  1. oops! Silly bugger, I forgot the link. here it is, http://www.high-tec-retreading.com/
  2. Got this link from the sclr.org site. They sound pretty good for the price. ( I was on the Landy site cos I am thinking of getting a Disco!!! Arrrggghhhh. I will keep the Pathy for a while so I have something to tow the Disco to the mechanics each week!!)
  3. I am a bit confused about which fluids to use in 'auto. tranny' & 'power steering.' Is Dexron III ok for them both? or is there some special Nissan fluid I need. What do others use? Thanks for any help.
  4. My diff drain plug seems to stick out quite a bit, see photo. Are they all the same? I am a bit concerned about banging on rocks in Death Valley next w/end. Has this ever happened to anyone? It's in nice and tight.
  5. Got this from Miatanet. Don't think I will be buying one of these!! http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=154707
  6. I need to put a power supply (cigarette lighter type) in the sidepanel of rear storage area. Any one know where I can wire it in (to be live/hot all of the time ie. even with igntn. off), or do I need to wire it to fuse box/battery. Thanks for any help.
  7. I am about to get a scooter for commuting to work. I only have to commute 15 miles per day but parking is a pain also. Looking at Yamaha Zuma or Piaggio Typhoon (- 70 mpg +). Keep the Pathy for rainy days and weekends / trips. Of course we have mild winters, may not be good for you guys in the snow belt!
  8. Interesting article - especially as I am getting mine replaced on Friday, belt has only done 42000 miles but I'm getting a rattling noise and my mechanic says the belt has stretched - probably due to getting oil on it because the oil seals were not replaced last time (I have bad oil leak and looking at the service history they have never been done - nor has the water pump!), car has 160,000 miles!
  9. 93 Pathfinder & 2000 Mazda Miata, something for each end of the spectrum! (will soon add a Yamaha Zuma scooter!)
  10. I nearly always have to jiggle the trani. shifter a little bit in park and there is a click, then the key comes out easy.
  11. Thanks for the replies so far. I will try the ground idea. As far as the 'diesel' noise, it is not the exhaust. It's more of a rattle that comes from front/top of motor, (what do failing water pumps sound like?) I will change the brake rotors asap. Deciding whether to do it myself or not, (I have done brake pads but this has the hub/grease work also.) When I said 'rotor cap and arm' I meant 'distibuter cap & rotor'
  12. Have been pocking around my recently aquired 92 with 160,000 miles, and have a few q's, 1/ how long dous a rotor arm and rotor cap last for. 2/ I have replaced the belts and noticed the engine sounds like a diesel (wish it was!) when warm & idling, I am wondering if it is the belt tension pulley as it has a bit of play in it, how long do these usually last. 3/ I have replaced tape/radio with a Sony cd/radio but am now getting bad reception/interference when on AM frequency, engine interference that goes up a & down with revs. Is there a filter/suppressor needed. 4/ I an due for a front brake job as I get squeels & pulsating. I noticed the front rotors have some hairline cracks, can this be machined out or are the history - (they may be the originals!) Thanks for any help.
