  1. I ordered my bolts from Nissan there are 4 different bolts and 4 bolts that are the same. I had mine installed for me... not something I would want to do myself. My mechanic said he won't do the job for less than eight hours because of how hard it was to get out the old bushings. He wasn't happy that he had agreed to do my springs and bushings for 5 hours and ended up charging me for six which I paid because I know how long it took him.
  2. I would check the upper and lower rear control arm bushings. I just replaced mine on my 97, and from pokeing around on this site I understand that its a pretty common problem.
  3. A few sugestions, someone else said this but if you do the exhaust you sould definetly get the better headers and do an intake. I would also upgrade the fuel pump and do a chip or reprogram to take advantage of the better airflow. I would also to a rear limited slip diff. As far as tires I realy like the Bridgestone REVO AT's that I'm running. I have 31x10.5 (not really sure if they offer 32 or 33") but they are a good multi purpose tire and pretty quiet on ther road. Also at 122k on the clock you should do a timeing belt. Good luck...
  4. It looks like you may have gotten a little more lift up front than I did. What size tires do you have on?
  5. Just listen for cliping in the speakers and keep the volume below that. Car audio is weird there really is no standard in terms of how manufactures list power output so the 200 watt rating on your receiver is not a very meaningful number. You will really notice a difference in sound quality by replacing your factory speakers. As you plan your system half of your total budget should be for speakers.
  6. Thanks...Yep they're 31's. I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out. I didn't realise how much of a difference the tire's and OME's made untill I pulled up next to a stock 97-98. I keep hopeing to catch this guy that goes to the dog pakr by me, he has a twin to my truck that is stock. I'd love to get some pic's of the two trucks side by side.
  7. I just put some pics up on my yahoo account.. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jdsshp/my_photos
  8. I'll check it out. I finally got some pics, just a few but you guys can check them out. http://photos.yahoo.com/jdsshp
  9. I talked to the wheel adapter guy he charges $65 per wheel... at that point I could almost just do new wheels...
  10. I sent Ac an e-mail after installing my OME's about the front ride height and they sugested using their 2" lift springs up front, I would be a little wary of how the truck would handle with different spring rates and amount of pre-load. But it should give a more even ride height. OME says that they set the ride height where it is because it limits stress on the rest of the drivetrain. I don't know who's right but the OME's really ride nice I'm very happy with the end result. I ended up paying $900 all together for the springs and bushings. I'm not sure how things itemized but when they do the bushings they should throw your new springs on for free in the rear and just charge you for the front. I found a local guy that was willing to work with me there's enough soccer moms around for him to make his money off of so he took care of me.
  11. I would make the bushings my first priority. Just have someone video you from behind going down the road and send it to your P's. They'll definetly pay for it or front you the money. I wouldn't do a six hour drive with those kayaks up top with the swaying going on.
  12. I'm running 31x10.50's on the stock 97 SE rims, I would like to find spacers to decrease tha backspaceing has anyone found anything that will bring out the wheels a bit and show off the tires?
  13. I ordered AC's poly bushings, they are getting installed tomorow morning. Beleive it or not but the new springs pretty much keep the swaying in control, I'm thinking the truck will be rock solid with the new bushings in. I'll get it dirty and take some pics.
  14. I'm running KYB dampeners all the way around I had just done the struts about 8 months ago. My whole reason for doing the springs was that I had to do the rear control arm bushings so I figured why not kill 2 birds with one stone. Of course the control arm bolts have to be cut off and I just got the replacement today, so much for saveing time on the install I couldn't wait to put the springs on. It is a firmer ride but not harsh at all. After I get the bushings in I'll go romp on it a little and let you know how it is in more detail.
  15. The truck does have new springs all the way around. It's not a large difference in height between the front and rear, probaly something nobody would notice on the road or trail but I can see about a 1/4 to 1/2" difference when it's in the garage. I ordered them from AC/4x4parts.com and they said that it was normal and about the same difference front to rear as when the truck was new. I looked at it today when my 2 dogs were loaded into the back and it was pretty much level. I almost did the 2" spring lift that they offer but I just replaced the rear shocks a few months ago and couldn't justify doing new ones for only about an inch more lift. At any rate I would recomend the OME springs my truck really rides great, I haven't done any mudding yet but it felt good on a rough fire road.
  16. Can't beleive it took me this long to find this place. I have a 97 SE 4X4 that I've been playing with a little. This is my 2nd pathy, my first was a 91 that I flipped and totaled. I do some minor off road stuff. I am a member of our local Search and Rescue group so my truck sees some action getting me and my dog out into the woods but not too much just for fun. I've had the 97 for three years now and really like the truck although it seemed easier to find stuff for the 91. I'm working on the suspension now and do need some help so please see my post in the 96 up section
  17. I just installed Old Man Emu springs on my 97 SE. They have given me about 1.5 inches of lift and really improved rice quality. The problem is that the front end is riding lower that the rear. How can I fix that and get a level ride height?
