  1. Well in all honesty, a few people ask an opinion and then when they don't like it they go off the hook.

I don't think it looks all that bad. Well, it looks flat out gay. Pretty rinky dinky. But something about a brush guard on an Infiniti kinda rubs me the wrong way ;)

Yeah well you're just a dick! :owned: J/K Everyone's got their opinion and that's what I'm here to find out. Personally I like the look but I'm mainly looking at buying one to add a little weight to my en route OME HD springs and have no reason to purchase a $1K bumper.

  2. So I've got an 01 QX4 2WD no bumper/winch. I've got the OME HD setup on it's way and was thinking because of the lack of front differential that the front will sit level with the back without a strut spacer. So is installing strut spacers and doing the bump stop trick for the rear springs to achieve a 3" lift a good idea or not? What is the disadvantage of a 3" lift over a 2"?

    Thanks!

  3. A really cheap way of doing this and still get the same effect, although probably not as bright, is to get a piece of lighting gel....its a thin paper like film of color, put it anywhere where light shines through, I've put it in my interior lights and map lights....even behind my turn signals....I will eventually do the same with mine, and change all my interior lights with LED's too, but I'm still working on my Lift Parts!

As you stated you will lose a lot of light with party gels or CTB(color temperature blue). When I first replaced my clock light with dealer supplied parts each bulb was a freaking $28 and it's nothing but a small tungsten filament bulb on a base with a blue color correcting cover. The led replacements I bought were a whopping $1.79/ea and each of the four climate control led's were only $1.25/ea. The last Lee Filter sheet I bought was $6.50.

  4. Hmm. Is the clock an Infiniti thing, like the Qx4 having more bulbs than the Pathfinder ? The clock I unscrewed definitely didn't have any LEDs in it. I was really disappointed about that. :(

I'm pretty sure the clock is exclusive to the QX4's, you've got a digital clock in your Pathy right? Does the QX4 have more bulbs just in the instrument cluster? Here's what the back of mine looks like:

  5. *my "vocabulary" is so small* spring compressors. i was doing my rears and the spring compressor finally broke and let go, luckily the spring was already positioned in place so it just shot right into the groove where it belonged!!! That was the cherry on top of breaking the bumpstop bolt, boy was i happy to toss those spring compressors into the GARBAGE where they belong

Wow you got lucky, how the #@&% did it break?? Those things are ticking bombs and scared the sh!t outta me when I was messing with them.

I just got an email from Steven @ Rugged Rocks, the 922's are back ordered till May 5th, I'm bummed!

  6. if you add the spacers AFTER everything is put together its like a 1-2 hour job. all you have to do is remove the entire strut/spring assembly, pound out the stock bolts, and put it back together with the spacers on there plus longer bolts.

way easier than changing out a spring (which you are lucky is already done for you, if you buy from Tyler)!!!

Tyler should be shipping those out in the next few days :fireworx:

Last year my buddy and I changed out my shocks and struts and had to deal with the springs. That was a pain in the ass for the first side, I think it took about 4 hours. Once we figured out the passenger's side and the smoke cleared :cheetos: it only took us about 30min for the driver's side. We had no idea how to use the spring compressor but figured out that it's much easier if you let them do the work for you. :headwall:

  7. yes, actually it is. because the same springs will lift different trucks different amounts.

you drive a 2WD so the numbers are going to be different from FUELER's.

    search harder: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=7192

If searching harder means going through 11 pages then f-that. I think a search engine that brings up relevant posts opposed to entire threads would make things much easier and the board in general wouldn't have to answer the same question 10x.

  8. I really don't understand why everything says 0.5" and 0.75" lift springs. Is it really that difficult to give the proper dimensions? I'm going to order my 922's right now, woot woot!

Old skool! I love it! This is from when you had to buy a seperate unit to cross over frequencies!

Another way (old skool also) to get the highs out of your subwoofer amp is those RCA plug ins that block highs...I will try to find a name. They look like 50 cal bullet casings and plug in right to the amp or right to the deck, they come in different frequency block settings, however they are NOT adjustable.

That 4 channel bridges into dual single channels..it'll work fine. Its only downfall is that it may not hae been designed to push current like that for long periods of time...but a name brand amp will make it for years.

Anybody remember the old PPI Art series?? Most of those got ran in this fashion...te he he and most of them didn't have freq. filters either!! ( I still have a 2 channel and a 4 channel and am still using them!)

edit: found them! Still out there made by Harrison "F-MODs"

I totally remember those, they were huge and super overpriced. I think back then you payed about $2/watt right? I've got my old Crossfire 402 sitting at my shop, still works like a champ!

  10. could it be to the hood pin switch, (the rubber thing on the right) ????

    Is that for the Alarm?

    Billy

[EDIT] That's what it is! You see the electrical tape that I'm using to hold it up with? That's formerly what kept it in place, needless to say the clip is broken. So what does it do now that it's connected?

  11. As everyone else stated check to see if your headunit has a sub pre-out. If it does it also has a HPF (High Pass Frequency) crossover built into it which gives you the ability to choose what frequencies are fed to your door speakers. When you bridge that 4 channel amp you might be outputting the wrong resistance to your sub box. You might have to rewire the subs to series, parallel, or series/parallel in order to get everything correct.

One question, why on earth would you put 2x12's in a 3000GT? That thing must have rattled like a mofo! At least when a dude drives by and his ride ride sounds like an empty salt shaker from a seafood restaurant you get a good laugh out of it.

  12. 2WD? Hmmm...this would have been nice for Fueler to know in the begining of this topic.

So, since you do not have the limiting factor of the CV axles, you can jack that thing up. Too high and then you have your drive shaft to worry about (about 5~6" if I remember from what Alex was telling me with his SFD).

Now, the question I have is why do you want HD springs if your only 2WD? These springs are recomended only for Pathy's with a bumper and winch up front, and thats with 4WD, meaning theres all those components up there, too, adding weight. With 2WD stock, you'd feel like your on steel rods. Just wondering.

    Jose

I'm sure Fueler appreciates you coming to his defense, FYI I thought that he had already known it was only 2WD.

The reason why I'm thinking the HD springs is because they just seemed to be the top choice and I had no idea that everyone with HD springs had winches and bumpers on the front. I've been waiting for a few days to get a reply from OME on which springs and part numbers they recommend for my setup. I left them a voicemail last week to with no reply, at this point I'm kind of over them due to their poor customer service.

  13. the front axles are at an angle... the taller you make the suspension, the more of an angle u got at the axle at, which is THE major limiting factor in our front suspension. You get that angle too far and the axles will bind and snap, leaving you stranded (you would not be stranded if you have freewheeling hubs installed)

So what would cause them to hit that maximum angle? Too much travel? If you're only light wheeling is this an issue and would warn hubs help if it's only 2WD?

the only thing gonna be hog tied in my hood, is gonna be ur girl :new576: hhahaha

Hey if you can get a gag on her then by any means have at it! Hell, I'll even help you! LOL

dude its raining here right now. is it raining in LA?

I got a little on the ride home from work around 5 and then it started to really come down about 7. It's moving south so you're probably getting the tail end of it. Weird weather patterns we've have this year but supposedly we're right on track with our average rainfall. My buddy and I are hoping it's over because we're taking his supped up Shebly GT500 to the Irwindale track to drag this tool in a new Nissan GTR. I'm not a big fan of mustangs but his ride is insane. He's upgraded above all of the factory Shelby suspension, wheels, tires, supercharger, Mass Air Flow Meter, Intake, engine stabilizers, and a ton of other stuff I can't remember, sh!ts nuts. He's also got an 05 Cobra with slicks that's pushing 575BHP.

  14. it all depends. most people would underestimate the mileage and also you dont know how they were treated.

HOWEVER if youre talking about the set that Tmorgan in Colorado, has for sale, i'd jump on that deal. He's very trustworthy and i vouch for him 100%

Sweet! So if they're jacked up I'm driving my limped-ass QX4 down to SD and post you up hog tied and naked in front of typhoon saloon! LOL BTW I used to spend 4-5 days a week down there surfing and partying, I did that for about 5 years.

  15. you dont need to, right away... but would it offroad better? probably... the only 2" longer rear shocks that i know of, are the Rancho 9000 (4x4parts.com) which arent even meant for this car and i read reports that the bolts dont fit without drilling them out

and theres no longer struts for the front... spacer would drop it down in a similar fashion but you know the whole CV axle schpeel

So would you buy the used GR2's w/OME HD springs? And to be honest I don't know much about the CV Axle schpeel, consider me an offroad newb but I'm trying to learn. Thanks brutha!
