  1. Dude, I think that this is the same problem that you are having here:

    http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=14586.

One thing I would mention to check as well is the connection to the MAF sensor. It has been a culprit for many pathy owners on the board. Sometimes my pathy for no reason what so ever would idle very low and sound likes it wants to shut off, kind of like a lawn mower too. I press down on the harness and it idles back to normal.

  2. Whoa... your other post said the belt was just 2 teeth off, now this one says broken cam?

Maybe you ought to take a minute and do some root cause analysis and find out what really happened.

With time, you will find that the pathfinder is actually one of the toughest, most reliable vehicles ever made. Almost as durable as old 4-banger Toyota PU's but with a lot more power, comfort, and better handling.

I agree with MWS here, I would really recommend for you to find out what is going on with your truck. Do us a favor, first find out what is really going on with the truck before you start spending money on things that you don't need. If a broken cam would have been the problem, then you should hear some really weird engine noise coming from the heads. If the tensioner is borken, get it fixed and TDC'd, hopefully this should fix your problem. Bad timing would cause your truck to either run sluggish or with more power, trust me I know. I had a problem with the timing when i was replacing the rotor in the dist...long story. I accidentally moved the timing on it and it made my truck feel alot more peppier, sadly it couldn't go past 50 mph. Got it TDC'd and problem was gone.

  3. those seem a little high. try autozone. cv boots are like $12 ea.; bj's are 20-25 ea; i don't recall the tre's but if that's the price for all 4 then that's not too bad.

    4 all 4 boots, about $70.00, from autozone: http://www.autozone.com/N,11200025//shoppi...peResultSet.htm

    both lower bjs $70.00:

    http://www.autozone.com/N,14600206//shoppi...peResultSet.htm

    Yup 4 tre's are $100.00:

  4. dam SS, you must have a lot of time on your hands, I only wish I could do all of that in a weekend :) , yet those are all good suggestions

Not really, I have only done a few out of what I listed

  5. Oh man, I'm planning on replacing uppers, lower, cv boots (all 4 of em), brakes, tre's, tk1 mod, and alignment. Man this is gonna suck on the cost.

    already have the upper bj's

lifetime warranty on front disc brake

already have brake shoes for rear

    lower bj's $80.00

    cv boots $60.00

    tre's $100.00

and I'm still trying to calculate tk1.

  6. As far as the plugs are concerned, many would suggest changing every other oil change, but if you end up going with NGK's Iridium, like I did, I plan on keeping them for at least 6 months before changing out. I read somewhere that they have a life time replacement? Don't remember. Wire set, has been recommended to be changed every year.

Things i would suggest to change in order to have good fuel economy:

    PCV valve

    O2 sensor

    plugs

    wire set

    air filter

    gas filter

    clean throttle body

    clean MAF sensor

    change oil

use a good fuel injector cleaner

if you haven't done so, or don't remember when it was last replaced, change timing belt

    thermostat

    radiator hoses

upper bypass valve, look next to the distributor

cap and rotor replacement for distributor

    keep tires properly inflated

    change tranny fluid and filter.

I think that this is pretty much it.

  7. In the front of the pathy, where the lower a arms connect to the cross member, there are 2 bolts on each side that need to be re tourqued so the popping would stop. I can't remember what ft/lb you need to re tourque again.

  8. VG30DETT's have slightly different motor mounts and HUGE DOHC Heads and an even more Rediculous intake manifold. I'll have to do a little research and see if I can use the bottom end off the TT at least. I'll dink around with it when I get everything out in the next couple weeks.

Cool, let us know what you can come up with if you can use the last TT's for VG30e. Once your done with it, post a write up.

  9. Well, I also switched batteries, my friend let me borrow his, hooked it up and it was fine at first and was a little hesitant to turn on, then she did and now it's not turning on what so ever. Not even a click coming from the ignition.

  10. Ok, so my problem started when I came home once, the pathy all of a sudden didn't want to start, like the battery was completely dead. Turned the ignition off, then on again and started with out hesitations. Then after a day it didn't want to crank. I got her jumped and she turned on, then while taking the jumper cables off, the pathy died. Jumped her again and went to run her for a few minutes so she can charge up, got back home and turned the ignition off, and on again and no start, so the battery was not even charged and was drained. Took off the alty to get it tested, was good. Starter was just replaced in february, but starts when jumped so it's not the starter. Battery is good. Cables are clean, terminals are ok, there's spark in the distributor. I got it jumped again and no start what so ever, but pos lead was kind of hot. When I was trying to make her start i heard the fuel pump relay making a buzzing noise, then i got inside the cabin area and could hear like some sort of short coming from the cargo area, which makes me think is the fuel pump. What else can I look for beside the fuel pump, too bad i don't have a voltmeter to check all the wiring, but I can't think of anything else that's draining my battery.

  11. I would ditto everyone else on what to do also. I had noisy belt for a while. I figured out that the bracket holding the tensioner to the alternator was kind of loose. I tightened the bracket and noisy belts was gone.

  12. Ok here is a list to compile a, "Where to buy" aftermarket parts and accessories. While this may not be an exhaustive list, any input is recommended and will be added for future reference. While I am well aware that there are a few members who may disagree with the value or integrity of some companies ***cough AC cough cough***, my intention is not to promote, but to inform, especially since there have been a lot of repeated posts about lifts, exhaust, etc.

Suspension Lifts, there are only a few companies that offer true suspension lifts for 86-95 pathy's:

Calmini offers a complete 3" suspension lift:

    http://www.purenissa.../wd21_3_kit.htm

Trailmaster offers a 4" lift: No longer Availible

    http://www.rockymoun...issan_early.htm

Automotive Customizers offer a wide variety of lifts for 86-04 pathy's:

UCA’s for those who prefer a cheaper alternative, here is a link. I’m not going to go into detail about coil springs cause that’s what the garage tech section is for:

    Superlift/Rough Country:

http://www.rockymoun...an_hardbody.htm Call to get a price on the UCA’s alone, unless you want shocks. Make sure you said it is for the hardbody, because they will not warrant the UCA’s

    Automotive Customizers:

https://www.4x4parts...arms-p-142.html again just call for quote on UCA’s 88 will not recommend this set of UCA’s, as well as many other memebers. Again just to inform.

    Calmini:

    Springs

    Superlift Bronco springs

Exhaust systems, while there may be a wide variety of tastes and styles due to the fact that proper sizing does matter for h/p and torque gains, but here is what has been recommended so far.

    Mufflers:

http://www.summitrac...rs/?Ns=Rank|Asc I’m gonna recommend Summit Racing, just because of the sheer amount of different type of mufflers available. Just remember to use 2.5 or 2.25 inch exhaust sizes.

Whew, this is what I came up with, if anyone has more input feel free to pm me or post it up and I will edit and repost. I am fully aware that I have mainly mentioned WD21’s here, but anyone who is more knowledgeable of R50’s, please input your info. Oh and just to let everyone know, Summit Racing has a "beat anyone's price guarentee" as long as you provide the advertised price.
