  1. Smelled fuel yesterday then noticed a small spot on the driveway just in front of the rear wheel under the framerail.I got underneath with a rag and started wiping the lines down and found a pinhole leak. Now i know if its leaking in this spot its probably going to go in another spot soon.I was thinking for now do i dare try to cut that bit of bad line out and clamp a piece of rubber fuel line for a quick fix?Is it a big job to replace that entire line?Im thinking that once i start to handle that gas line for a splice job that its going to crack in another spot.Any thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Also i see that there are four lines stacked along the rail.My leaker was second from bottom i believe. Was wondering what they all carried?
  2. I hear what your saying Kittamaru,i thought the same way.Im working on reinforcing from underneath also. But to be honest once i got my carpeting ,underlay and floor mats back in and stompmed on the floorboard a bit it seemed fine.Mind you,the hole i had wasnt too bad and surrounding metal wasnt rotten.Time will tell.A proper fix is the way to go if you can cut and weld.
  3. I know i cant take credit for dreaming this up Simon.I saw it on a post awhile back...Kinda thought it was ingenius. My buddy just came buy and thought it was a great idea.
  4. Lol Slade...Use whatever is handy.I think i learned some of that from my Dad....always looking to improvise.HEY Marathon...not too far from me.Hows the job situation your way?
  5. Well..I cant believe i tried this.I found the infamous hole in floorbord in drivers well caused by exhaust pipe(baseball size).First i wirewheeled the floorpan then gave it a coat of rust inhibiting primer.I then cut out a cakepan bottom, heated it up a bit then tapped it into the contours of the floor, used red permatex high temp gasket maker and mounted it down(stainless 3/8" screws).Next is to get under it and get creative there along with making a shield for that pipe.Lets see how it works.I know the body guys and welders are shaking thier heads and i guess i cant blame them.Quit laughing!
  6. Have yet to see mine light up.I had below E a time or two.Maybe burnt out?
  7. Sorry...this is a great website and i dont want to cause any confusion...thanks for your reply in the WD forum.
  8. I removed mine last summer since the attached wiring was just barely hanging on.It was removed quite easily with a pair of channel lock pliers. After i cracked it loose(very easily) i just unscrewed it by hand via the wheel well(after removing front tire).Replacing was as simple as screwing it back on and snugging it up a tad.I then repaired the plug on the wire and just snapped it back on to the unit along with sheathing the wire. The oil filter was removed during the process. Was replacing my starter at the time.I guess using that socket would be the proper way to go though.
  9. In regards to your fuel gauge working intermittently i had a same problem with my 92 a couple years ago.The only difference was that my temp. gauge would drop off simeltaneously with the fuel. The problem turned out to be a small regulator attached to the back of my gauge cluster. The fix was just a matter of removing the cluster, snipping the wires, drilling a small hole into the existing bad regulator and then screwing the new one right on top of the old one. Solder the new wires to the old wires that attach to the dash gauge cluster terminals. The regulator #KA7808 was what i used for a replacment which was purchased at a local electronics shop for 3 bucks. When i gave them that regulator number they cross referenced it but unfortunately i dont know what that number was.I found the writeup for this fix on this site i believe which included photos. If i find it ill post. The square silver regulator shown in this pic is the original unit that is defective.I drilled a hole in it in order to mount the new regulator(small black unit with the 3 wires coming off it.

  11. Thanks for the info.Ive never seen banjo bolts before.Initially i thought i might need a special tool. Was looking under the hood tonight trying to figure out how im going to change this line and it looks to me like it might be a chore.Did you have to remove anything in order to make the job easier?

  14. Anyone ever change a power steering hose?I have a 92 4x4 auto with a leak on the high pressure hose off the power steering pump. Looks to me like its one assembly between the pump and steering box.Just wondering how hard of a job it is to replace. Thanks
