  1. Nissan should file a case against the judge himself and his judgement

    - The government sets the acceptable safety standards , so why not sue the government ?

    - Who forced Mrs Perdue to buy a pathfinder ? if the collision was so strong mayeb she should be thankfull the pthfinder din't turn over

    - The article is written in such a bias way "Mrs. Perdue will never walk normally again, but fights through the pain of each step she takes," they said, adding she still has screws, plates and rods in her leg and ankles., damn it this happens to any one who breaks a bone

My mom fell on the stairs and now has screws in her ankle , maybe I should file a case against the engineers and contractors who built the building and the factory who cut the stones

Sometimes I think in our third world where I am living we still have some advantages over the advanced worlds

It just frustrated me to read this article

  2. Sand: I agree. Snow, why? Mud, why? We all have 4low. Hill climbs, why? We all have 4low.

Snow when you are climbing a snow hill sometimes you need sprint instead of crawling it , and you need to go on 4wh , instead of 4wdl

Same goes for hill climbs ( long hills ) where at the peak of the hill the WD might loose speed and lose momentum while the R50 will have enough power to get it thru

For Mud the faster your run is the lesser your chances are to get stuck

The R50 will accelerate much faster than the WD which gives it the advantage where sprint is needed specially where you don’t have enough space to run and gain the speed before tackling any of the above mentioned obstacles .

Having said that my preference in offroad will still be for crawling rocks and crossing ditches wherethe R50 is disadvantaged.

  3. HOW exactly will an R50 out perfom a WD?

What situation for situation for situation/fact for fact can you attest to that proves this?

In cases where you need sprint , sand dunes , snow , mud , hill climbs ... R50 will have the advantage

that would be interesting, seeing as the r 50 has more power i could see sand and snow....

but i live in az. rocks and ditches it is! and i've never had a problem in sand aka as a washes.

True as i already said in ditches and rocks the wd will have the advantage .

  4. you can get the H3 with a 320hp V8 and front/rear lockers (Alpha model with Adventure Package). it will easily outperform an R50.

Not intending to go offtopic , you can order the H3 with anything you want and it will still be overweighted , oversized and not worth the money spent on it both on road and offroad .

  5. that wasn't the point... the point was you're saying an r50 could outwheel a wd just the way a h3 could a h1...

both of which or completely false.

As bigred07 explained that's the point , and not to compare an H3 with an R50 which are both form different categories .

The R50 will outperform any wd in the desert and in some snowy conditions , while the wd will outperform the R50 on rocks and ditches .

I personally would love to put a challenge between an R50 and a WD on different offroad sections and compare stock to stock offcourse .

  6. Glad to watch this video , welcome back mr jim .

NPORA prooved to be a very special community , congrats to all and specially to those who took the intitiative and put their time and effort to make it happen .

  7. My springs really dont sag at all, I just thought it might give me a little extra room with the strut spacer. I dont do a ton of off-roading so im going to go with BF Goodrich all-terrain ta's. Ive run these tires before and you can beat them in the snow and ice, I live in Buffalo, Ny so we get a good amount of snow.

If you are going with 255 i suggest you dont use the spacers , keep you suspesion original

  8. Do you think the strut spacer will give me any more clearance to run the 245/75/16? Or just play it save wtih 255/70/16 its only .4 of an inch difference bigger wont make much of a difference.

With one inch lift , have 265 / 75 / R16 you will need to remove the mud gurds and you are ok may rub a bit on full turn but who cares , that is if you do not go offrod and flex ur paty .

If you offroad it then you are in problem on flex my 265's touched the bumper and movewd it out of its place .

Choice is yours if you want to risk it or not .

  9. The argument is long on this one but hey I have to step in for the R50

I have owned several offroad purpose built vehicles and offroaded them starting from the FJ 40 – FJ60 the new FJ , 4 runner , G wagon

When I first bought Paty it was for my wife for her daily driving and now that I took over Paty and drove her first time over offroad she has become my daily driver and offroader .

To tell a few of what and where I have gone with my R50 and where my opinion about her is coming from :

    - On road : I have driven paty for a 2250 km stretch drive non stop the engine was never switched off all the way from Qatar to Lebanon with a speed reaching 180 – 190 km in Saudi open roads and I was quite pleased with her performance , 26 hrs the engine is running we started from desert weather in Qatar and end up in the snowy weather in Lebanon

I also drive her on daily basis for my work and a lot f city driving , she handles like a sports car on the city roads .

    - Off road : I have driven her over sand dunes , rocks , mud and snow and I was always keeping up yet sometimes leading the way for X terras , LC 100 , Wranglers , 4 runners , H3 , Nativa , Frontier , Patrol , Fortuner …. u name it

I have put my R50 into every kind of terrain on offroad and travelled across borders as well as city driving and one word I can say I am delighted with her performance .

When comparing price vs quality Paty stands out .

Mods : I have my 2”lift and I can tell the difference already , and all what I need now is an ARB locker to make up for the open diffs in the mountain areas when needed .

I consider my R50 and all purpose vehicle .

When I am on road I will still enjoy the way Paty handles the road like a sports car .

When offroad I am glad to know I will be driving among other rigs whom have to compensate their ride comfort and performance on the road to gain a bit of advantage over my Paty in offroad .

The driver has a big impact and so does the vehicle , one will complete the other .

We have a lot of examples on this board to prove how reliable and capable the R50 is , just have to browse a bit

R 50 vs other Nissans ( Patrol / X terra / R51 ) , with no offense to any other product , they are still great cars

    - R50 vs Patrol : I have enough space inside my cab not to use a patrol and my consumption is less , my ride is more comfortable and I have much less weight to carry , my wheel base is better for offroad

    - R50 vs X terra : I prefer my coil springs to the leaf springs , I prefer my manual auxiliary gear shift to the X electrical gear shift ( in more than one case the 4wd gets disconnected mainly when on sand dunes ) , my 3.5 l engine provides me with enough power that I need for my on road and offroad driving , I trust the reliability of Japanese product more than the American one

    - R50 vs R51 : wont ever trade my solid axle with independent suspension , I have much better approach and departure angles , I trust the reliability of Japanese product more than the American one , I can less for loads of electronics , my 3.5 l engine provides me with enough power that I need for my on road and offroad driving , I am more light weighted and I don’t need to have 7 seats , I don’t look like wana be an armada

I spoke my mind towards the R50 , sorry for the long write up but I have a lot to tell about my R50

  10. If I was in your shoes i wouldn't hesitate spending the money on her specially after serving you all these km without letting you down .

And she is good looking too , as the others said too spend a little more and have her lifted .

When i first did my OME lift i didn't think there was much of a difference , but then when i drove it offroad i felt the difference specially that i have no lockers .

  11. Sorry to hear Bud. Like you said though, she is just being relegated to other duties. At least you will still own her and be able to drive her at times. Rest easy knowing she is carrying your most valuable cargo...

    B

    In deed

Everything will be fine. Good luck, TheCrow!

I am sure it will be i look forward to offroad her on snow

You will see her again. Do you still have the G wagon? You will have to get it finished so you can wheel it instead, and we expect pics/vids

Yes Dave i still have the G wagon currently it is stripped to the bones , and getting prepared for a complete paint job and the seats are getting reworked i should be able to finish the cosmetics by 20 th of August .

Definitly i will be posting pictures and videos if the forum will allow for a non pathy posts .

So what were you guys doing in Qatar (which let me say is the only name/word that I've seen without a U right behind the Q) if you're from Lebanon? Just working, playing in the desert, or what?

Heheheh well the desert is nice but I am definitly not here to play in the desert ;) i prefer greenery and moutains and snow to dusty and hot weather .

I work in Qatar and that's why i am living there .

  12. Well since its prime objective is to prvide mobility to my wife and kids the R50 will be an excellent choice for them as daily driver and for me to hit the hills anytime i like hehehe

Glad you know about Lebanon and it's History it goes back to the Romans and ottomans ,,,, very rich in history hope to see you there at a time when i am there too

  13. Hello Fellow Pathydrivers

I will be separated from my beloved Paty for the first time since I got it out of the dealer shop in 2005

Paty will be away from me for the first time , I will surely miss her I am trusting her to transport my family back at home on our mountain roads and thru winter weather and snow as they will be temporary moving back to home till year end since we are getting blessed in September by another baby girl .

I am planning to modify her in Lebanon as resources are much more available than here in Qatar , and will be driving her during September in Lebanon so definitely will off-road her on mountain terrains different than the desert she is used to

In December will be driving her on snow during my vacation can’t wait for that .

Paty will remain in Lebanon to be used by relatives during our absence and by us when were back home for vacation .

I am sad she will no longer be my daily driver but and I would be looking forward to drive her during my vacations when i am back at home .

It is hard to be away from Paty even if I still own her so I can imagine Jim’s case and I hope we can finally get back his truck for him .

    Regards

  14. I'll up my donation from 20 to 100 bucks... Just let me know how to donate. I hope by this time we are in the range of around 2500 bucks... then probably 300 bucks can be made through selling of shirts/calendar/stickers, etc...
