  1. Curious...Nissan3- you didn't notice a difference aside form bumps? Going down the road/turning/etc still felt like a car?

Actually I can't really say no difference, It definitely gave it more of a truck like feel, but I didn't feel a dramatic difference in the ride.

  2. Here ya go...I actually posted this pic a few weeks ago.

    For the specs i did:

    1) HD up front and MD in back

    2) KYB GR2 all around

    3) I got 2.5" inches around but a trip up to the cottage with a crew and tons in the trunk settled it to 2" around. Only about 800km so far.

    4) No pop at all.

    5) I personally felt no difference, maybe a little stiffer on bumps

    6) Very satisfied with the choice.

    7) 16x9 ATX wheels 4.5" of backspace, 275/70 tires.

Awesome choice on the coils man you'll be very happy with them. Good luck with the build when it comes time.

  3. Have you just lifted the front? Glad the struts worked out for you.

Thanks man, Yeah I was glad too didn't want to have to go through the hassle of returning them. I did the rears as well, KYB's all around and the HD OME coils up front and MD in the back. Ended up getting 2.5" of lift all around!

  4. Well I got everything installed on friday, had a slight issue with the monroe mounts as the mechanic didn't use the provided spacers and so there was a gap between the nut and mount resulting in it clunking, just one thing to watch if you're looking to use the monroes. But got that fixed yesterday. The struts worked out perfectly just had to use a zip tie to hold down that abs sensor. But the pathy feels a heck of a lot better with the new shocks and OME coils. Hoping those monroe mounts and bearings will hold up!

  5. not to sound like a jerk, but it sounds like you just volunteered to be the first to tell us whether monroe is a dependable manufacturer for strut mounts. :itsallgood:

if you are worried... how difficult would it be for you to return the -030/-031 struts back to AutoPartsWay and get the correct -032/-033 struts?

I purchased mine (although 2001 Qx4) from Amazon.com and they are pretty cool about taking returns for the wrong parts ordered, let alone the free shipping! :jig:

yeah I'm really taking a chance with these monroes, but the shop I am using to install the coils and such say they're great and should last me, plus they were about 40 bucks cheaper a side then what my local nissan dealerships quoted me on OEM mount and bearing. But I will definitely keep posted on how they hold up.

Autopartsway will take them back, but I know i'll have to wait well over a week before i get the right ones and I'm to impatient haha. I just want to get these coils on! But i contacted KYB and they pretty much told me the only difference between the struts is the location of the ABS sensor bracket which isn't that big of a deal, the guy installing them told me he can come up with something to hold the wire down.

  6. Yes there is a difference with the threaded part at the top of the strut. 2002+ has longer thread for the deeper strut mount. if you are using your oem strut mount the 335030/335031 won't fit. the kyb strut mount(which is garbage) will fit both it comes with a spacer. i bought wrong ones years ago from 4x4parts(not sure of part #) and had to have strut mounts machined down to fit.

...Damn. Well I got the strut mounts from monroe, it also came with that spacer you mentioned so I guess these mounts shouldn't be a problem with these struts.

  7. hey guys

So I got all the parts to do my OME lift on my pathy. As I was looking through the parts I noticed autopartsway sent me struts with part #'s 335030/335031 which according to KYBs website is for the 98-01 r50s and my 2003 needs 335032/335033. My question is are there any differences between these struts? can I just use what autopartsway sent me?

Feedback would be much appreciated as I want to get this stuff installed asap.

    thanks

  8. OK, I never thought of that.. getting the manual hubs and just leaving them on all winter. They won't be a problem with the all mode 4x4 when its in auto?

How much MPG increase do you get with the manuals unlocked? If they pay for themselves I will seriously consider it.

Good to know I will be fine for a while with the autos anyway, and the grease and boots is definately a good idea.

Don't mean to intrude..but I am curious of this too. I have the All-Mode transfer case also and want to install the manual hubs, I have read some have had issues with the 4wd light coming on anyone had these issues?

  9. Definitely a good thing no one was hurt!

its crap though that honest hard working people like us, who pay their way in life, always seem to get fu@#^d over by indiscriminate a hole's, and the law, well lets not get into that one , it seems that although there is a big pond between us life isent that different .

I couldn't agree with you more on this. I had my front bumper hit a few weeks ago when a guy ran a red when I was making a left hand turn. He noticed last second what he did and hit his brakes as did I but still hit me. I had my brother with me which I felt was my best witness, but insurance said I could not use him and the insurance told me the guy said in his police report that I ran the red (F@@@ing A@#hole) so i ended up having to pay my deductable. I had the guys phone # and reemed him out, unfortunately he is unlisted so I have no idea where he lives... Anyways gotta love how the A##holes of the world get away with it.

  10. Just wondering for those with the OME HD coils up front if you have noticed any front end or tire wear issues. i remember reading earlier that this might be an issue if you dont have the sufficient weight up front. Also does anyone find the ride too harsh? I think i would prefer the MD set up all around but I want the pathy to sit level and I am afraid i won't like the way it sits with just the MD coils all around. If you have any opinions I'd like to hear them.

    Thanks

  11. Thanks for the response...I found the wheel bearings were actually ok, somehow the lock nut got loose :scratchhead: which was causing the play in the wheel, so i just retightned it and everything seems to be back to normal.

  12. Hey everyone

    I have a 2003 pathfinder 4wd.

I noticed this past week when im on the highway, if i do about 110km/h the front axle starts getting pretty loud, if i slow down it sounds normal. Today while driving i noticed my truck was clunking pretty bad in the front while driving, but the noise was intermittent and only happened while over bumbs or while i was turning, so i took off both my wheels and i noticed on the right side when i pulled on the hub there was a bit of play. Is this a bad wheel bearing? if so do i replace both the inner and outer bearing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

  13. So I finally got my leathers in...had them for a few months now actually. I am now trying to hook up the heated seats, not even sure if the heating elements work in the seats though. Right now I am trying to track down some switches to activate the heaters, does anyone by chance know if switchs from a 96 maxima would work? I was hoping they were universal in all nissans, by picture they look like theu would as they are the same size as the pathfinders. Anyways if anyone knows that would be awesome

  14. after my AC lift, im getting new wheels and 32x10.5 BFG AT's, or dick cepek radial FCII's.

question is, what size wheel do i get? i know i get 16, but width? backspacing? im thinkin 16x8 with 3.75 backspacing. if i like the wider stance look, would it make sense to get 16x8 with 2.5 backspacing? thats the next lowest BS that i can find in the rock crawlers. please help me ive been reading these forums for months now and still dont know what to do!

Really its your preference what ever you feel looks cool. Personally I dont like too much backspacing right now I got 4.5"bs on a 9 inch rim and am very happy with the stance now, before i had 4"bs on 8" rim and thought the wheels stuck out a little too much. Thats weird though I've never heard of a wheel having less then 3.5" backspacing. anyway good luck with the search.

  15. Aren't the 99.5 - 04 3.3's basically the same? I can take orders anytime now for the R50's. We've actually got a guy going to our Buffalo warehouse tomorrow or thursday (I believe its tomorrow though) So I'll send him down with some plugs/Brackets and hardware so we can ship them out from there.. save on costs and time

96-00 I believe are the same mechanically, 01 to 04 has the 3.5. So will the alt work on the 3.5s?

  16. I gotta say you and I have very similar taste. I was all about the Sidebiters and today found out that they won't work, my 2nd choice is the artillery but want to see what the black finish looks like. I spoke with Mt today and they said because of the backspacing and offset they'll NEVER work. I also found out why they're on back order but not from MT. Another wheel dealer said that when they created the molds they had the wrong backspacing and had to recall most of the rims produced. They're working on a new mold now and should be back into production soon.

I really like the artillery but have a feeling that the teflon is going to be junk. One dude told me that it scratches easily and has a bit of a dull finish. I might back back to my first choice which is a lot more expensive.

Thanks for the comments. For the plastic shaping i just used a heat gun i got from canadian tire, $15bucks and it came with some tools i assume are from shaping things at least thats what i use em for anyway. But i will get some photos of that tonight. MT though what a bunch of retards, I wish they just announced that in the first place so i didn't wait 6 damn months, but i guess they wanted my money out of me. I was initially going for the black artilleries as well but couldn't find any as most places were on backorder so i just got the chromies for an extra 10 a wheel and glad I did. I've also heard mixed feelings about the teflon... but those rbp wheels are pretty sharp man nice and clean looking.

  17. Cool. Do the 275 width tires fit without rubbing ?

Ha, ya they rub quite a bit. I had to trim with my old 265 tires, now with these 275 i had to cut more of the fascia, push the plastic well in and i had to push the plastic in on the back of the fender as well. But was well worth it i think.
