can get a used junk yard tranny for $60 I'll buy that one to get my rig up and running and then rebuild the current one. I've never re built a tranny before, maybe this is the time to give it a shot. I'll search this forum to see if there is a write up on how to do that. I'd love to put a shift kit in it. I got one in my corvette and I love it. -

Hey guys I am new to pathfinders and this forum. I've been looking around for a transmission and I am not sure what years part fit. I've checked ebay and found one auction that said 90-95. Is that true? Are there other vehicles like the pickup or infinity trans that will work? I just got this 94 pathfinder and it has a bad trans and I got it for $450. Everything else is in very excellent condition. I've found three trans at the local wrecking yard. I've found a 90,91, and 93. Will those fit? Also, should I install a after market trans cooler during this installation or can I wait?
