  1. Great, Thanks for the info. I am starting to suspect that it might be a bad cat converter too.
  2. I have a 92' pathy with about 220k on it and I decided to put this high mileage 10-40 mobil one in during an oil change. Now I do notice a pretty big decrease in gas mileage. I'm not sure if its just coincidence of my car getting old or if the -40 weight is too heavy for the older engine. And yes I know a lot of people look down on using synthetic in older cars, but it so far has been working out for me.
  3. The codes won't tell you squat if your check engine light hasn't come on. In regard to the possible fuel leak, go to Harbor freight and get a fuel pressure gauge. They run about $20 bucks and will tell you if you have a fuel pressure problem.
  4. You probably have a leak in your fuel lines. I had a similar problem, not with the MPG, but with the fuel smell. It can smell like its coming from anywere when you are driving. I found my leak on the rubber lines near the fuel filter.
  5. Well according to the factory service manual, it could also be a problem with you fuel regulator. I have had similar problems when the vacuum hose from the regulator cracked.
  6. hmm well I think I figured out the problem. After replacing my plugs I noticed that a vacuum line next to the 6th cylinder had come out. Well it just so happens that this particular line controls vacuum to the fuel regulator. Problem solved, kinda. I'm still getting a little roughness in idle, with a touch out rattling around my headers...lovely. Probably a different problem.
  7. Hmm well I replaced those two about 5 months ago. Maybe they are lose?
  8. I have a 92 Pathfinder and today after I had to replace some defective spark plug wires, I notice that my Idle is rough and fluctuating. This wasn't the case with the old wires which were defective. I'm thinking maybe I put too much di-electric grease on the boots? Could it be something else and just bad timing? Its weird the idle will be fine, then it will start going up and down for no reason.
  9. That's a negative, unless autozone sold me the wrong resistor which matches up perfectly with my connectors.
  10. I checked, nothing. Its weird, it will work fine with the key in on, no engine running, but after like 5 min with the engine on it blows. Someone told me that its probably the ECU, which I hope isn't the case.
  11. I have a 92 pathfinder and so far in the past month, I have managed to go through 3 blower motors. I have already replaced the resistor, which by the way had a nice bird's nest in the evap core. Could something else be at play here? Maybe the thermal control unit is bad as well. I haven't really heard of blower motors going out after you replace the resistor.
  12. I completely agreed with that guy. It sounds like the o2 sensor. Try unplugging your o2 sensor and drive around for a bit. This will default the computer back to open mode. If you notice a difference, then o2 sensor for sure.
  13. So that red crap that Valvoline sells should be cool? I just don't wanta F-up my 4x4 hubs.
  14. So its kinda interesting, according to the schematics, the 4x4 hubs don't actually have in wheel bearings in them? So what do I pack the grease into?
  15. What would be the best bearing grease to use on auto hubs for a 92' 4x4? It seems like so many people have a stance on this. I'm sure standard red stuff will do the job, but I'd figure some input would help me from screwing up the hubs.
  16. Good to know, however I don't think my power steering has ATF fluid in it.
  17. I have a 92 pathfinder with 213,000 miles and was wondering, is it necessary to flush out the old power steering fluid once in a while? The second part is how hard is it to flush? I've read forums that say all you have to do is disconnect the reservoir and run your engine. This doesn't sound like a good idea.
  18. So should I not be running a blue relay in the fuel pump spot? Is there going to be a possibility of an under/over volt?
  19. Yea I think it was the fuel relay. I switched it out with the blue 4 pin for my a/c, since that doesn't work. I'm assuming that the only thing that is different with the relays is the color.
  20. I have a 92 pathfinder and lately the fuel pump keeps running for about 30-45 seconds after I turn off the engine. Is this a result of a leak in the lines or a faulty fuel regulator? I haven't done a pressure check yet but am assuming that's probably the next step.
  21. Hmm that's a good point, however it was working fine before I had blower motor issues. The weird thing is the fuse for a/c is intact. I hope the charge is good as we all know how fun it is to find R-12.
  22. I have a 1992 pathfinder and after my blower motor went out, the a/c refuses to come on. I'm thinking its not the switch because the light comes on, but no compressor start. I have narrowed the problem down to a blown relay. Unfortunately I can't find it. Any help would be appreciated.
